- Shiraz Golden Restaurant, mostly known as Shiraz is a very famous Mughlai cuisine restaurant of Kolkata. It has a legacy of 78 years. Shiraz was founded in the year 1941, by two young entrepreneur Mr.Arshad Ali and Mr.Ali Hussain. Lately in 1970 Samsuddin Bawarchi joined Shiraz, who was a descendant of the Royal Chef's family of Nawab Wajid Ali Shah. Today Shiraz is continuing it's almost 80 years old legacy under the guidance and supervision of their owner Mr.Ishtiaq Ahmed. Shiraz follows the Awadhi style of cuisine, the Dum Pukt style. The restaurant is famous for it's delicacies like Biriyani, Chanp, Rezala, Qorma.

Briyani originated from Isfahan, Iran. the etymology of he name biriyani can be traced to the original Persian word, "birinj biriyan" - or fried rice. Nice Video.
Don't make the mistake of having food in this bloody dungent. The food is awful & very greasy, not at all good for you're heart. I would rate it as the worst mughlai resturant in Kolkata
Actually the owners are not at all
interested in running the restaurant. They are more interested in their lodging business which is far more lucrative everyone knows the place where the old restaurant was is now converted into a palcial lodging hotel. The owners care a damn about their resturant
Shiraz biryani is made specially for Bengali gourmets who like Dru type less oily biryani.but taste is not superb.Another hotel mezban biryani is more tasty.

Dum Phukt originates from Iran; its used in cooking many dishes in its cuisine-- and then used in Mughlai cuisine. Shiraz er biriyani amar dadu niye ashten in the 1980s ; box of mutton biriyani was like Rs. 5 then I guess.

Good to know that u r not biased about dada boudir biryani. Seeing from last few vloggers that shiraz arsenal and other kolkata based audhi biryani restaurants are quite substandard than dada boudi d Bapi mandal biryani. I am highly surprised to know that these people are looking for quantity mainly and value for money. This is so funny. U can't compare shiraz arsenal audh 1590 with dada boudi and others. Good to know that u r not biased about that.

I have nearly tasted biryanis from all the famous biryani junctions in Kolkata and i do agree with you that shiraz is the best restaurant and their taste and aroma of the biryani is really appreicable.

I had a chance to meet him in late seventies.
He ancestors was a cook of Wajid Ali Shah

With mutton biryani you can always take chicken chap as a side, it's a classic combo... But for Shiraz you can also go for Mutton Pasanda, which is a bone less mutton gravy dish or Murgh Laziz Tikka Masala... 😊😊

Dada, kindly ekta video korun where you can cover the late night restaurants in kolkata. Eg: jai hind dhaba, Sarat Bose road. It remains open till 3am.
Like Mumbai and delhi, here in kol we also have restaurants which are open till dawn. But oder khoja ta problematic.
