@@boogerwood just give me a heads up. We have a great breakfast crew that meets at the restaurant on the field and is a great way to start the day. 8-am MWF. Let me know if you are coming as I may be traveling.
I'm a pilot and I watch partly to be entertained, but also to learn. I particularly enjoy hearing about the planning process, how weather comes into play, why a certain route is chosen, etc. We all do it when we plan a flight and I love picking up tips from others. Thanks for your content!
Weather is a tricky one isn't it? I am hoping to get some good flights this Fall where weather is a factor in my decisions. Spoiler alert- I try to avoid it if at all possible.
What I like most about your videos is that they are so satisfying to watch. I feel like I'm right there with you in the right seat, and you're taking the time to talk to me while you're flying the Centurion. You've become one of my top aviation content creators, and I appreciate you. Thank you. 😊
Appreciate your “backstory”! Thank you for sharing! As for your poll, I am conflicted. I really like the planning aspect and glean a ton watching the flying portion. Both components help to give me insight for my IR check ride (when I can get it scheduled). Thank you for all you do. -Lee
Thanks for the video Matt, I am watching from 40,000 ft somewhere between Honolulu and Hong Kong after waking up from my rest period. I have another hour before going back into the cockpit.
@@TheFlyingSalesman my interest in aviation is as a spectator these days. I did my private licence in the 80’s with the intention of doing my commercial but I let setbacks and delays sidetrack me and it never happened. I still enjoy watching videos about all things aviation so channels like yours are really entertaining. Thanks for caring enough to bring us all along for the ride. Cheers.
What some of us would like is to see the complete layout of your panel and how you set everything up. I’m interested in what automation, auto pilot etc. you have. When you cycle your prop three times, show everybody each time the rise in manifold pressure, the slight decrease in oil, pressure and the RPM drop.
Hmmm- Any interest in a video that is just related to preflght? In other words everything including preflight walkaround up-to takeoff? That could be a video and then the flight could be it's own video.
Matt I am a new subscriber to your channel. Enjoy your presentation and the details of the various aspects of flight. When I can learn a nugget from a video it is worth my time to watch. Your content is full of your tips and tricks. Thank you for the time it must take to put out a quality video. Keep it up and good luck to your channel.
Thanks for posting . I'm learning a lot from your videos especially the IFR flight planning. Please show more of them Do you recommend buying an iPad with cellular data for the internal GPS or just a Wi-Fi iPad?
Will do. My iPad is NOT cellular but, I can use my iPhone as a Hotspot if need be. I recommend one or the other. Having Foreflight on both devices makes it nice because I can do all the briefing and weather updates on the phone and then jump in the plane and go with the iPad on the yoke. The videos where I used data in the plane, it is connected to my phone. However, if I was not using the iPad to show you the planning, I would do it all on my phone, even the filing.
Great question! I haven't been night current since 2000! When I was hired by Aero-Mach, the owner told me I could do whatever I wanted in his airplane, "just don't fly at night". That was his rule and when he passed away, I just stuck with it. His son now owns AM and he does not have this rule but leaves the decision to me. So for me, I just get to where I am going before dark. I know it sounds funny but after flying this way for so long, I never feel like I need to fly into the night to get somewhere.
@@TheFlyingSalesman i’ve been keeping my night currency just in case I have to fly after dark. I enjoy flying at night because it is smoother and it helps with times that I am not in IMC but still need to use instruments to get where I’m going. Other aircraft are easier to spot. The only danger like anything else is if you have an engine failure it’s a lot more challenging and dangerous to try to find a suitable landing spot when you can’t see the layout of the terrain. Any challenge I can get keeps me more a proficient pilot. Not only that three takeoff and landings at night to a full stop also satisfies the requirement of the three landings during the day. According to your videos, you seldom take if any passengers with you, so the 90 day currency is probably not an issue. By the way, that question I posed to you about KIRK with the VOR - A approach, I find at 100 kn if you turn at .7 nautical miles, you could land pretty much on the final approach course with the CDI centered. As I complete the turn on course, I can then descend down to the circling minimum. Challenging approach, but if you’ve got GPS your minimums are lower so I don’t ever see the need to use a VOR approach anyway. Great video!
Great video Matt, thank you for your kind words regarding Aero Mach. We are proud to have you as part of our team!
Thank you sir!

I am thinking about splitting the videos- a pre-flight with planning and then the other video picks up at take off. What do you think?
Matt, I’m good either way. I would imagine editing for 2 separate videos would prove to be quite time consuming.
IFR flight planning, decision making, full trips, please. Thank you Matt.
