we've got all our chickens from meyer hatchery 4 different times. A few didn't arrive alive but that's to be expected. They were great at replacing the chick but they only ship in 3, so I had to purchase 2 to complete 3 the needed to be shipped. Once I received a rooster when I didn't order one but again, they were great in replacing it but again I had to order 2 more to make 3 needed for shipping. I started wanting only 6. I know have 32 🤷♂ . believe it or not I still plan to order more. it's addictive. Thats why they call it "CHICKEN MATH" 👍😊😊
I use Meyers about all the time to ship chicks! I've even been to the hatchery in Polk, OH, and they were very friendly and loaded me down with free goodies and gave me a tour. On shipping cost, their chick minimums are 3 during warm weather months and 8 during cold. If you order less than 15 chicks, your cost is currently $50. BUT, if you order 15 +, shipping drops to $15! Lots better! Just to let you know
Or if you order 18 , free shipping. You can always sell those you don’t want for $25-$40 a pullet. That’s what I do . Wait 2/3 months and just before they start laying I sell 10-15 and since I usually get rare birds, I sell between $25-$40-50 per chic
I watch for sales, I currently found one for over hatch at 2.98 per female chick(normally over hatch chicks are 4.25). I also asked for a free meal maker hen and a free rooster chick. I bought 15 plus the 2 and shipping was +$15.
We just got our baby chicks today frm Meyer hatchery. We got 16 ordered 15&so far so good. They were a lil stressed&loud frm the travel but we got them settled down. Hope all is going well with yours Tfs!!(edit:for some reason this showed as 2mths ago but I see it’s 7mths ago so yours must be pretty big now)
We had to do the same with heat plate. My chicks liked it but preferred the lamp. They were more active & alert with the lamp. The plate they just huddled together the whole day
It's a good idea to open the box at the post office and have a postal worker witness it in case of dead or dying chicks. Some hatcheries will replace dead chicks if they died in transit and can be proved so.
Meyers just has you send a picture,they actually guarentee the chicks will live at least 48 hours..if you have. WEak chicks and you call or log into their chat they will go over a bunch of steps to help you save them and then check in with you in with you
love your video! question! what's the difference between crumble and regular chick feed? I always worry about pieces of feed being to big for the baby chicks lol
