It has an ADDR mode that you can use with a random source for random switching.
Hey Omri, great stuff as usual. What could serve as the ML 8 to 1 sequential switch in the real world? I saw Erica Synths has a switch but are there other brands that the ML is based off of?

No worries :) Do you mean that you want to arpeggiate the guiter? This will not work but you can sample the guitar in VCV with something like Simpliciter and than play the sample with the arp.

How does one figure this out themselves?? Any book reccs? Also do you think harmontig does monophonic well such as basslines?
Well, there's a really good manual written for it so it's a good place to start, I guess. And yes, you can use only the Root output, but it really is made more for chords.

I'm trying to use a sequencer to automate the chord quality of the Harmonàig. The lights showing the kind of chord change according to the CV, but it still puts out the same kind of chord every time. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong?

Omri, you were using some kind of a table or maybe it was even a calculator for a delay settings in one of your videos. I thought it was this one, but not... Do you remember the episode number or would you be so kind and write here what table / calculator it was?

When I load the Arp patch, the chords aren't triggering. I've tried recreating the patch but still can't get it to work. Anyone have any ideas?

@@OmriCohen-Music I just checked again and for some reason the patch was loading with the output from Tangents going to the mix cv input of Electric Ensemble instead of the input. All working now, thanks man. x
General question both in VCV and Euro. What is generally the result if you have multiple things in the signal chain trying to quantize? Especially if they are wanting to use different scales. Seems like a likely disaster ;-) I wanted a Harmonaig, but was never able to find one. My uO_C will likely serve me well. The Instruo seems to have some unmatched features though.
Well, if you want different scales than yeah, I guess that there will be some chaos but it depends on what you're looking for. Some people like this chaos and it can sound ok even at times. What I like to do is have only a few notes programmed and not the whole scale so if I use multiple quantizers I can program different notes on each and it will still work together somehow.
If you just plugged on quantizer into another, it would work sort of like a harmonic AND gate (but not really). So the original CV says play A+10cents. Quantizer 1 is set to a scale that has A available, and sets the CV to A. Quantizer 2 has a scale that doesn't have A, but does have B, and quantizes the signal to B.
Second example, CV says A+100 cents (an A#). Quantizer 1 has A and B but not A#, is set to round up, Quantizes the signal to B. Quantizer 2 is set to have A and C, but nothing between, so C is the result.
I think there are some possible clever tricks you can mess around with here. Polytonality can often be used to describe chords written more informally - for example a Cmaj79#11 is the same as combining C major with B minor, so it's two ways of writing the same thing. When such chords are used in orchestral writing, I believe there's a greater tendency to refer to them as polytonal, rather than using the "jazz" notation.
One of my favourite examples of this is using the II chord with the I chord (e.g. D with C, both major) to create a lovely Lydian feel (used for a lot of sci fi movies as it has an alien kind of feel but not unpleasant). So you could have two quantisers, tuned to C major and D major, perhaps alternate between them for a while, then suddenly bring them together and reveal the "hidden Lydian music within" :D
I hope that all makes sense. As a pianist I love to experiment with polytonal chords, and I'm keen to get started with VCV (I just installed it the other day).
@@macronencer I'm not excluding the possibility of inventive ways to use multiple quantizers in a patch, but a polytonal scale or mode would just be a single quantizer setting that includes all those notes. The second example would need two quantizers in parallel with a switch to change scales, and a third quantizer with the combined scale on another switch setting. Quantizers are excluders, patching them in sequence just excludes from an excluded list.
@@corrinmana9324 Sorry, I hadn't seen your comment when I posted mine: I was replying to the original comment (I really don't like the way TH-cam flattens everything!). I understand your point, but perhaps there are other approaches. You could feed the CVs from two quantisers into a sequential switch triggered from the same clock, so that the output alternated between the two. If the switch allowed CV to select the output then you could even randomise each selection from a S&H source, or set it to stay on one input, as desired.
I love the harmonaig and I use it for almost every quantization i use in my patches. I just hope that they fix the "bugs" and introduce the programming feature of the last four chord quality settings. I read an interview about the development process at instruo and they are developed by a few internship guys from a university over there. I really hope that they are still there and will fix some of the bugs (Sync issues, settings not saving to the presets, VC-Inputs not working)...
I didn't notice any issues but the best would be to write them so they know what to work on.
@@OmriCohen-Music Oh I did, I emailed them at the end of december but never got an answer. Issues with harmonaig: "Chord Quality CV-Input" not working. Chord Quality 1 - 4 not programmable, Mode (from the right click menu) not saved to preset so not possible to switch mode via 8face for example, Activating Transpose works only if you move the slider after activation.
@@mosesve1 About the chord quality, did you make sure to click the diatonic button first? It will not work otherwise.

Yeah, it's a Eurorack emulation so most thing will work the same as in hardware.
