Part 2 of The Real Life Gypsy Wedding! Claire and Paddy's wedding reception was held at Blenheim House in Batley. it was a simple family wedding with so much love and happy people.
Lovely to see the bride dance with her father. This was the nicest traveler wedding video I have ever seen, very low key, no drama. Or is that all made up for TV? Or at least dramatically videoed? I loved this beautiful brides dress, it was lovely and tasteful. The family was so nice, the sisters all so pretty.
That's beautiful Janice! Thank you! I think the TV shows have to choose the families that are like to go a bit wild, but I don't exactly know how they are able to predict that. Drink plays a heavy part and I have seen fights break out at previous traveller weddings. Sometimes things get out of hand late at night, and I hear about it the next day, but I generally don't stay on after about 9.30pm. Travellers have this sweet tradition of family dances, after the bride and groom have had their first dance, so am glad you spotted that too. This family were a delight to observe, so definitely one of the sweetest I've had the opportunity to meet in the traveller community! It's also good to be able to redress the balance in public perceptions of a community on rhe whole. Thanks again Janice for your beautiful feedback..xx
This is actually one of the best gypsy wedding's that I've seen. The venue and the reception were beautiful not alot of people but still looked like everyone was having an amazing time.
Yes, it was a sweet family wedding. They just invited close friends and family, as weddings are expensive. it didn't need to be a huge wedding for them all to enjoy themselves, did it? Blenheim House in Batley is also known to be very good value, compared to other wedding venues.
Beautiful bride. I understand the trepidation in their faces on their wedding day. Your leaving your mum and dad, your going to have to share your bed with a boy instead of your sisters, it’s a huge day full of emotions. My daddy (a coalminer) paid for three weddings in the space of 2 years for me and my sisters. This doesn’t seem to happen much anymore. The couples nowadays pay for their own weddings but I love the traditional way of these weddings and they always make me cry, I just love a good wedding. I have been married nearly 40 years and I love my husband even more and he’s still that young man I married every time I look at him. I wish this young couple a good happy marriage.

Aha! I think that might be because TV has to show the most outrageous aspects or at the very least ones that entertain. Travellers who are born again Christians tend to be more conservative.
They sure are! Amd more than that, Sue, they are all lovely people inside too! There was not a harsh word said all day, but rather a lot of love shown between them instead. xx

Yes, but no younger than many brides and grooms. I seem to remember that the bride was in her early 20s, which is a good age in which to marry and to start a family, certainly from.a health point of view. The fashion to wait until your 30s to get married is not necessarily better, as many couples then encounter issues trying to conceive a healthy child. Emotional maturity is another matter, but having chosen her life partner, they will have time to grow and learn togdther. In fact it's not only travellers who marry younger than the current average, as both my nephew and his sister married their partners aged 22 and 19 respectively, and I also married and started my own family at 22.
Did you watch the whole video Jesse? The men and many of the other guests sat in the comfortable seats in the bar area. It wasn't a big wedding though..
I notice this a sandwich/finger food buffet style reception dinner. Very low key in nature. This is the type of reception meal you would find a Latter day Saint Wedding. Just doing a comparison
It's a small wedding, as not everyone can afford - or wants - huge wddding, but they still had the right to dress up nicely, didn't they? It's a wedding, after all.

Absolutely true! They are a very close family. Travellers have a wonderful community spirit too.

I had to laugh at that. Not everyone has the budget to have a sit down meal, so its more to do with available finances, than personal preferences.
