@@Aaron.Crow512 Personally I don't like it as well! It feels cursed (not in the good way) but if anybody wants to play the game that way, it's perfectly okay! To each its own
Missles and such knocking you in a specific way is unfortunately intentional. It's the worst fucking thing in gaming history. It's a knock into/away from mechanic. Basically if the game wants you in the path of a CPU player it will randomly knock you where it wants you or will knock you into the nearest threat including live weapons, OR it will knock you away from someone you're pursuing or knock you away from an item it seems. I wouldn't recommend getting better at 2 if you don't like it. It's filled with subtle BS that slowly erodes any form of sanity, and there's a lot of little tricks necessary to "shave off time/get good". Ramming is a must (The weak spots are the sides and the back.) even though it's not instinct for you. In Antarctica the sections are more prone to fall if you drive towards them. Audio issues should be present on the OG as well and it probably has something to do with how the engine works for Antarctica and the fact that this game isn't the most optimized (I think the devs mentioned Rogue Trip 2012 having a more optimized engine). IF you want to put yourself through the insane asylum with this game I could definitely make you a private tips and tricks video.
Yes! You are finally playing the goat of the series! Hope you will like the game more by the end your playthrough’s. Also to make the game easier I go after Spectre, Axel, Sweettooth and Shadow first.
I will say for tip if you want to cheese Dark Tooth using the subways specifically using slanted sides of the tunnels his attacks won't connect that great as he'll mostly shoot on down plus bombs are set when he fires those, and you can literally go to town. This will great for melee characters, or if they just need to get close. Will except Twister, or Grasshopper maybe. Other to say great video.
Earned a sub. I played Black back when it was new on PS2. Just got TM2 recently on the PS store. Thanks for the Minion trick staying in the small hidden room!
One tip: on several maps (especially Holland in particular) the best camera angle is zoomed out or even helicopter mode. Gives a much wider FOV to know how to approach clusters of enemies. Helped me on Holland immensely and makes a 0 death run (on medium) fairly consistent.
Adopted that strategy many many years ago. You can also increase your field of view by minimizing your weapon list. I'll take any advantage I can get. Holland is the hardest level IMHO. Constant movement and evasive maneuvers prolong your life greatly. Quite the broken game but adds to the charm. Have played TM2 regularly since it came out.
I know this wouldn't be super lore accurate but it would almost be better if twisted metal tournaments were based off of death matches instead of last Man standing if you look at games like unreal tournament the AI attacks other opponents all the time other than you because they can win off of racked up kills instead of ganging up on the player character I think it's one of the only ways they could really make the Twisted Metal tournament feel alive while still making it feel Fair
15:52 🤣 Also the sound and some sprites glitches may happen even in the vanilla game on ps1 in the Antarctica level. I suppose it's when much of the glaciers have fallen.
Since you mentioned it was the Playstation Version, here are some cheat codes I remember from the top of my head. 1. HOLD L1 + R1 (Infinite Health) Up, Down, Left, Right, Right, Left, Down Up. 2. HOLD R2 + L2 (Infinite Ammo) Same sequence as #1. 3. HOLD R2 Only (Upgraded Machine Gun) [Bullets appear silver instead of gold, and deal double damage] Same sequence as #2 . There's other codes out there like Homing Napalm which was too OP (Besides the self-explanatory, it also made every weapon you had fire without delay) but I used them to finish faster & see everyone's ending cutscene), but I don't recall the code and I didn't look them up. I only provided what I remembered. 35 years old, and I still recollect being 11. Good times.
Cool playthrough! And yeah, you are gonna get better with some practise. Also trying out with different characters is gonna get you out of the comfort zone (at least that is what happened to me) since you are gonna have to deal with each characters limitations (Mr.Grimm having VERY weak armor, Thumper and Outlaw having short-ranged attacks, etc) In addition I will suggest you: 1)Keep an eye on freeze missile spammers, so you can avoid frustration + annoying situations (Roadkill, Slamm and Grimm and at smaller degree Grasshopper, Hammerhead and Spectre) 2)If possible try to combine attacks: you can use ricochets to push enemies and then throw napalm, for example 3)If you ran out of specials, until it regenerates, you can use that time to search more weapons I could keep going, but it would be TOO much text. Hope it is useful!
27:12 Yep. Aggression with remotes and napalm is the best way to deal with him. Works particularly well in the harbor area due to the slopes increasing remote dmg. Also, you can use the rico trick on New York as well. Stay on the grey platform and wait for them to either go up the slope or drop from the building. The second option requires good timing, so it may take some time to learn that one properly.
the title of this video explains my relationship with this game perfectly... I want to like Twisted Metal 2! I think the presentation is GOLDEN! but its just so unnecessarily hard! T~T
Yes, Nick TM2 has a learning curve. The physics are like TM3 as they take a while to get used to. I think playing enough to get used to the handling is worth it. Solid game experience memorable characters and maps. Easily one of the best in the series. Edit. Patreon is a great idea. A lot of content creators have to rely on a more stable income. Ad revenue is ass to base a budget around.
ASSHOLE POWERRRR lol. When I was younger, I always thought he said "attack full power". Holland: camp in the windmills until they get destroyed. From there, run around the perimeter using rear attack. I don't use Patreon, but it is a good idea to start one.
The craziest part of getting internet access was finding out that people hated TM3 and 4 but loved TM1 and 2. I always enjoyed all of them, but back in the day 4 was my absolute favorite.
Another tip: focus more on movement so you isolate one particular enemy away from the group. This avoids getting ganged up on and trapping you in a death huddle.
Yesss!!!! 👏👏👏Edit: in re: Patreon, I would want to join as a member and it’s probably a good idea on your end. I feel like quality TM content is hard to come by and I would want to support what you do. 🔥
Keep practicing and gaining experience it'll become a funner game, after 25+ yrs of playing u can pick up the patterns and habits of the AI cars and how they behave on each map, but yes this game still has some unfair BS that's frustrating- 2 player Co-op is som much fun- one less enemy on each map, you can protect each other from freeze spam, it's so wild and dynamic and you have another complex tactic to coordinate in certain situations, but it takes a lot of practice to get good at. The lesser player gets Minion and i take Warthog- lots of armor to survive. Learn which health kits to take early to keep armor high, and learn which health kits you can save for "the last resort" esp on Holland the "last resort" kit in the haystack right up against the fence.
The way you generally can play and have a better chance of not losing lives is to just play slow and do potshots against enemies with Missiles and Specials. Driving directly toward the A.I is usually not recommended unless you are going for a killshot spam after using freeze. It's probably not the most fun thing to watch, but honestly playing evasive is the way to take less damage in playthroughs and not lose lives in TM 1/2. This is especially neccicary on Hard as the enemy is soooo spammy with specials. This pretty much follows fighting game conventions which TM is heavily influenced by. If you don't dodge/block often you just end up wailing on eachother.
You definitely need to use shield more when approaching enemies I'd say like more than 50% of the time if you have shield you should spam it when going up to people so ram damage doesn't destroy you I would say the biggest problem characters in the game are sweet tooth axel Mr slam and Shadow. outlaw is bad but mostly on rooftop levels outlaws special can also combo you into other characters because it bounces you into the air be aware of attacks that bounce you into the air or knock you back like ricochets or sweettooths cone special
Why wouldn't you just play the PC version? Edit - The PC version is quite obviously the definitive version. If you play them back to back, there's some pretty noticable input lag littered throughout the PS1 version. I can actually beat TM2 PC on Hard with Grimm without losing a continue. That's how much control I have. PS1 version I'd be lucky to get to NY on Normal.
I'd do Patreon, may be some issues creators don't like there, but on UTube ALL I HEAR is constant issues there, not to mention Utube takes a bigger cut of $ there from what i've heard.
"I bet you didn't even used the special attacks like the shield and triple missiles." So you didn't even watch the video? Way to make yourself out to look like a moron

I am a simple man. I see TM2 content, I click. Also, TM2 looks beautiful when upscaled. The smoother framerate is a big improvement.
I think it's actually a downgrade.. the AI weren't made to move that way and it makes some movements like grasshoppers special awkward

If I’m correct, even David Jaffe, the Big Cheese himself hates the Holland level.
