That OG Duramax is a beast. I would try to keep it stock as much as I could outside of going with bigger tires.
You have to throw a 68mm dansville turbo, 45 over injectors, 10mm cp3, and a fass system lift pump. That’s if you just want to run 700hp. 700 will be a lot to handle let alone 1000. And you can always add different tuning to get that 300hp more. But definitely use that combination. Best and most reliable setup. Dansville or Ryan’s that’s for you decide on turbo. I prefer Ryan’s. Get a reman turbo just so you know it’s been gone through and correctly and Ryan himself said they’re reman turbos actually last longer than they’re fresh turbos. For trans look into No zone diesel. I have spoke with no zone and they have great customer service and get back to you quick.

Best year of chevys hands down just picked my 06 up in March. Won't a durmax but a 5.3 fully loaded with only 7k miles👀.

Hey Braydon I can’t wait to see the videos on this truck btw, I would recommend polishing the headlights if you plan on selling them or using them.
Do you have any polishers if you don’t I would get Milwaukee polishers or whatever you want.
You should hit up custom offsets for parts!
Know it’s clean when it’s got original rockers can tell by the spot welds

Very nice. I bought my first duramax (lb7) bout 2 year ago and its amazing. Been a chevy guy since day one. Been doing upgrades since the day I got it! Not sure what your plans are with the truck. But I'd recommend fass or airdog pump with a sump. I'd get some bigger injectors. And prob a 64mm turbo.. but with those mods gunna have to beef the trans
