As a fellow owner of this game's platinum, here's some advice for others to make it easier for Akumu mode. 9:41 Interestingly enough, you don't have to use the rocket launcher on Laura to beat her. I didn't get her on my first Survival no-gel run (which was so much harder than my Akumu mode playthrough PURELY because of the lack of upgrades and it being my first playthrough), but I beat her on Akumu using this simple strategy: Place a shock bolt a few meters in front of fire nozzles and bait her towards it (make sure it's not directly underneath the nozzle, otherwise she can get through the fire when you activate the fire nozzle. Shoot it outside the range of the fire, but close enough that she can still see you). While she's convulsing, shoot a harpoon bolt in the very bottom of the nozzle (the bottom ring is fine), as this keeps the fire going PERMANENTLY. Then stand behind the fire and she'll hit it every time she tries to come towards you. She will keep coming at you until she dies in the first room (though she does appear once on each floor), but in the second room, she will respawn at the nearest body, so just take note of which body she spawns at and then angle yourself so that the fire is between her path and you. 11:10 Also, a way to disarm those bombs more easily is to activate the disarm sequence and open your inventory wheel at the same time. It slows down time significantly and makes it so much easier. You can still mistime it because of the small success size, but it's more manageable. 12:40 Yeah, those Flash Bolts in Chapter 6 only make your life easier if you DON'T kill them. More enemies spawn with the death of others, which will require you to use more flash bolts to keep yourself safe (but this is when collecting trap parts from the bombs will come in handy, as each bomb gives you 2 trap parts, exactly enough to craft a flash bolt). You kill the first wave in each room, but in the first room, you stun-lock the second wave until Joseph opens the door (when they start to advance is when you shoot your next bolt, not before as it won't have any effect). In the second room, kill the first wave of three, then when the next wave of four come in, flash stun them, stealth kill the FAT enemy and the WOMAN enemy with the knife (ONLY these two, as killing them won't spawn any other enemies). Stun lock the remaining two until Joseph unlocks the door. 16:53 Also, the only enemy you really have to kill to get back to the bus in chapter 12 is the guy who is initially shooting the turret, as he will kill you quickly on Akumu (or any difficulty for that matter); a quick sniper headshot between the turret shield and gun will take care of him. After that, just shoot your upgraded flash bolt and climb over the front of the yellow bus blocking your path to the bus with Kidman and Joseph. You don't even need to use the turret if you're quick enough.
5 kills with each arrow. For frost one, hit the enemy then melee them. For lightning, when they fall to the ground, you have to shoot them for it to count. Same with flash bolt. Harpoon, upgrade it first so it burns enemy instakilling them.
Akumu is one i will never beat bc i just do not have the patience or the desire for something that tedious. I was stuck on one early game enemy guantlet fir an hour before saying screw this
This video showed up out of the blue and i just had to leave a comment bc I’ve played this game many times…. Please don’t take this as harassment or trolling or something offensive, but…. Akumu mode is only impossible if you lack 100% determination and (sorry to say) if you’re not good enough. I managed to finish Akumu mode. I’ve platinumed this game. I also played most RE and Dead Space games on their hardest difficulty modes and let me tell you this: The Evil Within’s akumu mode is by far the second hardest of them all imo. The one on top for me is Dead Space 3’s hardcore mode. Why? Checkpoints are disabled on DS3’s hardcore mode. You can save&quit but if you die, you lose ALL your progress. This is a +10 hour game, perhaps even a bit longer than TEW. Akumu mode is an instakill mode for you, but at least you get to keep your save file and checkpoints remain. The fact that if you die once in DS3’s hardcore mode and lose everything, far outweighs TEW’s akumu mode. Or so i’d like to think. Akumu mode is a real hell (especially chapter 6 in the burning house), but the constant uncertainty and fear of dying while playing on DS3’s hardcore mode is truly terrifying and nerve-wracking.
@@BRUBREW I got the platinum so don't think Is 🍰 and 🍦 is the opposite definitely gonna test your patience with the unskippable cutscenes but you got this
