Alps 2021 - Maloja Pass - Switzerland - BMW R1250 GS Adventure

- In this video I go from Colico Piano on the shores of Lake Como in Italy to Maloja Pass and I continue further to St. Moritz although not in this video (possibly a new video) and then I will return via the same pass(definitely a new video).
Maloja is a picturesque short pass with a maximum altitude of 1815m. The asphalt is great and the road wide although I found significant traffic both ways, even on a week day during work hours so be advised that this route although good has traffic.
The pass has a few hairpins but nothing too technical due to the wide roads and good visibility.

Hahaha 🤣. Thanks Vance. Yes that was annoying, I could understand if the person was elderly but it wasn’t even the case. If you can’t drive get off the road and take the bus. These types of drivers cause accidents. People get frustrated behind them and end up taking more risks than they should.

Thank you. Yes the gopro doesn’t do it justice and TH-cam really compresses my videos and ruins the quality. The original video had a lot more definition. It’s a pity. I’m going to try Final Cut Pro and see if I can get better quality exports and uploads.

Yes this is a lovely pass, beautiful little villages and nice wide road. Only down side to a nice wide road is traffic. I would advise to go early or late to avoid as much of it as possible. I’ll be posting the descent too and the ride to St. Moritz from here which is not mountainous but has fantastic views.

Thank you. Glad you’ve enjoyed it. It’s a nice easy pass to do. Wide road and good pavement. The downside to that is traffic… can’t have it all though and the lakes past Maloja on the road to St. Moritz with the backdrop of the mountains are fantastic too.

How long was the whole trip and were you actually there in October?
Hi the whole trip including the Ferries was 14 days. Ferries are 2 days, one each way. I was there until the end of August. Return to Ireland on the 1st of September.
What tank bag do you have on your R1250 GS Adventure?
