    Things you don't want to hear your pilot say: "What was that I just turned on?" 🤣

    This DCS module is missing the Garmin or iPhone duct taped next to the HUD that real Russian helicopters use.😉

    How do you get the english text on displays, like the abris? I have english cockpit selected, but displays are still in russian.

      In Gameplay options there is a setting labelled "avionics language".

    I've a feeling good old auto-start is going to become my friend again for this module... Is there a shortcut to snap all the switch covers off as that would make it less fiddly :)

    Hello mate. Thank you for the video. As I understand the fire system check is not in your Startup, because it is not modeled in the current build? One thing that I am hesitant about is the alignment you use. I figure since you use the accelerated alignment it is ok to have the engines running - I am pretty sure that in the precise and normal alignment you should avoid having the engines running when performing the start up. So basically do the alignment before you start the engines. Please share your experiences.

    I guess the alignment for this module is damage right now, I cannot have a proper function with the Data link and the target rotator

    Question, in the original KA-50, the by the books startup calls for powering on the INU, K104 and ABRIS immediately after turning on EKRAN. Do you think we can still do this in that stage and start a precision alignment earlier in the startup rather than later? Or does the INU need gen power from both engines running? So far I have been starting up as I usually do and both the PVI and Abris feed nav info and I can enter nav info, but there is always a slight discrepancy between data between them now.

    • @draeath
      @draeath ปีที่แล้ว

      The old checklist I have has me turning the INU heat and power on immediately after the ekran and hydraulics. It doesn't cover doing a standard or precise alignment at all, though. I didn't even know that was a thing in this ship!

    I’m lost I’m following this and other videos exactly but cannot get the engines to actually start I do everything up until the point after I’ve pressed the starter to attempt a start on engine 1 the gauge starts moving I move the correct fuel lever into place and nothing it sits at “2” on the gauge for roughly 10 seconds then returns to 0 I’m not sure what to do I’ve been sitting here for 3+ hrs and can’t even start the damn engines one other thing I was struggling with is the switch directly to the left of the starter selector switch needed to be in the middle position otherwise nothing happened when I pressed the starter for engine 1 this is my first time using the black shark at all (yes I’m using the 3 model I’m not that dumb lol) so I know nothing about it
    Edit: I just tried to run through the eagle dynamics training lesson for the cold start and I’m having the same issue something may be either bugged or more likely has been updated/changed from the time this video was made to now (January 21 2023)

    • @deephack
      @deephack  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sounds like you still have the rotor brake on, it's a black round handle underneath the fuel levers. There is an interlock on the starter so that when the brake is on pressing the start button does nothing. By putting the start mode selector into the middle position you are commanding a crank instead of a start. This mode works even with the brake on as no fuel will be introduced and the turbines will just be spun. This is used to clear excess fuel in the turbine after a failed start.

    • @adampuryear2695
      @adampuryear2695 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deephack I will try again just went to get some food but I’m certain I had the rotor brake off like I watched the video over probably 50 times and this is my 4th heli in dcs (Huey, apache, gazelle, now this)

    • @deephack
      @deephack  ปีที่แล้ว

      Other thing to check would be the throttle levers on the back wall. I haven't tested this but I would assume a failed start if they are not in the full down IDLE position.

      @adampuryear2695 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@deephack alright so here was the issue and this makes no sense but I have a winwing hotas so I use a lot of my buttons/switches to do the startup well I have the start selected engine button bound to a button on my throttle base well when I start the apu using that button to start it works just fine but I cannot use it to start my engines for some reason I must use my mouse to click that button I’ve been trying it with my physical button this whole time and that’s why it wasn’t working

    Procedures for aligning the INU and HSI heading have changed with BS3, this startup procedure is wrong now, you have to align the INU prior to engine start.

    • @racingtheweb
      @racingtheweb ปีที่แล้ว

      Before or after turning on the APU?

    • @deephack
      @deephack  ปีที่แล้ว

      Both ways are possible, you can align before or after engine start. I prefer to do so after engine start in case it's a cold day and I get too much of a battery voltage drop which could interrupt the INS align.

      Apache is a cast iron B1itch to fly well. Just my opinion. And super complicated.
      Ka-50 is more straightforward and has more kaboom!

      @@pinkfloyd7572 how is it to fly without a collective as i am not spending 500 quid on the collective at least not yet.

    • @racingtheweb
      @racingtheweb ปีที่แล้ว

      I like the Apache because it is a regular helicopter with one main rotor and a tail rotor, besides the KA-50 has two main rotors and just a big rudder on his tail. So if you learn to fly the Apache you can fly all other helis (such as the Hip, The Hind and the Huey). I cannot say vice versa.

    • @oldmanfunky4909
      @oldmanfunky4909 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The BEST starter helicopter for a beginner in DCS is probably the Huey. But of course it doesn't have all the bells and whistles. Also the Blackhawk MOD is a great starting Heli as well. Maybe even more so since it is free!

      @@gibmeister5854 I use a Thrustmaster 16000/TWCS HOTAS, often on sale at Amazon, and it flies really well. I don't use pedals.
      But you absolutely have to watch some tutorials about the kinda-always-on Ka-50 autopilot or the chopper will drive you insane. Once you get it, it's great. And you can try the Ka-50 for free for two-weeks.
