After Deimos was rescued by Kratos, and still held initial resentment toward him, he ultimately reconciled with his brother and joined forces with him to battle Thanatos only to be killed by the God of Death himself. That was not unavenged, however, as Kratos killed Thanatos shortly after. Deimos's death was the final straw which lead to Kratos snapping at the gods and vowing to kill them, which *Kratos ultimately succeeded in doing so, inadvertently fulfilling the Marked Warrior prophecy.*

In GoW 2 and 3 they say Zeus is his father, he is the only one that calls Kratos "son" just like the gravedigger, who is Zeus in disguise. Lastly, Callisto was cursed by him to turn into a monster if she ever revealed the truth, which is why she transforms and Kratos becomes angrier when he had to kill her because of Zeus, another family member he had to kill because of the gods.
I'm guessing that Callisto had a curse on her so that if she ever told Kratos that Zeus was his father, she would transform into that monster and attack him. Evidenced by the fact that she transforms immediately after saying "Zeus."

That's a good question, and the answer is "no" -- there are no bad God of War games. :) Some are better than others of course, but I enjoyed all of them.
Remember that Zeus is Kratos father. I believe they mention that in the second game. Also, Ascencion is the "bad" game (and not necessary to watch). I mean, it still got 80%ish scores, which is not exactly a bad score, but Ascencion is the the GoW game with the lowest score.

As far as I recall…the things in these games outside the trilogy that the Norse games talk about are kinda minimal 😅 I won’t say anything that spoils the newer games in terms of overall story, but they only talk about his brother for like a minute or so (in the combined time of both). It is of course very beneficial to know Kratos’ history to understand his attitude and occasional dialogue in those games. That’s it really. To answer The Oak's question about the orbs, green are health and blue are magic to refill your gauges. Red orbs are blood which you can use to upgrade your weapons.
My personal favorite game of the Greek era for God of War. I plan on going out and finding an old PS3 again mostly to replay this game - as part of the Origins Collection, along with the 1&2 Collection, Ascension, and the Resistance games. That way I'll have all of them to date with GoW3, 2018 and Ragnarok on the PS4.
So, Kratos killed his mother,his father,his uncles Poseidon & Hades,his aunt Persephone,his brothers Ares & Deimos,his sister Athena,and his wife & daughter... And the thing is that he could've stopped at any point, because all the gods that aid him also warned him about the path he was taking. It's even confirmed that the gravedigger was in fact Zeus keeping an eye on Kratos,which means Kratos was actually his favorite as Hercules said in GoW3.

I’m sorry if nobody told you about this before , but if you started this reaction series for the god of war franchise in the chronological order things would’ve made so much more sense to you both and really hooked you up with the story all the way and the order starts with god of war ascension which is the 1 game that you skipped before moving on to god of war 2018 and then ragnarok , 1 more thing to know is that these games that you reacted to so far belongs to the greek mythology , next up in 2018 and ragnarok we visit the norse mythology , hope you guys enjoyed the stories so far because i consider them the absolute best
Yes! Been waiting for this one! You guys can definitely start the new games now. It helps knowing all the context and story behind Kratos's journey up until 2018 God of War. As good as the new ones are, you get even more invested when you actually know who Kratos is and what he's been through. You're definitely gonna enjoy hopping into the game though. The story is phenomenal, the graphics are amazing, and the combat is super fun! As far as the controls go, just like with any game, you'll get used to it over time the more you play. So I wouldn't worry too much about that. Plus we're here to give you any tips you might need to know along the way. My biggest recommendation starting out is to make sure you guys keep an eye open for any collectibles and to explore as much as you can. Oh! By the way, we already know who Kratos's father is.😂 Its Zeus.

Technically if you wish to see everything GOW related the next one is Ascension but honestly you can look at the quick recap of that story off camera, definitely the weakist of the franchise but I still enjoyed it.
I'd say there aren't any strictly bad God of War games. God of War: Ascension does have the lowest score of the 6 OGs but it's still a solid game; it's just the style was getting a bit old after 6 games and it feels like they designed the game specifically for the series veterans with how challenging it can be. There was a 2D mobile game released back in the 2000's that takes place right after the first game called God of War: Betrayal, and that one is the worst just due to being a mid-late 2000's mobile game and very short, but from what I've seen of it it's still pretty good by mobile game standards at the time; it just pales in comparison to everything else in this series (which, let's be honest, is probably the case for any series which has games on consoles and games on mobile; the console games are pretty much always way better)

"Is there a bad God of War game?" - Technically, I'd say no...but God of War: Ascension is kind of the "black sheep" of the franchise. While certainly not a bad game in its own right, it pales in comparison to the other titles and mechanically takes a trip to Clunkytown. It has some incredibly cool setpieces and some badass boss fights, but overall it's a little convoluted with different sections of storytelling broken up across flashbacks and the current time of the game...and while it adds a little context and fills in the gaps with a few characters from Greek mythology that never made it into other titles, it's largely unnecessary. More than anything it suffered from its ambition, really. Ascension was the first God of War game to attempt a multiplayer mode and it felt like a lot of Kratos' combat mechanics existed to reflect the customization options of the PvP mode, which was passably entertaining but TERRIBLY balanced. Plus even on middle-ground difficulty levels, all the enemies had a tendency to feel like HP sponges that resisted stunlocks and interrupted you all the time (which made a combo-based moveset that locked your best attacks behind a high combo string feel REALLY bad). It was just kind of clumsily-designed, though there was plenty of awesome GoW content to be had. The one thing I'll give Ascension was that it had some of the best promo material for a GoW game. There was a live-action advertisement plug called "From Ashes" that I think even aired during the Superbowl, and it was very emotionally-charged and always got me pumped up and excited for the game that ultimately didn't impress most of us too much. A shame to be sure, but the next thing to follow it was 2018's revitalization of the franchise and it just doesn't get much better than that. :D So I'm not personally too upset that they're skipping Ascension. Worth a passing check-out at some point, but as an excuse to postpone 2018 for another week? Hell to the naw lol. You've hit the Greek saga pretty damn well, I say it's time to head to lands beyond. :D

Just a tip before you guys head into God Of War (2018)- The 2018 game is very different than the original God of War games because the developers wanted to give Kratos a new path for his story, but the gameplay is the still the same. The 2018 game won Game of the year when it was released and you guys will really enjoy it!!! You will definitely understand what I mean once you play, but do not expect any of the previous God of War events to be the same once u start 👍🏿
C'mon guys, we waited long enough. Ascension is really not necessary at all. Give us GOW 2018. Its one of the best game of all time and beat Read Dead Redemption for game of the year.
I suggest when you guys do his of war 2018 to start on give me a story and when you find yourselves unchallenged or at least comfortable with the controls and layout then you move up to the next difficulty.
Don't forget God Of War Ascension. It's way newer than these games, and it goes into more depth on what happened after Kratos was forced to murder his family by Ares. It's not really necessary but the newer cutscenes and what they tried to do with the story, was great.

A shame to be sure, but the next thing to follow it was 2018's revitalization of the franchise and it just doesn't get much better than that. :D
So I'm not personally too upset that they're skipping Ascension. Worth a passing check-out at some point, but as an excuse to postpone 2018 for another week? Hell to the naw lol. You've hit the Greek saga pretty damn well, I say it's time to head to lands beyond. :D

Hey guys, love the gaming channel so far! Just a tip before you guys head into God Of War (2018)- The 2018 game is very different than the original God of War games because the developers wanted to give Kratos a new path for his story, but the gameplay is the still the same. The 2018 game won Game of the year when it was released and you guys will really enjoy it!!!
You will definitely understand what I mean once you play, but do not expect any of the previous God of War events to be the same once u start 👍🏿

C'mon guys, we waited long enough. Ascension is really not necessary at all. Give us GOW 2018. Its one of the best game of all time and beat Read Dead Redemption for game of the year.
I suggest when you guys do his of war 2018 to start on give me a story and when you find yourselves unchallenged or at least comfortable with the controls and layout then you move up to the next difficulty.

Don't forget God Of War Ascension. It's way newer than these games, and it goes into more depth on what happened after Kratos was forced to murder his family by Ares. It's not really necessary but the newer cutscenes and what they tried to do with the story, was great.
