It makes it interesting that different, unconnected cultures would have different names or views of the same thing. In fact, it makes perfect sense. It'd be bizaare if different races across the galaxy "just happened" to come up with the same name for the same thing.
Catalyst375 I agree with your statement and, in connection, as an aside, I might believe more in religion if more cultures had, in the past, came up with the same names for religious figures/ideals that were never heard of from other cultures. For example, the Christian Tower of Babel story as being the reason why humans have more than one language makes me laugh. It’s like saying that aliens should also call water the same name as a human language calls water, because “god” gave them that word, in whichever language he gave them before “we” built the tower
Anyone else start shipping Thrawn and Aralani after hearing those “memories” like the art museum, the fair, the sparring, etc?! I dunno I never expected it and I think it would be neat to se them have a short lived and well-ended relationship.
Nah, I've always seen them as siblings, family. Like he has his lost sister back, but also, obviously, someone else. But still their friendship is absolutely amazing and one of my favs.
There are two possible ships actually, with Ar'alani and with Thalias. I was a bit skeptical about Thalias at first - she has an obsession to say the least, erm erm - but she turned out to be a pretty cool character. Personally, given the events of the three books, i think i'd rather ship Thrawn with Ar'alani and have Thalias be more of a sibling to him. One thing is sure : Che'ri is like a daughter to him and being with her is the closest we've ever seen Thrawn to manifesting parental instinct 😂

Just finished listening to the audiobook yesterday. So good! Can’t wait for more! I do love his origin changing from being born Mitth to being a merit-adoptive-come-trialborn. Between that and the others who seek to manipulate him or tear him down, it just is a great turn away from being born into extreme privilege to being truly gifted and rising on his own merit. I hope the subsequent books explore his earlier life more.

Why do all the supporting characters around Thrawn have to be female? Wasn’t Thrass Thrawn’s brother? I find the “over the top” amount of female characters irritating.
Beaglenoseknows Thrass is still canon, and idk, if it’s done purely for political reasons that’s pretty lame, but if not, who cares? The three+ main villains are all male, Bakif or whatever is a man, etc. I’d say it’s actually pretty balanced in comparison to previous novels.
Oh yeah. He had literally no continuity to have to deal with, since he's dealing with the Unknown Regions and almost all completely unknown characters. I imagine books 2 and 3 will remain relatively as free as this one.
I found the mention of wars between Sith and the Galactic Republic really interesting and confusing. In Legends the Galactic Republic lasted 25k years and participated in many wars against the Sith until Palpatine overthrew it. But in canon the Galactic Republic was founded ca. 1000 BBY and was supposed to be peaceful since its founding. Perhaps the Chiss have wrong info about the Republics and don't know which is which.

Андрей Шурочка Thats what I was thinking. I thought the purpose of the Grysk was to replace the Vagaari and Yuuzahn Vong as a new evil threat given that they share similarities. They’re both from the Unknown Regions, are nomadic conquers, enslave worlds, and were planning to invade the known galaxy.
@@Jackal_El_Lobo34 The Grysk are only to replace the Vong. The Vagaari weren't that consequential in the long run. Pretty sure they got their butts kicked in Survivor's Quest before the Vong invasion.
Let's hope the Yuuzhan Vong suddenly have an appearance in the next two books of the trilogy. Also hoping for a so-called Star Wars Multiverse wham moment, so to fix some... idiocies.
