  • Join us as we go on an overlanding adventure and take our jeep with its rooftop tent to explore the less known parts of the Salton Sea. We explore the surrounding canals, a secret oasis, the Eagle Mountain Trestle, Bombay Beach, Slab City, and eventually end up in the amazing Sandstone Canyon of Anza Borrego State Park. Come along!
    This is my first foray into making longer content...I've been making 10-12 minute videos for a while now, but have realized there is so much more you can say in the longer video...let me know what you think of it!

    Super excited to share this longer-format video of our adventure! With so much extra content, I knew this wouldn't squish into a 15 minute video, so here it is, our Salton Sea adventure! Hope you enjoy it, if so, check out our recent trip to Anza Borrego where we talk more about the formation of Sandstone Canyon here: th-cam.com/video/1CciaVGUczI/w-d-xo.html

    Love this video! What a great trip that was! I loved watching this as a long, format Doc! Very well done. My favorite part was the tsunami warning system! Ha ha ha.

    This was a refreshing take on the typical Salton Sea trip. Most videos are negative, this was positive and upbeat. Loved the camping and your friends meeting up. Never seen those areas in a Salton Sea video, The steak and hash browns sure looked good. Great to see families out spending time together. And you saved a Benz from the sand. Hello from NC.

    Great video, have you ever camped at the end of Sand stone Canyon? I've seen several people camp there. That would be a epic spot to camp. About the only thing I don't like about Fish creek is the washboard road. Aside from that, the place is awesome to explorer.

    • @DocWrangler
      @DocWrangler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I’ve never camped there since it’s an area that would have folks driving through your camp (sometimes at night)…my favorite spot is the one in our recent Anza video, check it out!

    Did Salton benefit from the record snowfall and storms that hit the rest of Cal. this past year?

    • @DocWrangler
      @DocWrangler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The only water flowing into the sea other than the occasional flash flood is the runoff from the irrigation, which is pretty regulated. It got a bit more water than usual because it was raining in the desert around it, but not like the rest of California’s reservoirs that drain on the ocean side or from the mountains

    What is your short antenna on the back top of the Jeep? Which frequencies? Would you tell me more please

    • @DocWrangler
      @DocWrangler  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That’s a weboost cellphone booster…it mainly helps keep the data connection on your phone working…now that I have starlink it’s a little less needed, but nice to have…and it definitely works (I’ve tested it off and on)

    What is that mounted on your passenger side cowl?

    • @DocWrangler

      That is a modular snorkel from rugged ridge. At that level, it doesn’t really add lunch to the water, fording depth, but it does function as a cold air intake. If you look at some of my pictures on Instagram or other videos, you can see when I had the snorkel actually fitted onto it.
