@@carolpeek7429 - I was being sarcastic. Many people in my family lived past 80. In fact, the age people live if they make it past 60 years old is 82. But unfortunately, many posters on this board want to believe what they want to believe, so they retire as soon as they can. Many seniors are broke. That's no way to "retire".

    • @cdsersd2d

@@carolpeek7429 - The average SS check is only $1800. The average savings of retirees according to Fidelity is only $114K. If you're living until 82, that only going to give a person about $2800 per month to live on. For those who say, "retire early because life isn't guaranteed" had better have at least a half a million in investments or they will run out of money at 75. I predict that 65 to 67 will be the sweet spot age to retire in the future.

One of my nieces was able to collect on her father's social security when he died, until she was 18. I came to realize that all of the extra money left from people who die before they collect, sure as hell, is not being put back towards social security. Our government is reassigning that money and wasting it on their own personal greed.

you misunderstand the way SS works. We were all told it was a 'retirement fund' for us and what we put in is what we are entitled to.. but that is a big lie. The way it works is Socialism. the people working are paying for those that are not working, whether it is Social Security, Disability or welfare. There are no 'retirement' accounts reinvesting your money to give you a retirement. It's all a lie. they set it up that way, then lied to us because in America if you say 'socialism' everyone gets their panties in a bunch and everything that follows is a mess. YEs it pisses me off that this is what they did but it does not change the facts.

It is important to understand that a majority of people out there have been trained from birth including me to spend and consume. To follow the approved vision of what life is supposed to be. Spend, consume, put it on a credit card, buy new cars, get a 30 year mortgage, pay monthly utility bills, keep up the neighbors, fall for product commercials and work your ass off to keep up. People need to wake up and realize if you remove yourself from the system, think outside the box of what a house looks like, how it's insulated, look at technologies like thermal heating/cooling, install a mini-hydro turbine to generate your own power, control impulse buying, buy land rather than live in some rat maze subdivision, grow your own food, produce your own energy, you will live a much happier life, actually accomplish things and realize you don't need near as much money as you do living in the system. The system is designed to entice people to spend and consume.

I have a thought to share with you. My father retired at age 59. He has what I call a "Cadillac" insurance plan. He is now 81 years old. When he was younger and frequently going to the doctor, his insurance plan would throw a king's ransom at any pharmaceutical that a doctor would throw at him. Now that the pharmaceuticals have made him sick, and he needs more health care as a result, the insurance company is getting a lot stingier with dolling out money. It occurred to me. They want him dead. And the sooner he dies the better, at least to them. This system is designed to kill you. Good video.

There's 40 year olds living with their parent working one day a week for their minimum spend and not worried about savings because it will just get inflated away . Its a mass spiritual awakening . Eventually , I think it will be a revolution because the state will try to go for slave / work camps /imprisonment but the cats out the bag now and aint gonna go back in.

Gain awareness of the wealth transfer from working people to the “connected-protected-ruling” class. Taxes, debt, rents, wars, administrative laws, drugs, higher education, healthcare, housing, inflation, etc. Awareness buys you time, time buys you options - until it doesn’t. Be awake, aware, and prepared. Don’t get played.

Some good points to ponder here. I’m retired now. Escaped from CA in 2020. Became eligible for Medicare in 2022. By now I have made the rounds to all the different kinds of doctors they have wanted me to see. I could never afford health care when living in CA, so I managed to get by with the occasional trip to the Chiropractor. Making the rounds to all the Drs has done nothing but cause me to worry more about my health. So, I have quit! Starting to feel better now thank you. I’ll keep paying into the Medicare, but will consider it as only an emergency thing, like in case I go out and buy another motorcycle and wind up wrapping myself around a telephone pole or something. How long will I live, happily? As long as I want to, as far as I’m concerned.

About 80% of Americans are paycheck to paycheck. Meaning an individual or family’s income barely covers essential living expenses like housing, utilities, groceries and transportation. This doesn't include credit card debt, auto/home/student loans, medical debt, and the cost of raising children. The only real solutions are track your spending, budget, downsize whatever you can house/car/subscriptions/groceries, cook your own food,.. generally cut any expenses you can and get debt free.

Makes sense, it's the same reason why the homeless problem keeps getting worse. In the politicians eyes, they're not contributing to the tax kitty, so investing in displaced people with tax dollars doesn't seem like a good investment to them. The united states has a tax monster that keeps getting bigger and bigger, retired people may have savings or investments, but all are drawing social security, which is a bit of a pyramid scheme in a sense as the working class paying into it now, may not see the benefits later.

Just one thing to be noted. He mentions if you work till you even older. Your health issues do increase as you get older. Yes there’s other factors also but not everybody’s going to be able to work until they are 70 or 75 especially if you have a more heavy physical job. I have seen many jobs that are rough and when you’re younger you might be able to do but as the years go by they run you into the ground literally. Not everyone can do these jobs into their later years. There is people who are forced into nursing homes because they are no longer able to live independently and have no choice because of their health conditions. I’m sure the government would like to not have to pay as many benefits out any longer than they have to. They are the ones who have mismanaged and poorly managed the finances of the system. The rest of the system especially the healthcare will bleed you dry while doing a crap job of treating the symptoms and not the causes while the insurance companies play dictators of what they allow the healthcare system to do in order to keep you alive or in the best level of life. Anyway this was a good video that was presented very well. Thanks 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Thumbs up. I don't even have to listen to all of it to know what's up. Consumer spending and thusly the whole economy are driven by the *GOTTA HAVE IT. . . NOW . . . CULTURE.* That means mostly younger folks many of whom know they have to work hard to get whatever it is they want. Older folks either already have what they went after. Or like me they simply don't care to bust hump for things that don't really matter to them anymore. Did i nail it ?????????? I think so. And society just doesn't need, doesn't want, and doesn't like smart oldsters who will not cooperate fully with all modern trends. And if you think society isn't smart enough to figure out which ones aren't toeing the party line. Think again. George Orwell's *1984* is among us in full force. Call it (1) a Zeitgeist (2) group instinct (3) herd mentality or god forbid (4) Satan. Don't believe ????? I understand completely. But when the shyt hits the fans there will be a lot more believers in the trenches. It's happened before. And it will happen again.

Charlie - True, but people will hate you for telling the truth. They want the government to feel them healthy food, workout for them and watch their weight while giving them drugs to regulate their issues. Afterall, it's easier to take a pill , than exercise 90 minutes everyday. They can't say NO to a Big Mac meal.

If you’re living in California then YES! You are correct. Your state is down for the count. What you are saying is not true for everyone in every state. If you haven’t eaten processed cruddy food all your life and took care of your body and mind you will not be in the situation you’ve described. I’m semi retired at 61 , and enjoying life to the fullest and only on one medication which is only temporary. Living in California with that miserable corrupt governor, you’re screwed man

I retired 17 years ago. I try to eat healthy, but I have had numerous surgeries since then. Over a million dollars in medical expenses on the Medicare dime! I'm grateful to have been treated well by the medical community. However, it's a struggle to just keep a quality of productive life as I advance in age. I know I'm costing our health care system an enormous amount of capital just to function. It's all about the money that our medical community is making off Medicare, and it's just a business. Every physician I have requires more and more duplicate testing to the point of redundancy. They request procedure that seem unnecessary. I worked in health care, and I know our Medicare system is being taken advantage of. We are simply sqeezing blood out of every senior citizen to keep the revenue coming in.

Folks, work to set yourself up for as a comfortable life as possible. No one is expected to live forever. I have been working since I was 14, stopped working before I was 62, now drawing social security. I love not working anymore. My financial freedom and financially means a lot to me. I wanted to stop working at 45, but had to build that work portfolio in order to live a reasonably comfortable lifestyle.

I just turned 41 and awfully late to investing with barely any portfolio except my 401k, I have a decent amount of cash saved up and with inflation currently soaring AGAIN, I’m getting worried about retirement, my intention is to retire at 65 atleast, so how best do I maximize my savings of over $500k

Everyone’s been preaching investing lately as a source of passive income but with a 70 hour weekly jobs and limited knowledge of financial instruments, how can I actually stay on top of things, I see every TH-cam video saying BUY BUY! But when and how do I sell for profit at the right time?

is it really worth investing in stocks in 2024, I’ve been on the sidelines watching the market for awhile and it seems to be pretty stagnant to me not that it matters because I’m in it for the long run, but how can one generate actual profit in this current market?
