America has a group of herbs and seasonings that they call "Italian seasoning". All in the same container & usually includes dried oregano, basil, thyme & sometimes rosemary.
I said that in one of my videos last time, I did not understand why there's a need to produce such seasoning, when in fact those herbs are meant to be used for different dishes.
@vincenzosplate How that ever got started in America is unknown to me. One of my pet peeves is the label of "Chili Powder". First off, in New Mexico USA, it is spelled "CHILE", same pronunciation as chilI. (Chil"i" is supposed to be the entire finished product) Secondly, how can it be called "chili powder" when it has other seasonings as salt, cumin, garlic, onion, oregano, etc??? Finally, if it is not comprised of ONLY chile peppers, then it is NOT TRUE CHILE POWDER. 🥱🙄
@@vincenzosplate to my understanding the "Italian food" market in America (Italian seasoning, pre made "spaghetti sauce", ect) stems from Italian American immigrants in the late 19th century and early to mid 20th century. As a fact they usually had lower income jobs (because they were immigrants) and thus had to produce an abundance of food on an extremely tight budget. That "lower class" of food has since been made extremely affordable to low income households, less time consuming for busy households, simplified, processed, preserved and mass marketed as "Italian food" and not many really questions it. It's fun, quick and ridiculously easy to make, but doesn't compare to the real thing whatsoever.
@@vincenzosplate Unfortunately the reality is...the manufacturers can sell more product overall by combining a few different "typical Italian seasonings" and and creating a "whole new product". In America there is a large enough demand for things like this, similar to how people in the UK and USA use "curry powder" (which is a combination of a few different spices) to make "Indian food", but if you say "curry powder" in India people will look at you like you're an idiot. They want the "taste of Italian and Indian food", but don't want to bother learning the detailed quantities and ingredients to make authentic cuisine.

Prego is a brand from Campbell's Soup based in New Jersey. The only Italian thing about it is that it originated as a 70's competition with Heinz ketchup, which until then was the traditional go-to for Americans eating "pasta".
Pre-shredded cheese in a bag is dusted with flour to keep it from sticking together. That's why is does not melt very well and the taste is not as good as cheese that you grate fresh.
I live in England and I learnt to stay away from Italian herbs.bought it a couple of times and it was a concussion of horrible angry garlic because here people think that Italians eat tons of garlic. Hmm, but wikipedia says 'In Italy, a pasta sauce including seafood is more commonly called alla pescatora.' And 'Marinara (lit. 'sailor') sauce is a tomato sauce usually made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions.' I'm from Germany and we call that sauce marinara, too. Even pizza marinara is just a pizza with red sauce (no with seafood, that is just 'Seafood pizza' ).
You're absolutely right, and I appreciate the clarification. The term "marinara" can have different interpretations and uses in various regions and cuisines. In Italian cuisine, "alla pescatora" is indeed a seafood sauce, while "marinara" typically refers to a simple tomato sauce with garlic, herbs, and onions. It's interesting how food terminology can vary between cultures and regions. Thank you for sharing your perspective from Germany! 🇩🇪🍝🇮🇹
Oven baked pasta dishes are a very American idea. They throw everything in a pan and into the oven so they'll have more time suing their neighbours for having the wrong kind of christmas lights. It's a culture thing. :D

I believe the reason these videos are so popular is that they usually are 1-pot meals. People are sooo much lazier than you can imagine. If you want to go viral, maybe you have to start making authentic italian one pot recipes (although I'm not sure that exists for pasta)
Prego is the absolute worst sauce in existence. That and Ragu. I use jarred sauce from time to time, but never that poor in quality. I don't understand why all these people are using Prego, there are better sauces out there for not much money. This is kinda sad. Do these people not have taste buds???
Its all relative. They are used to eating it so they don't mind the flavor. Its like how people outside of America think Hersheys chocolate tastes like vomit or rootbeer tastes like mouthwash.
i went to italy before and i had the same reaction as you when reacting these 'food hacks', haha! I made italian pasta and pizza before and these just ruin the quality but thanks for listing the videos i should avoid chef, new sub!

PS.: Having a blend of seasonings called "Italien Spices" is a thing in my country as well. I don't normally use it, because I like to go by whatever I'm trying to cook and not everything needs all the herbs in that seasoning blend, but I have something against things with overly obvious titles in general. If something is called very specifically one thing, then, most of the time, you get either something really generic, something cheap or something with the most safe blend when it comes to, for example, spices, because it's made for people who have little to no clue what they are doing and are most likely naive beginners. Funnily enough, the pasta sold for really cheap here in Germany is still pretty clear, though. I sometimes buy Barilla, because my local supermaket, even though it's huge, doesn't have another brand for Canneloni. It's expensive as hell. But the quality of the cheapest Penne is just as good, not gonna lie.
I can understand why you would feel that way after reading that comment. It is definitely a bit of a horror story! But I don't think that you should let one bad experience ruin all future dinner parties for you.
You for REAL are going to have a stroke. Prego is the garbage of the jarred sauces. It's also the CHEAPEST. Americans, who are NOT of Italian heritage, do not care about quality, just quantity and price. So you keep doing YOU, because we L❤️VE YOU 😊🇮🇹✔️
Taking the worst cooking "hacks" from people who happen to be American and generalizing the entire country from that is ignorant. As ignorant as assuming that all Italian families daily cook every single meal completely from scratch, and they only eat pasta.
@@beepbeeplettuce5890 in defense I find the majority do luckily I also found that most of these people will change when convinced with evidence that it is bad
That's definitely not “cooking“. That's buying some convenience products of poor quality, mixing and exposing them to heat. Grazie mille for the love and support! 🙌🇮🇹 I couldn't agree more-authentic Italian cuisine is all about respecting the traditions and using quality ingredients. Let's continue to savor the real flavors and leave those shortcuts behind! 👨🍳🍝
People on tik tok need to realize that if they are going to use Prego they need to put it in a mason jar to make it look homemade. Lol
🤣🤣🤣
Prego is a brand from Campbell's Soup based in New Jersey. The only Italian thing about it is that it originated as a 70's competition with Heinz ketchup, which until then was the traditional go-to for Americans eating "pasta".
You're absolutely right! 🍅 Prego might sound Italian, but it's got an American twist. Let's stick to the real Italian flavors! 👌🇮🇹
stay real Vincenzo we love you this way
I will!
TikTok is full of bs, people watch it just for a laugh.
Vincenzo please don't change, you and few others are my rock ❤
It's unfortunate that Italian herbs in England haven't met your expectations. 😔 Rest assured, I'll keep sharing authentic Italian recipes without compromise. 🇮🇹 Thank you for your support, and feel free to explore more delicious recipes on my channel! 👨🍳🍝
Italian herbs in America...DOESN'T HAVE ANY GARLIC...DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU BOUGHT IN ENGLAND
I thought this was culinary family channel 5:06 😂👍
Literally gagging at the last one lmao 🤢 Vincenzo you are an international treasure!!
Thank you for the compliment! I hope you learned something from all of this! Enjoy cooking!
Vincenzo, the First Lady said she was cooking for a family of 8. The items she purchased seemed all to have come from Walmart (a large retailer in the USA). Walmart is known for its lower prices compared to many other retailers here. Perhaps in her defense, with the way the economy is here in the states she has no other choices but to buy the inexpensive items to feed her family. That being said , please don’t you change! I love the delicious looking meals you make!!!
Vincenzo, Prego Pasta Sauce tastes like chemicals. It’s awful. These TikTok pasta videos get a lot of views because it’s simple to throw these garbage recipes together.🤢
yeah... that's so sad!
I think people must like all TikTok videos. Not sure what is to like about any of these. Love your reactions though. So entertaining.
Glad you enjoy the reactions! 😄👨🍳 TikTok's a mixed bag, but we'll keep bringing the entertainment and authentic Italian cooking your way! 🇮🇹🍝 Thanks for the support! 🙌
Vincenzo, if you change, only to become famous, I will tell Nonna Igea about it and I will unsubscribe all channels.
And I will tell it Santa!!!
Thank you very much for sharing your great cooking video with us.
Greetings to Suzanne, to Sebastian, to your families in Australia and in Italy and to you, Vincenzo, from the Swiss Kitchen Dummy.
Hahahahah don't worry, I'll always stay authentic!!

"Tomorrow I'm gonna call everyone George" - Best comment on The Internet!!!

Love you too 😘
I felt so sorry for Vincenzo, he realy was upset😅😅😅
Hahahaha 🤣
I’m very passionate about cooking if I’m gonna make it I’m gonna make it right that’s why I’m here!
That's wonderful to hear! It's all about the passion and dedication to cooking. If you have any specific recipes you'd like to see or any questions, feel free to share. Happy cooking! 👨🍳🔥🍽️
Love your perspective! Looking forward to learning more from you
Awesome! Thank you!🙏🏻❤
Hmm, but wikipedia says 'In Italy, a pasta sauce including seafood is more commonly called alla pescatora.'
And 'Marinara (lit. 'sailor') sauce is a tomato sauce usually made with tomatoes, garlic, herbs, and onions.'
I'm from Germany and we call that sauce marinara, too.
R.I.P. spaghetti 2021
Hhahahaha dead spaghetti
😂
Haha! I enjoyed this video. Keep it real Vincenzo. 😀
Glad you enjoyed it!
Why are you shocked about those videos when traditional food of America is McDonald's
What's wrong with McDonald' ???
These videos had Vincenzo questioning his own existence
Hahahahah definitely
I can smell Vincenzo’s house from here…..and it smells like heaven.
😍😍
You made me laugh out loud. You are really so funny!
Yess! We all need a good laugh sometimes☺️
"Menicoddi", "Spegheddi", "Merinera", ... 😂😂😂
🤦🏻♂️🤦🏻♂️
Oven baked pasta dishes are a very American idea. They throw everything in a pan and into the oven so they'll have more time suing their neighbours for having the wrong kind of christmas lights. It's a culture thing. :D
😂 omg
Please vincenzo drop a recipe for risotto with scampi/ seafood
nice suggestion Ines, thank you!
I second this
The video starting around 12:38 looks like a great way to destroy your kitchen for no reason. 😅
Hi, I'm Sky and it's been 6 months since I've purchased shredded mozzarella 🧀🤣
HAHAHAHAHA 😂😂😂
These horrible recipes from “Food Dolls” pop up on my Facebook every day. And yes they still murder the pasta along with so many Ingredients thrown together. Just pretentious imo. On the other hand I love your recipes Vincenzo! And I actually learn something valuable with each video :) thank you
They waste a lot of food 🙈🙈
Vin, my man. If you wanna keep your sanity, stay away from TikTok, lmao.
Hahaha you're right
Please Vincenzo dont change ever! Real italian food need people like you, to keep it alive and continue the tradicion❤🇮🇹
Grazie mille for your kind words and support! 🙏❤️🇮🇹 I'm passionate about preserving the tradition of authentic Italian cuisine, and I'll continue to share the love for real Italian flavors. Let's keep the culinary tradition alive together! 👨🍳🍝
I believe the reason these videos are so popular is that they usually are 1-pot meals. People are sooo much lazier than you can imagine. If you want to go viral, maybe you have to start making authentic italian one pot recipes (although I'm not sure that exists for pasta)
Edit: For risottos though
For pasta it's very difficult but i can try!
Poor Vincenzo. We all come here to see him go crazy.
Hahahah you laugh at my pain!!! 🤣🤣🤣
If you pause the video and listen carefully, you can hear Vincenzo’s ancestors crying 😢😭
yeah 😭😭
I watch those kind of cooking videos for the comedy.
😂😂😂
Prego is the absolute worst sauce in existence. That and Ragu. I use jarred sauce from time to time, but never that poor in quality. I don't understand why all these people are using Prego, there are better sauces out there for not much money. This is kinda sad. Do these people not have taste buds???
sadly, yes 🥲
well said my friend, you're absolutely right 👏🏻
Its all relative. They are used to eating it so they don't mind the flavor. Its like how people outside of America think Hersheys chocolate tastes like vomit or rootbeer tastes like mouthwash.
Why? My kid and i really like prego??
Probably because they are cheap. I don't really like them either.
Rao's is the way to go for jarred sauce.
I’m still going to try to grow San marzano tomatoes in my garden for sauce. Forgive me, Vincenzo.
i went to italy before and i had the same reaction as you when reacting these 'food hacks', haha! I made italian pasta and pizza before and these just ruin the quality but thanks for listing the videos i should avoid chef, new sub!
🍕👨🍳 I'm glad you appreciate the traditional way of cooking Italian food. It's all about preserving the authentic flavors and techniques. Thank you for subscribing, and I hope you enjoy the recipes! 😊🇮🇹
Vincenzo! No cream in carbonara! Keep it up! I
That manicotti recipe is basically divorce papers for me.
Hahahhaah totally
Is this your favorite comment to make?
Thanks for this, George.
Thanks for stopping by! Unfortunately, my name is not George, but feel free to ask me any questions about Italian cuisine 😊🍝🇮🇹
@@vincenzosplate It was a joke based on your video :)
Please don't change Vincenzo!
never!! ❤
Stay real, we love you!!!
Always!
This makes me never want to eat at anyone's house ever again.
I can understand why you would feel that way after reading that comment. It is definitely a bit of a horror story! But I don't think that you should let one bad experience ruin all future dinner parties for you.
Vicenzo, I feel your pain. 😂😂😂😂💕💕
😭😭😭
haha "did you go make your punch in the toilet and forget your pasta in the oven?!"..... im freaking dead vincenzo lmfao
You for REAL are going to have a stroke. Prego is the garbage of the jarred sauces. It's also the CHEAPEST. Americans, who are NOT of Italian heritage, do not care about quality, just quantity and price. So you keep doing YOU, because we L❤️VE YOU 😊🇮🇹✔️
you're right Michelle!
Plenty of americans are italian desent, and plenty of americans care about quality, dont generalize an entire country just cause it fits your argument
No. That would be Ragu. Prego is gourmet compared to Ragu.
Hamburger meat is just preground beef ground up beef usually sold in a lb or more at the stores in US
Never ever will I accept sauce in a jar in my house unless I'm making it and jarring it myself. It's not that hard to make fresh sauce .
well said Joseph!! I fully agree with you!
I love how Vincenzo and I were basically thinking the same thing! 🤣 14:58
Omg 🤣🤣🤣
That's definitely not “cooking“. That's buying some convenience products of poor quality, mixing and exposing them to heat. There are many cheap ingredients to buy in a grocery store - vegetables are important - and easy recipes for less skilled people, to ensure your family doesn't eat junk food. There's a lot of information on TH-cam, for those who lack knowledge and experience.
This mother has time enough for uploading videos. This time could be used for learning to cook.
🤣🤣🤣thank you for a good laugh
Hahahah I'm glad you enjoyed the video!
God father pasta shirt is on point
thank you 😎
Hahahaha!! Watching these was like watching a series of train wrecks. Good lord!
One pot pastas are definitely not just a joke, they got pretty popular at some point.
But they surely are not practical. It would still be better if people cook them separately.
Your a legend Vincenzo 😅
