We are close to finalizing the deal,
    1) Post from a facebook group.
    2) From Swiss-Italian couple with a Kid, subleasing apt., Near to school and a very good locality.
    3) We had a house viewing online.
    4) He is clarifying all the questions that we are asking.
    5) We are planning to have a house viewing through a friend in a few days, they are ok and available.
    6) However contract is written and sent over to us, Keys will be handed over only when we land and inspect the house.
    7) All conversations seem genuine.
    What are the red flags?

If the viewing goes fine, there shouldn’t be a problem!

@@beingindianingermany Thanks for answering. Forgot to ask in the last point, what about securing the house with a 1 month deposit. Should we give any token advance even like half month's rent or 1 month rent before we move and finalize.

He actually insists on 1 month deposit, which is nearly 2k Euro. His argument is that "500 Euro works for ppl registered in Germany, as they have legal protection with the contract, When I moved I also paid 2-3 months upfront since I did not have anmeldung, shufa, past landlord references etc. So in this case after we have a house viewing through friend and sign the contract remotely you pay 1 month deposit".

I paid 3 months deposit. Make sure it’s mentioned in the contract

@@beingindianingermany But is it still safe to pay 1 month deposit as an advance being in India itself, before we land there in august. By just doing a house viewing. Can anything go wrong after he takes that 2k Euro.

Thank you for the video. Can you pls try to stay very close to the mic? Your voice is too low and even after increasing my speaker volume to 100% the voice is still low. Thanks.

It is very confusing when you are mixing Hindi and English - stick to English for a wider audience.

It makes me afraid to go to Germany now because how will I find the accomodation which I need among thousands of scams whom to trust and whom to not?

    • @beingindianingermany
      @beingindianingermany  ปีที่แล้ว

Don’t worry. Trust your instincts. Never give money until actually looking at the property either in person or via video call.

@@beingindianingermany Exactly. The best way you can test to see if it's a scam is to ask the renter if they would be willing to show the apartment in person or via video call. If they don't and make excuses as to why they can't, chances are, it's a scam.
