    This is one of the only videos that I could find that actually shows you where the CDI box on the KLR 650 is. Good video thanks for posting this.

      No problem! It is kind of hidden the KLR unless you think to remove the gas tank.

    Just finished watching your video on how a stator/electrical system works on a bike/atv. I commented that I have a KLR with a damaged stator cover from a rock flying up...awesome that you have this video for me to watch as well. The stator cover just has a small dent where the rock hit. I't'll be interesting to see what is damaged in there...will be looking into the upgrade kit, thanks. Also for you KLR owners, over the years I disabled the kickstand kill switch, and cleaned up the handle bar kill switch contacts...both easy and important bits to take care of.

    I have a question my klr 650 I turn the key on and nothing happens I have changed key switch soliod fully charged battery still nothing I can really use help

      Have you checked your fuses? Start there if you have no power with the keyswitch on.

    Looks the same as a Caltric, which was garbage. Who the hell thought putting holes in the grommet around the wires would be a good idea. I got it all back together and it leaked oil thru the hole.

    I have klr 650 1993 started and was banging rev only to 2000 was told when I buy it that was just a cdi box but now there no spark

      Likely source coil on the stator is bad. Have you replaced the stator?

    Could you only swap out the stator without the others?

      Sure, you can change only the stator no problem.

    I have an issue with a klr650, it's not running at the right rpm, the rpm gauge bouncing around high and low. Bike will run with choke but u give it gas reving it till die.

      I changed the pulsing pulsar, the computer box, the spark plugs and coil. Still causing same problem.

    Why old one has 6 wires? and the new one has 5 wires?Will the new stator work with old regulator?

      Yes the new stator will work fine with old or new regulator. The 6th wire on the original is a voltage sense input to the regulator. This is routed through the bikes harness, and often gives a poor voltage reference to the regulator. Our unit uses a direct battery voltage reference for regulation, which is much more accurate.

    Why drain the oil?

      It makes it much easier to install with the bike upright. However you can always lay the bike over on it's side and change the stator without draining any oil.
