I own this bootleg and I had the same problem with the legs. Here's a tip to help fix that problem. First, loosen the screw which holds the two parts of the legs together then slowly screwing the two parts back together until they leave enough gap for the legs to stay in place. Once the right amount of gap is left, the legs should then plug into place. I hope this is helpful!
For those who may be wondering, I'll tell the differences between bootleg and real Ravage. Not Lazerbeak though, I just don't care enough to do him. So, first thing I noticed is the missing feet. Actual Ravage has articulated black feet. The plastic is obviously cheaper. The eye also seems to be larger, but that could be the fact that it is a sticker unlike the paint on the original. The tail also seems bigger. You're welcome, if any of you felt you needed the difference
According to the Chinese on the card his name is 录音俠 (Sound Recording Hero). For comparison, the real Soundwave's name in China is just "Soundwave" (声波). The text also says that he's "the strongest warrior." The Chinese and Japanese text on the card also try to hype up that he can "combine" (presumably with not-Laserbeak). I don't know where "Armourrakker" came from since the Chinese above it just says "Sound Recording Hero" and therefore should just be "Sound Recorder" again.
Went to a shop in Little Tokyo, LA, and they had some Polyfect Transformers there. They had Defensor, Superion, a Menasor where two of the components were replaced by Afterburner and Nosecone, and two toys I couldn't recognize except one (or maybe both) turned into a jet.
I wonder if they meant to say “Destron”. Regardless, it’s awesome that you found a G1 gun-type Megatron. Realism, shmelism, I still mostly like gun-Megatrons over tank-Megatrons. I have an oversized, blue, bootleg RTS Megatron, in need of a better paint job…
From what I've heard, the reason for the double cassette window is because the original Soundwave toy mold had degraded to a point that it could not be used, hence why soundblaster and any toys based off of G1 Soundwave used the double tape window.
ARMOURRAKKER superior. Sound Recorder inferior. "Let's see what he's made of!" *thunk* "I hate that guy" And the ending skit with Megatron was hilarious
Cool review! I’ve seen the toy line at Tuesday Morning, but never saw “Sound Recorder”. I ended up getting “Tornadonumber”. I like that Ravage was included, and realized that this Ravage has no ankles. Then I realized…does Ravage have his weapons? Oh dude…
Given the inclusion of Ravage and Laserbeak coupled with the double-tape chest and the Fortress Maximus sticker on Ravage I would say fairly conclusively that Armourrakker is specifically a bootleg of that Classics Soundwave.
So today I learnt from that shot of the back of the original box that Soundwave can apparently read minds and hear a fly sneeze. Why did these thing not come up more in the show?
The interaction between Soundrecorder/Armourraker and the other Transformers was hilarious. Why is it I'm more attracted to the original figure than the giant one ? And I'm not even a Transformers fan.
I'm more amazed that Phelous found an original Transformer for only $15! Oh the days when you could actually afford toys like that! Now that would probably be $49.99. Sigh.
The re-use of Soundwave's G1 toy, SoundBlaster, was slightly remolded to be able to hold 2 cassette-icons in his chest compartment. It was a neat feature to differentiate the new toy from the original, and although it was pretty obvious since the tape window stuck out like a bad push-up bra, it was still cool to have 2 tapes instead of just 1 hidden within. Must say, I dig the chrome stickers for detail on this oversize KO, although no tape counter decal? FAIL!!! But do the weapons still compact into 'batteries' to store in his back?
Soundblaster was also the name of Creative Labs' sound card, which was the de facto standard for PC sound until 2007 when Windows Vista killed off hardware accelerated sound APIs. (7:44)
The double tape capacity is not actually something the bootleggers did. Takara upgraded Soundwave and Blaster (Broadcast in Japan) into Soundblaster and Twincast and remolded them with the double tape capacity. So -creativity points since they didn't come up with that. My disappointment is they upped the size; but didn't upgrade him from mini-cassette size to regular cassette size. That would have been amazing.
I've got a Soundrecorder/Armourakker like this but mine has die cast feet so has no problem standing. It also didn't have Animated Soundwave on the card art, I guess there are different versions and just based on when they were made
At 4:10 i thought i heard the score from Days of Thunder in the background. About 10 seconds later it sounded like the score played during the G1 Transformers movie when Devastator combines & smashes into Autobot City.
Skul Gulaymon oh, okay. Hopefully he fixed it, seeing as though that thing is. (A.) That's a really good toy, as far as I know. I didn't own one. (B.) It's probably worth a ton of money nowadays. Although then again, I probably would want to show my students or siblings the OG Transformers, and show them what toys should be.
I've got a version of this figure but he has metal feet but didn't have the Armorrakker name. Also, no bad plastic seams. All in all it's a better fit to put against G1 Blaster in a display than the G1 Soundwave with a little bit of paint on the face and a Reprolabel 'Con symbol.
You can tell this is a knockoff of the Classics Commemorative Whatever re-release due to the flatter shape of the play buttons, the moulding on the inside of the cassette door and the weirdo head.
I remember I used to own a knock off optimus prime and now I another one I got from Tuesday Morning is a train transformer looks ridiculous but it's alright not perfect but fine this year
+rob jackson No, but the pre-Transformers Blaster from the original "Micro Change" Microman line came with a tape that didn't transform which was a tiny AM radio. It's why Blaster's gun has a big hole in it. That's where the earpiece fit in, with the cord wrapped around the stock of the gun.
There is, actually. One example is that there are these dinosaur-transforming figures that have an Ankylosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Dilophosaurus, Parasaurolophus, ect. (See Titanic Bot Bootleg Zone for reference) Another example is that there are these Beast Wars bootlegs that include a transforming dalmation in the line (See Ashens video for reference)
well i mean.... I consider them to tbe the same cause the new TF toys are generally better. I got the Masterpiece Soundwave and it makes the original look like a bootleg.
"Made in China", and yet the rest of the box outside of that little square is in Japanese. I can't read it; I can just tell the difference. Not like I expected Phelous to notice, as learning this technique requires one to walk upon the dark God-forsaken path of liking anime and manga that I not dare wish upon my worst enemy.
I'm happy with my Masterpiece Soundwave but looking at him...I have to do some dusting...he has a fine layer on him...Other than that...I have seen a knockoff Bumblebee at a local dollar store. I kind of felt bad for the poor thing.
I own this bootleg and I had the same problem with the legs.

You should have called him a Decievicon.
Nerd Fish the term decepticon is already a play on the word deception.......it wouldnt have really landed that well
Phelan almost has 666 Likes on this video.
Deceivocons vs Knockoff-bots!!!
The bootleg G1 Megatron I have is called Destroy Monarch.
THAT IS AMAZING!
weprin2 I must have one where did you get it
I would say that was an attempt to say "emperor of destruction," as decepticon leaders are want to call themselves
@@DJTRANCENDENCE They’re always saying “Lord Megatron”, and he (or Shockwave… LOL) kind of rules Cybertron.
From what I've heard, the reason for the double cassette window is because the original Soundwave toy mold had degraded to a point that it could not be used, hence why soundblaster and any toys based off of G1 Soundwave used the double tape window.
"Guess armorrakkour-wave is more of a lefty..."
>shows gun held in figure's right hand
"You're a Pretender?..." "No."
The most underrated joke Phelous ever made.
ARMOURRAKKER superior. Sound Recorder inferior.
"Let's see what he's made of!" *thunk*
"I hate that guy"
And the ending skit with Megatron was hilarious
SOUNDWAAAAAAVE!
My favorite is still Sound Blaster aka The Galvatron version of Soundwave.
I never had Megatron as a kid. Soundwave actually was the Decepticon leader for us. 😁
Soundwave being the decepticon leader actually sounds like a neat idea
Cool review! I’ve seen the toy line at Tuesday Morning, but never saw “Sound Recorder”. I ended up getting “Tornadonumber”. I like that Ravage was included, and realized that this Ravage has no ankles. Then I realized…does Ravage have his weapons? Oh dude…
This reminds of a tonka firetruck transformer I had as a kid. I didn’t even watch transformers as a kid but it was cool.

So today I learnt from that shot of the back of the original box that Soundwave can apparently read minds and hear a fly sneeze. Why did these thing not come up more in the show?
Because the Marvel Comics were the only ones who touched on such potential.
Probally because it would make things more complicated for the autobots to win.
I guess Soundwave....ate too much energon?
more like he watched too much energon and forced fed himself or something while watching to dull the pain
Someone messed with his size-changing controller.
Armorraker: sworn enemy of Billy!
Pretendicon, LOL
12:10 Did he just broke the original's neck??
They have transformers bootleg toys in the same type of packaging at my local flea market
When Transformers meet Super Mushrooms!
The interaction between Soundrecorder/Armourraker and the other Transformers was hilarious. Why is it I'm more attracted to the original figure than the giant one ? And I'm not even a Transformers fan.

I also noticed the cassettes have stickers of Fortress Maximus's weak spots, another trait of the SoundBlaster version.
Soundblaster was also the name of Creative Labs' sound card, which was the de facto standard for PC sound until 2007 when Windows Vista killed off hardware accelerated sound APIs. (7:44)
Does this mean Starscream has competition?
Saw in March 2021
The Transformer Hole has just gotten bigger...plus, it now stores two tapes at once!
Sound Recorder: Superior. Soundwave: Inferior. To someone, maybe.
Should have called him rejecticon
you know that this company made a tiny version of menasor called freighterpan
i actually had freighter pan and the rest of the lines combiners but i gave them away. I think they had liokaiser and a few repaints
The double tape capacity is not actually something the bootleggers did. Takara upgraded Soundwave and Blaster (Broadcast in Japan) into Soundblaster and Twincast and remolded them with the double tape capacity. So -creativity points since they didn't come up with that.

Oh nm. You caught that yourself. I should the whole vid before commenting like a tool
I've got a Soundrecorder/Armourakker like this but mine has die cast feet so has no problem standing. It also didn't have Animated Soundwave on the card art, I guess there are different versions and just based on when they were made
im happy enough with my masterpiece soundwave but i did bought a oversize bootleg defencesor
Radio Shack had a kinda rip off Transformer of Shockwave
which actually sold well & is worth some bucks now
Nope, that version was licensed to Hasbro to make Shockwave
Yep, “Shackwave” is no bootleg, and his rareness is the reason he’s worth so much.
Theirs also the best ones like unique toys line of movie accurate transformers like omgod they even did galvatron from age of extinction
At 4:10 i thought i heard the score from Days of Thunder in the background. About 10 seconds later it sounded like the score played during the G1 Transformers movie when Devastator combines & smashes into Autobot City.
i remember seeing things like these at my tuesday morning i bought golden dragon transformer
That one is one of the best. I have “Tornadonumber”. I already need to replace one missing sticker, and one doesn’t have fists…for some reason.
4:38 and giant responsibility
the card text is Japanese but its made in china?
I guess it was for marketing 🤔
March 2021
Made in China
Has Japanese on the front
A lot of things are made in China yet they have different languages on the packaging.
The one and only HeXaDaast
Just pointing out how silly it looked.
Buzzsaw: the "And the rest" of the Cassetticons
So nothing to do with anything but
Michael Bay has chosen not to have further involvement with the transformers franchise, he’s tired of it
I got my Teachers' Frenzy stuck in Soundwave
Skul Gulaymon why did your teacher give you access to his or her original Soundwave?
+Stephen Collins it was movie time and he let me play with Soundwave
Skul Gulaymon oh, okay. Hopefully he fixed it, seeing as though that thing is.
(A.) That's a really good toy, as far as I know. I didn't own one.
(B.) It's probably worth a ton of money nowadays.
Although then again, I probably would want to show my students or siblings the OG Transformers, and show them what toys should be.
While my Japanese ain't great, I think the text "5体揃えて合体させろ" alludes to a 5 bot combiner team. Seems to be 5 body assortment combine or something.
Lets play footsies
Noooo
Dammm it
Did soundwave actually play tapes?
I believe you're thinking of Blaster, the Autobot variant of Soundwave. His G1 toy actually was a functioning tape player.
1:47 - (screaming in horror intensifies)
Armorraker is a pretty good name, tbh.
red visor, nice!
omg. all this time i wondered why you didn't play the tapes and i just now realized why that, ahem, wont work. cough.
I'm 100% sure that's Japanese ,but I only know that due to the Hiragana and I'm not fluent enough to read it
I ordered one of these off ebay and I seem to have lucked out as all his joints are nice and tight
Looking at the box it seems that this bootleg was primarily distributed in Japan
I WAS going to buy this, just for the oversized Ravage, but i noticed his paws have no articulation. That's enough to have me say "fuck no".
Where can I get the big sound wave I kinda like it
I strive to have as many action figures and toys as you.
3:56
*Pauses the vid & goes down to the comments to see if anyone made a Smooth Criminal joke*
0:21-0:26 if it's from a review (which it likely is) what review is it from?
Troll 3
th-cam.com/video/A5HNVnJnuNA/w-d-xo.html
+Phelan “Phelous” Porteous Thank you Phelan.
Where did you get it
now he match in size as good as blaster
Pretendicon xD
I like the idea of a larger scale figure
Is there a bigger version of Billy?
OMG! I want one of these so bad now, but of course I cannot find one. Anyone have any leads all these years later?
Where can I get that bootleg at 0:11? I'm just a fan of the classics seeker mold
Hahaha!😆 This review is epic.
Does anybody know what video the clip at 0:22 is from?
Is this one big enough to hold actual cassette tapes too? That would be kinda cool. Was hopin you would try that out in the video.
No, it's just a mini cassette instead of a micro.
I have this :D
Soundrecorder looks like a mix between original soundwave and soundblaster
Still a better Soundwave than the one in the live action films
I,m thinking in get one of them
You can tell this is a knockoff of the Classics Commemorative Whatever re-release due to the flatter shape of the play buttons, the moulding on the inside of the cassette door and the weirdo head.
2:00 Bruticus reference?
0:24 what video is that from?
I'm surprised none of these names were used in the Headmaster dub
Nice
we want a buy link, please!!!!! I need It.
At Least There's No Bootleg Of Happy Mouse Gaming! -Kaithedxninja Gaming
It is not a rip off of soundwave it is a rip off/oversized/redeco of Soundblaster from the japanese Headmaster series
what is the music in this ep
I remember I used to own a knock off optimus prime and now I another one I got from Tuesday Morning is a train transformer looks ridiculous but it's alright not perfect but fine this year
I want it for some reason
where do I buy this
Megatrons arm cannon is backwards.
its close to the g2 logo
I really 2anna collect the knockoff faction emblems
i heard sound wave's tapes actually played audio is this true and does the bootlegs?
no there aren't any that do that. at least not for the original. there may be some for a different soundwave I don't know of.
Are there any knock off beast wars?
There is, actually. One example is that there are these dinosaur-transforming figures that have an Ankylosaurus, Tyrannosaurus, Triceratops, Dilophosaurus, Parasaurolophus, ect.
(See Titanic Bot Bootleg Zone for reference)
Another example is that there are these Beast Wars bootlegs that include a transforming dalmation in the line (See Ashens video for reference)
I remember my brother getting a bootleg Optimal Optimus at a Big Lots once. Its head/turret thing broke off almost immediately.
you dont have enough subscribers
Marvin Wegner He deserves more.
We need more SoundArmourrakerRecorderWave.
well i mean.... I consider them to tbe the same cause the new TF toys are generally better. I got the Masterpiece Soundwave and it makes the original look like a bootleg.
where did you get the voice for soundwave
Please do tell
He probably used a voice changer
I got two yeah my are 100% fine
What's the name of that Darude Sandstorm you used during the comparison?
+Sora Song Sarude Dandstorm.
Roxie ღ I already ruined the joke.
Sora Song
It was ruined since it's inception.
Roxie ღ How is it inception?
Sora Song
lol What?

gotta dislike for tossing g1 soundwave.
This comment counts as a thumbs up for all past and future videos current video ..... we shall seee!?!
I'm happy with my Masterpiece Soundwave but looking at him...I have to do some dusting...he has a fine layer on him...Other than that...I have seen a knockoff Bumblebee at a local dollar store. I kind of felt bad for the poor thing.
What was the bootleg Bumblebee?
I'm not shitting you when I say I found some in Florida labeled as ... robots ... I'm not kidding
also ruble frenzy what is the toy called
if I'm talking about the show or comic games and toys I will call them by there name despite the rirfib shit thing
