    From 1988 through 1989 on the one ton regular cab pickups, both the square body & the OBS generations were in production at the same time with the square bodies as the R/V 30 models, & the OBSs as the C/K 3500 models.

    Personally I like the OBS more, but the square body's are pretty nice, can't go wrong with a 305 or 350

    Square body k10 all day long and 2013 single cab 4×4 5.3 liter my favorite. 1999 to 2018 single cab 4×4 5.3 liter are good looking trucks the short beds hats off to gm they make the best looking trucks and easy to work on.

    Im on my 2nd square body (77 K10) has a 4” lift w/35’s. Brand new crate 350 (carbed). Im going to swap out the 350 auto for an OD unit. Im also on my 5th Bronco. (86) i love the trucks from the 70’s to mid 80’s era. It lets you know you’re in a solid, built to last vehicle. I prefer the ride quality of this generation as well. It still rides the way a real truck should. My Bronco floats down the highway at 75 with a 4” lift and 33’s.

    When they went to the OBSs in 1988, only the regular cab pickup models were redesigned to that style. 1988 was also the first year for the optional extended cab too on the OBSs. In 1990, the medium duty series trucks were also redesigned to that OBS style, & same with the crew cab pickup & fullsize SUV models in 1992.

    Since the '67 to '72 wasn't included I'd have to go with the square body for class, OBS for that hotrod truck look.

    Just picked up a super clean 91 suburban 2500. Badass truck. Fully stock, no rust ANYWHERE, no body damage ANYWHERE 80% of the paint still has good clear coat on it, interior is like a 98% out of 100% on perfection, silverado trim. Rear a/c everything. Got it on a trade and definitely came out on top in the trade.

    Actually the 1500/2500/3500 used on the OBS trucks was a carryover from GMC. GMC used that designation since the 60's. I used to own a 1969 GMC C1500, currently own a 1990 Chevy C1500 since new.

    1:09 On the half ton models, only the pickups were done in 1987, & same with the three quarter ton pickups "only the regular cabs" too.

    I own a 1999 C/3500 1 ton dually dump truck standard cab; With a 5.7 Vortec , & auto. trans. 4 speed. This model truck was still considered a OBS truck as it still had the same body style as the 89 OBS trucks. & has the single square headlights; Just like the W/T series of the OBS. These trucks came from the factory incomplete. & dealers would have a private company install a box, flatbed, Or a dump bed on them.

    I have my 82 Silverado short bed that I've taken care of....people want to buy it but my son (who is 34 )would flip if I sold it, so he'll end up with it someday. Young people love my truck, and I enjoy romping on the 350 with dual exhaust for them 😉

    I’m all about my 1974 K25 GMC it’s rockin a 6 inch lift with 35 inch tires Mickey Thompson wheels a 383 stroker and a four wheel disk brake setup and pretty soon it’ll have a fuel injection setup on it as well, it’s the meanest thing on the road! I always thought that “OBS” stood for “ol bull shit” but I guess that’s just me. I’ll tell y’all what, GM quit makin trucks when they quit making Squarebodies…. I’m just sayin. 😎

    You got a few few things wrong. The GMC OBS was still the C/K 1500-3500. You didn't mention that the square bodies were R/V in the 80's, rather than C/K.

    • @FirstPlaceAutoParts
      @FirstPlaceAutoParts  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the heads up on the updates on the squarebody trucks. Most get confused by the R/V designation that took place in the 80's (list a squarebody as an R10 when trying to sell one and no one knows what it is)

    My neighbor across the street has a 93 Suburban 2500 4x4 with almost 500,000 miles on it! the interiour is junk the steering wheel is loose side to side up and down .The seat back is held up by an ice chest but the air conditioning is ice cold and it runs and drives fine, it still has the original muffler and exhaust system ! You have to pull on a pair of vice grips to open the hood lol

    I wouldn’t call a throttle body a upgrade 😂😂😂

    • @FirstPlaceAutoParts
      @FirstPlaceAutoParts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Your mostly right... throttle bodies were really a slight improvement over a carb. Unless you had a carb that was worn out and needed a rebuild. Then a throttle body was a welcomed addition. Have to say though, they did benefit cold starts in climates where is got below 32 degrees in the winter. Performance wise...not so much
