Rotus is a professional financial and economic journalist and knows his onion. 😂😂 truth is Rotus is right and Rufai is right likewise, in the coming days and months we will understand why. Yes its a differential and it's math and the naira may most likely appreciate. Truth is every other currency having USD as the quote currency is currently appreciating. Why so? Higher interest rates meant more strength for the US dollar. So differential or no differential lowering interest in someway reduced the strength of the US dollar as compared to other currencies. Now what rufai means, this doesn't necessarily mean that the Naira is doing well. We all know the government will look for the slightest appreciation to say yes, the naira is performing well. Based on economic projection the naira is still in a bad place, based on our numbers, inflation, food inflation, production, export, employment and all, we are still not having any improvement. So in the short term the naira will appreciate but long term we are still headed down.

    There was actually no cause for alarm and both of them should just be open minded to different opinions as against coming to the show with the mindset of counter arguments. Rufai was simply saying the Federal Govt should not claim their policies are working if we starts seeing appreciation in Naira because it’s as a result of the US cut rate. Rufai went af hominem, a thin-skinned immature response. Rotus was also not innocent as he also set the tone with some subtle snide remarks which were not directed at anyone in particular so there was no need for Rufai to take the bait.
    The Nigerian culture of seniority came into the show and I don't have a problem with that. They were acting like rival kids and Dr. Abati set them straight.
    There are better ways to frame a divergent position - if Rotus and Rufai were TRAINED JOURNALISTS they would have known how to word their points professionally

  • @noneyourbiz
    @noneyourbiz ชั่วโมงที่ผ่านมา

    Expertise doesn't mean your submissions cannot be challenged. They are actually meant to be challenged AND HOW YOU REPLY DETERMINES HOW EXPERT YOU ARE on the subject. It is the manner of making the 'expert' presentation that is the problem here and the way the presentation was challenged was also problematic. The two men are not TRAINED JOURNALISTS and they - ESPECIALLY RUFAI - have VERY POOR broadcasting skills. Rufai was at a point making mocking chuckles while Rotus was speaking - that is terrible and not what a skilled broadcaster would do. And he is ALWAYS doing this when he disagrees with a co-host or a visitor. It is BAD manners. They - especially RUFAI - need solid broadcasting training especially around body language while on air; tone of speaking and ways of framing submissions, responses and questions. Rufai should also be told to STOP SNEEZING AND COUGING INTO HIS MIC.

And what do you mean by your "cost price"? I'm talking determination, not general definition. Don't be too confident about things you don't understand very well Rotus.
    How could you talk about your (and his) so-called "guaranteed margin" (whatever that means) and cost of processing, and at the same time declare that pricing is not in your hands? I assume you were referring to the manufacturer, Dangote Refinery in this case. I don't mean to be insultive, but really how dumb is that? Is it a ghost that will figure out those for you?
    Let me put it simple, if it is your
    market (because it seems you have a strange definition of market) that is determining the price, why are you bothering us with "guaranteed margin" and cost of processing? Even going by what you both call whatever you both mean by "guaranteed margin", guaranteed margin exists only in Heaven, ok?? Get that clear.
    And if what you both mistakenly copied and pasted is guaranteeing of margin, that is opposite of what you're both preaching, and different from your meaningless "guaranteed margin"!
