  • If you are thinking about getting air conditioning this summer, check into a heat pump and get both air conditioning and heat. You will save money on electric bills and reduce your carbon footprint. Find out more at www.electrifynow.net

What’s the best way to get air conditioning out of our air source heat pump? We are only using ours for hot water and heating the underfloor heating system. We do have some radiators upstairs also.

How are you decreasing energy footprint when the electricity still comes from burning oil and coal?

Thanks for your question. Multiple studies have found that heat pumps reduce carbon emissions compared to gas furnaces everywhere in the US because they are so energy efficient - 3-5 times more efficient than gas furnaces. Everyone in the US can also get 100% clean electricity for only a few dollars extra per month which means that heat pumps produce ZERO emissions. Information about how to get clean energy is available on our website - electrifynow.net/take-action

      He won't know, it's a commercial unit?

    That unit is huge! Why?

Good question - this is serving a large space. Newer units are more efficient and generally much smaller. At the time we installed, this was one of the few side discharge units available - now they are very common and there are lots of options.

Is this really better for environment than air conditioner? I've always hold back from getting ac because of the penguin but the weather these day are too hot.
Would be nice if i could get a cooling without the bad stuff.

Akane - yes heat pumps are better than air conditioners for two reasons - first they are more energy efficient than ac, and second and perhaps more importantly is that they will also provide the most efficient way to heat your home so that means you can eliminate natural gas, propane, baseboard heating or other types of heating which cause much more carbon pollution.

That unit is to close to the wall.. You are losing the efficiency and then it is going to get plugged. Bad install you should have that fixed.

It looks closer than it is... :)

Actually newer models tend to have ducting in such a way that te back can be quite close to the wall. Don't place anything in front for 2 meters though
