Purely Poultry is the hatchery that I used to place my online order. They are in WI and charge no shipping fee, no small flock fee but they do require a 10 minimum purchase. I placed my first order for 25 Cornish Cross meat chicks, and then went back and ordered 10 more of various sexes and breeds. My flock is now 45 birds (including 10 White Leghorns that I got through Tractor Supply which I think has a relationship with Hoover Hatchery--don't quote me on that.

Can you recommend a place in southern California? Also, thank you so much. I hate watching videos that just go on and on. I appreciate that you get straight to the point.

Murray McMurray will do 6 chicks in the cold months if you pick them up from the hatchery. I'm lucky enough to live 1 hour away. I have 6 Dominiques on order to pick up 3/14/23. My first chickens. I'm so excited!

Just a note, Meyer Hatchery will ship as few as 3 chicks, so that's an option as well! I just found out they are not far from me, so we probably would have went there, but we ended up getting ours at a regional farm store.

Thank you for this series! I’ve been wanting chickens but didn’t think I could tend to them in the winter (I’m in MN, too, but not a native). Your video talking about only feeding them every few days was like- omg 🤦‍♀️ lol Hadn’t even considered that but it gives me hope that I can get them in the future

Hi Crystal! Yay, another Minnesotan! So glad you are enjoying the videos 😊 Yes, larger feeders and waterers are a game changer. Chores are so easy when you only have to do a quick check and gather the eggs. You can totally do it!

Stay away from meyers. I ordered 2,000 Java peacock from them and ignored to see the problem of the health and conditions of the peacock. The vibe they gave off was that I didn’t so my research before but I g as if I was new to the hobby. I waited so long to the javas to be available to only receive their reject stock. So now I have a deformed female with a never to walk again male that was both crammed into a shipping box meant for one bird, with little to no bedding. It’s a shame, and they claim themselves to be America’s leading hatchery. 🤣 pathetic to title yourself something you’re not. Please do attend swap meets and poultry shows. Avoid at all cost hatcheries unless you’re desperate to want cheap stock. I say that but I still get from hatcheries with the risk. And that’s sad becuase sometimes private breeders also rarely sell their stock either, since they’re trying to towards standards of perfection.
