Depeche Mode are one of THE BEST bands that ever was. Someone asked me what was my favourite 80's band, and I replied: I listen to a band that started out as bubble gum pop, but that band grew and outlived all of their contemporaries to become doom lords of the 90's, and that person said, do you mean Depeche Mode?
Along with Tears For Fears their closest contemporaries N both both bands still produce a good cult following

Being a kid born in 78, I couldn't stand these guys growing up. It all changed once I heard Enjoy The Silence. Once I heard that it was over, hooked and even today I love hearing these guys.
I'm a metal and rock guy born in 69. It took me until about 2010 before I got into all the killer bands that passed by me growing up because I assumed they were lame. Depeche Mode, Joy Division, Cure, Duran Duran, just to name a few.

Depeche Mode is such a great band and so underrestimated amongst rock bands. What started as an electric pop band really evolved in one of the great rock bands of the last decades. And my God yes what a singular and great voice.

A lot of people there that weren't even born back in 1990 when that song was released and they love it. That shows you how good these guys are.
As a man in my 40's, and a songwriter who never found his wings... it's hard to find the creativity and emotional connection to music like you once did in your teens and twenties. All of that being said just to say, this song still gives me absolute chills from my head to toes.
