    Thanks mate. My problem when tattoing, I haven't done much, but I ALWAYS start out not going deep enough, cause I fear blowing out like nothing else. So i go over...wipe... Not enough in there, so another pass... and another...etc. I then rather stop and continue another week, as forcing to get it done that day. That's a compromise I stuck to for now, until I hone my routine a little more ...

      somewhat, I didn't know at the time but he was fresh out of apprenticeship. we spoke a couple times with photos of progress once I noticed something off. he said it looked fine to him. I asked about infection and he said he would do touch ups once healed. I haven't told him it was confirmed infected yet. I don't want to come across rude or accusatory.

    • @ChrisRavage
      @ChrisRavage  2 ปีที่แล้ว +9

      @@trishaconyers4831 you aren’t accusing. In all honesty infections usually come from outside the studios unless the studio was just really dirty or the artist was dirty and doing things wrong. I would just be honest with the artist. Overworked however is on the artist. You may get some scarring and will it will all need to settle down before a touch up

    Watched this video 4 hours too late, I think I just messed someone’s leg with overworking a full black Celtic cross, is there any way to fix it after it heals? :/
    Edit 20 minutes later:
    Just got off the phone with my guy, let him know I might have fucked up.
    He said he didn't consider it too painful so he didn't mention it even when I asked.
    We'll let it heal for a while and then see what we can do afterwards, thankfully it's a black cross, hope I didn't scar him too bad tho :/
    Thanks alot Chris for the education. 🙏

    Oh I didn’t think about the plasma and blood in the ink. I’m new on skin and couldn’t figure out why my black suddenly had a reddish brown color in it as I worked on my leg the other day! Thank you so much for the tips!

    Hi Chris I had a tattoo done in this January. I can tell it was overworked after researching. I reached out to the artist and they said the tattoo is still healing. I can already feel the difference in texture on my skin. One part of the tattoo is raised. This tattoo also is packed with lots of black ink.
    It’s weird because I’ve been tattooed by this artist before and that tattoo is amazing but this recent one definitely overworked and I’ve never experienced that.
    I’m also concerned because I have brown skin not sure how the scarring will look not sure if it would make a difference.
    Any scaring cream recommendations? How soon should I reach out to the artist again?

      Wait until the tattoo has fully healed then you can try Bio-Oil. Which should bring it down for you 😬

    i've got a dozen tattoos and the only time it ever hurt is when I had to sit for more than hour.....I guess most people are able to go 2.5 hours on average but i'm a B**(h i guess. lol. 62 minutes in and it immediately goes from 'gimme a cup of tea and a magazine" to "f**k off. i'm done. see you in a month"

    I had a tattoo done 7 days ago. It’s healing something awful. Would it make sense that only one colour seems to be overworked? Thinner ink? I have a fair amount of ink but never experienced a healing period like this.

    I practice on myself, I was using red ink this time so I guess it was harder to tell, but I’m trying shading and I started out good but the rest of my tattoo is overworked and ink wasn’t going in! I kept trying to add ink and it was just clear. hope I can recover it properly and I hope it looks okay in the end, lol I started shedding skin immediately after :(

    Hi, my tattoo artist overworked my tattoo..its a portrait, it scabbed really bad it took 6 weeks for all the scabs to completly come off, now im.left with a few scars. Can this be fixed with a touch up? Can you go back over the scar so it looks normal again or will i have to live with a badly healed tattoo forever? Thankyou

    • @ChrisRavage
      @ChrisRavage  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Depends how bad the scar is and what tone is used for the scar. For black and grey it depends but for colour they touch ups cover well

    I need a little advice/direction 😊 I just finished getting a floral piece on my inner forearm. 2 sessions, both ended up having a few overworked areas. Never experienced this with other work so i was alarmed when chunks of skin literally came sloughing off. They ended up looking like ground meat and deeply ulcerated to deep layers. Ive ended up with 2 gnarly scars and lost a good bit of ink in other areas. The pain was intense to say the least and healing was slow.
    Should i see the same artist to touch me up? And should i expect the work to be done at no cost considering it's repairing their mistakes? Or should i seek out a different artist and pay to have repair/restoration done??

    • @ChrisRavage
      @ChrisRavage  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      If it was that bad, it’s not always the artist, infection can happen. So my advice would be to find out if this has happened to anyone else regularly that artist tattoos and if so, don’t go back. Healed work is the biggest testament to an artist.

    I have tiny white bumps, tons all close together, definitely not pimples in one area with colour.
    It's around 3 weeks healed and otherwise going well.
    I can't find anything online that looks similar.
    Does it sound like possible overworking?

You have a professional teaching you , unless you are not a real apprentice and in that case why lie ? No worries either way just curious

      after testing a higher voltage ( you should never go past 9.5 imo) it can ibe the needle , you should try swapping a needle due to missed hairs or dry ink, ( depending on your ventilation) , sometimes it can be due to the ink being to thick , you can dilute it with some distilled water if that doesn't work

    Great video! As a client, how would you approach telling your artist that some areas got overworked so that it doesn't happen in follow up sessions? I'm putting my full trust in the artist and the last thing I want to do is tell him he's doing it wrong and then sit down and have him continue working on it. But I also want to the tattoo to look great and without scarring from overworked areas.

    When I tattooed 3 different types of skin while practicing, they would swell up from just the lining, except 1 of them. I wouldn't really go over the lines either because I thought it was already swelling so i never knew if I had already over worked the skin or if it was just the sensitivity of the skin, or some other factor I wasn't thinking of.

    i used to struggle to pack Dynamic triple black into the skin but mostly i used that ink,no matter stretch hard,or stretch less,a little pressure or not,faster or slower speed of my hand and machine,some ink just wont go into everybody's the same...so i am trying to go one pass gently to open the skin,put some ointment on it and leave it for couple of minutes then go back and slowly fill it in.. that works for me,but must admit sometimes on some people not even that kind of procedure is working... amazing...
