The reason the rear end on Chevy trucks is narrower than the front is so that the rear tires aren't in the exact same rutt as the front tires. They've done that since the late 7
60s I believe. Maybe early 70s

For whatever reason that white paint on the 2006 Chevy’s always flakes and peels off. My brothers white LBZ has the same issue, he went to wash it after buying it and all the paint on his tailgate just flew off 😂

From my understanding, the idea behind the narrower rear end was to keep the rear tires out of the same ruts as the front tires while off road, so mainly it was for traction. Correct me if I'm wrong, but S10's were the same way
