I'm a bit late to the party but your presentation has been the most fulfilling I have found. I've been using a phone for Audax cycling in Australia but as you know they have their flaws. Battery life is important along with reliability and the Etrex 30x was going to be my choice until this review. Also your website for support looks second to non. Superb for people like me but unfortunately I'm in the wrong country.
You are right, you will struggle with this unit in heavy rain. This may be why it was discontinued a number of years ago now. Most of the Garmin units these days have buttons. I hope this helps.
Hi thank you apologies we should have said ANT+ which is an ultra-low power, 2.4 GHz wireless communication between the GPS device and the Tempe sensor etc, Kind Regards GPS Training
Do you know how well the "touch scrolling" works when *custom* maps are loaded? I worked out a way of creating my own custom maps from screenshots from the OS Maps site, but on my Etrex 20 (which I unfortunately seem to have lost somewhere and need to replace) this was by far the weakest feature, it took ages to scroll around the "active position" screen using the button, such that it really wasn't worth doing, and in general the maps loaded really slowly, eg if if was left dormant for a couple of miles of hiking so it needed to reload to the current position when reactivated. Or could this be because they don't really want you to do your own maps, instead of buying theirs, so it works fine with commerically-purchased ones? I would be happy to send you one of my maps to try if you like.
Please accept my apologies, but I don't know an awful lot on custom maps, if you want to book some time with one of our tech support team (sadly we would have to charge you for this) please just email me from our website and you can book some time with someone who knows far more than me.
Sadly the eTrex Touch 25 has been discontinued, but the 35t had a barometric Altimeter (giving improved accuracy) and you can also wirelessly share and tether to a mobile phone for live tracking. I hope this helps.
@@van_island_legend2980 Sadly I don't know what local maps units sold in your region comes pre loaded with. I would contact your local Garmin support line and ask them the question.
Hi! , nice video, looking to switch from montana 650 to eTrex touch 35, and I have a question, do you know if it will work in center Asia ? Kazachstan ? and if there is map for Kazachstan, we like to cycle there . it will be great to get any help :-)
Hi! about its battary working time, is mean that you can always turn on the screen, read the speed and distance information. Or still like a mobile phone, it will auto turn off ? Thanks!!
Many thanks for your comment, we always say you get 8 - 10 hours out of a 'good' set of batteries. As you rightly say it depends on the screen you are on etc etc. Garmin's also do have a 'battery save' option that switches the screen off after a certain time (you select this) but the unit still records and is navigating. This will improve the battery life. I hope this helps.
I prefer the Touch 35, as it has the same functionality as the Oregon 700 range (but it is smaller). It's one of the 'new generation' GPS units. The only time I would push the 32x is if you did lots of winter walking with gloves on, as the Toucch 35 is a touch screen unit.
Yes, you can plan your walks directly on the unit. Alternatively if you want to download pre planned routes (.gpx files) look at the Garmin GPSMAP66s as this works alongside an app so you can transfer these files from your smartphone/ tablet onto the GPS unit.
Hi I would make sure your unit has the latest software updates, you can use Garmin Express Software to check for updates, make sure in Setup System that the battery type matches the type of batteries you are using, finally I would perform as hard master reset as per the instructions on the link below: gpstraining.freshdesk.com/solution/articles/6000135980-how-do-i-perform-a-master-reset-on-my-etrex-touch- I hope this helps, Regards GPS Training

It's 2020 and that device looks like from 2000, boot time is probably at around one minute?
Garmin's tempe sensor and Garmin's bike sensor does not work using BT but using ANT+.

How different is it compared to the Geocaching App which can be downloaded to SmartPhones?

you can also save battery life by choosing less light on the screen.
Whcih is better the Etrex Touch 35 compare or the Etrex 32X?

is the screen real glass?
Yes, gorilla glass.
@@ukgpstraining ok Thanks!
I wish Rod Stewart was selling us GPS units in the USA :p
Can you see another garmin etrex users location with the etrex 35?
Thanks for your question, no you can not see other users location. This is a stand alone navigator, rather than tracker.
Look good I don't have internet or a PC can I still use it
