Good Things Come in Small Modules #6 - Quantum

- There are some modules in VCV Rack that I cannot imagine how life was before they existed. One of these modules is Quantum from the ML Modules. Coming from a DAW environment, where the piano roll just lets you enter notes in any scale you want, it's easy to forget how big is the role of the quantizer in a modular environment. Well, Quantum is more than your average "give me some voltage and I'll correct it for you" quantizer. It has some really nifty features like gate and trigger outputs, a possibility to transpose the scale, and also to use external sources like s&h or your midi keyboard to toggle notes on and off. So in this video, we will start by looking at all the different sections of Quantum, and then we will build a patch from scratch, utilizing all its nice features.
Here is the final patch - patchstorage.com/good-things-...

Omri, this was INSANELY inspiring. You validated so many ideas that were merely half-formed and impractical in my mind. You are a smart dude. I gotta go try some of this stuff out!
Hey, Nick, thank you so much! I'm glad you liked it :)
Thankyou Omri, I'm really grateful for your videos and comments
Cheers, my friend!
Thanks again, Omri. I love the small modules series! I use Quantum in most of my patches, it's good to see an in depth tutorial like this!
Thanks, Francisco! Yeah, it's a beautiful module...
This is insane! You can’t imagine how thankful I am to you!
I'm happy I could help :)
you know, i’ve been using quantum for what feels like about a year now and still didn’t know to use the note/toggle inputs together to turn notes on and off, so thanks Omri! excellent video!
Hey Adi, I'm happy I could help :) Quantum is an amazing "little" module...
This is a great overview of the Quantum module. I’ll definitely use these tips and tricks going forward!
Excellent Sean! Thank you :)
The mighty little Quantum. Easily in my top-5 of modules. I think I've only not used it in a couple of patches. Good tutorial Omri, thanks!
Thanks, Lars! Yes, Quantum is also a regular visitor in my patches...
Excellent video, as always. Thank you !

Thanks, just uploaded my first patch I found worthy of uploading and your videos have been a great help for getting to that point.
Your videos are down to earth, to the point and highly effective. and I haven't even mentioned anything yet about the sounds you get out of vcv rack. its amazing

Hi Omri, Did you tried Frank Buss fromula module? it's a very powerful module, I like to see how you use it in different scenarios.
I wouldn't even know where to start... I don't have the slightest clue when it comes to functions and mathematics. Sorry...
@@OmriCohen-Music It's ok, btw It has a great tutorial on github.
Yeah, I think I saw it, but it's way over my head... Maybe one day I'll sit down and learn it all from scratch :)
Is there a real, hardware quantizer module with the inputs (especially nottle and toggle) Quantum has?
I have to be honest, I didn't really find a quantizer with this feature...
@@OmriCohen-Music Pity. They're useful in generative patches.
Yes, totally, I love this feature on Quantum, it can add so much life to a patch.
