The secret heals from one and two have been known about for quite some time and I'm talking about 26 years nearly. This was when the internet was basically text only and pages like happy puppy, or game FAQs were all the rage. And everyone knew about these back in the day. They've just been lost to time, even the way back machine doesn't have some of these sites and secrets up anymore. Now, Twisted Metal black? That's another story I didn't know about those.
Yeah, I was gonna say this same thing. I remember them being on Gamewinners or something similar in the late 90s/early 2000s about the TM1/2 full heals, and doing them as a kid. I've been using the TM1 ones in runs since about 1998.
The most shocking part about all of this was there was only 1 found on Suburbs. Took not even 5 hours for the rest to be found except Skyscrapers. Damn greyhounds sniffing these out. Also so happy to kinda be apart of Twisted Metal History.
Really what I figure these are. Leftovers from debugging/testing just before the final release. Possible to be visible then, then later their visual removed. And I am down to bet that these were unintentionally left behind, but removing them would have been too much effort. Pickups with very specific positioning to get? Go figure it took long for it to be so widely noticed.
I'm sure it's documented somewhere online, but another one I've done in TM1 since the late 90s: On Cyburbia, you can destroy a grated corner in the center canal, the one between the oil and the mines, and it has homing and power missiles behind it. There has to be more on that map, it's so big.
Yup I remember this from back in the day. I was trying to find it last year and I knew it existed but couldn't find it. Thank you for confirming I do remember correctly from 1997! Love TM2 as it is my absolutely favorite game of the PS1 with many many memories with my family, cousins and friends. We used to share controllers and have 4 to 6 or more people playing multiplayer with pizza and soda as kids and had a fantastic time.
These were fun to search for. Pretty sick we discovered all this in one day of a series that’s closing in on 30 years of age. Looking forward to when we finally crack the Skyscrapers code.
My brother discovered the church health glitch back in 2002 when I was 9 years old. I was way too young for this game! Yellow jacket face used to scare me.We only thought the church was the only location that did it.
When i was a kid i used to crash into the outside wall on the roadway on the first map and you used to be able to get out of bounds, this was on the PS1 version of TM2. I cant remember if there was any point to doing it.
Ivd found the healths in a few of the levels in tm1. I think you should do a video where you jump out of the map in la in tm 2 and go to the hollywood sign. I can let u know how if you wanna do it

Truthfully, I think this would get seen as a glitch. This wouldn’t be the first time someone asked Jaffe about something in Twisted Metal that he said was unintentional or had no clue about.
It's definitely not a glitch. You really think the same "glitch" would be implemented in three separate games (especially one running on an entirely different system)? Plus these full heals can be found on the PC version of TM2 as well as the PS1 which is even more interesting being that the PC version is a much earlier build than the PS1 counterpart. Very interesting all around!
@@VicariousNickk I can see it happening when it’s the same team. One of the designers or programmers could’ve put it in there without knowing. It was a very similar code across all 3 games, so I wouldn’t be surprised. I’d look into seeing if it’s in Small Brawl because though made from scratch, they brought in the original team that had the code memorized.
I own the TM Black Prima Guide paperback and it has no knowledge of these heals in any of the pages I've read it many times for fun never read about them ever in the book lol this is pretty cool
Dude I play TM Black so much... like SOOO Much... The fact that this is being found out is stunning. It reminds me when i learned about the secret EE in the sewers multiplayer map. Literally wild that people are finding out stuff in a game that is literally 22+ years old!
How about teleportation. No where can I find the code I used to use it to save myself from certain death on Antarctica as I was falling but sometimes it would teleport me onto a location that already fell and it uses to much energy to pull off twice in a row. Not a single mention what to input fir the code. I recall d pad presses and some buttons but it's just even to long and I only used it on the one level making it easy to forget. Frustrating I used it and it seems to be non existing 🙃 100% know thus is real as the car phases out disappears just like the invisible code except the whole screen warps position just like a teleporter pad

10:17 Important to note that the Drive-In heal works without the bridge. Parking on the ricochet under the bridge and jumping will also heal you.

i tested the tm2 la full heal on pc, it works which i find interesting, considering tm2 on pc is an earlier build

I liked to do that against opponents because I couldn't be killed our there well mostly sometimes you fall threw the map and die but it's rare.
Something about this feels more like unintended programming glitches rather than something the developers choose to do 🤔
I remember about the full healths in TM1 from watching Fiendly's playthroughs. But I never knew about them being in 2 & Black.

There is a mod that allows you to do exactly that.But is it extremely hard and you get nine lives

Pretty cool but I probably wouldn't take advantage of them while playing. It would feel too much like a cheap exploit.
LMFAO It isn't that serious my guy. Just play to have fun! If anything, these make the game just a little more "fair" for most players if you ask me
