    Wow, the family are all dressed very different to the other videos of Irish travellers, they look great! The bride was stunning, not a huge meringue toilet roll cover, or led lights or moving butterflies! This wedding was very classy, the children looked so cute, no high heels for nine year olds, this wedding was on a very different level!

      I'm not sure the lady with the red dress split to her thigh looked very classy, nor the lady in the massive sparkly red affair, or the two young ladies in the thigh high elongated orange tubes, or the lass in the half-there strappy pink number, but it's true that the brides dress wasn't a massive meringue, and anyway, each to their own, and if it made them happy, jolly good luck to them.

    • @ReelLifePhotos
      @ReelLifePhotos  ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks @seasmacfarlane6418 . They just have their own style, which are almost always very flamboyant, so try to view them as their own, very unique and creative sense of style, rather than basing it on standard mass, fashion sense.

      You are probably right, but it was a wedding so it's possible the mother felt it was her best option to keep the peace during the wedding? It's up to the family concerned anyway so not really our business. On a personal level though, I never gave any of my kids a dummy, as breastfed them all, but as travellers generally choose to feed their babies with powdered milk in a bottle, they usually also initiate this habit from birth and its a tough one to break.

    This was a beautiful video, I’ve watched some were the dresses were so out of a cartoon to think of them as a wedding dress

    • @ReelLifePhotos
      @ReelLifePhotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Glad you enjoyed watching it Deloris. I think fashions change over time, don't they? I can't imagine anyone now wearing a wedding dress with puffed sleeves such as the one Princess Diana wore to marry Prince Charles in the 1980s, so similarly traveller wedding styles also change. Even at 'standard' weddings, some brides go for a very full and frilly skirt, like a merengue, whereas others prefer a more fitted skirt on their wedding dress. I don't honestly think that anyone sets out to be dressed like a cartoon, and although that's a clever description, cartoon artists most likely base their fantasy wedding dress designs on something they might have actually seen in reality, whether based on recent or historical fashion, so anything goes really! We are lucky that we live in an age in which we have so much freedom to dress in a style that reflects our own individual tastes and personality, don't you think?

      @ReelLifePhotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Serene3574 Well, at least you had one positive point to redeem the two negative ones. The bridesmaid's dress was quite typical of traveller wedding style for younger girls, so even though its not to your personal taste, its what they chose and its perfectly OK.

      @@Serene3574 Have you seen many traveller weddings Helen? They love these - as you call them - "girly" dresses. Every culture has their own style. I also cover many Pakistani weddings, with their highly coloured, sparkly outfits. Those not from that culture may not wish to wear the same styles, but it doesn't make them bad, so I feel its good to see clothes in the context of their environment, rather than judging them by our own individual preferences in clothes. .

    • @ReelLifePhotos
      @ReelLifePhotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I 100% agree with that Mary. It was SO disappointing to see hungry children turned away, but it was partly because venues can't deal with a sudden influx of 40 or more diners, unless they had pre-booked. But that is where they also struggle, as you know, when the venue finds out that they are travellers they often get turned down anyway, so as you say , its totally unfair to prejudge! xx

      Well done Lacy for studying, and getting a business degree! You have shown them the way to go, but its up to them now to follow! Its never to late to study and learn! My father got his degree at the age of 65 and I also got mine late at 47!

      Yeh Right , they do in my eye , the women are under strict instructions not to let the family down and the men sneak around with a 'what the eye don't see , the heart won't ache' policy . I really hope you never have the misfortune to be charmed by one of these hardy boyos.

      @@ReelLifePhotos Hi , no I am not one of them but I believe my grandmother was born into a clan of Mountain People who when forced off their tenant farmers had no choice but to live on the roads , the men worked the fields for rich farmers and women worked the kitchens of the big house , that is how my granny married into a farm and her people travelled on , it all started with cruelty and desperation and then they turned on themselves. I had to meet one of those rough boyos to understand my own heritage. It is very painful when the big dresses go back in the wardrobe.

      Many full length wedding dresses are difficult to walk in Nancy, particularly if they are slightly too long. After all, most of us live in jeans/trousers or shorts depending on our climate, don't we?

      Hi again. Nice you found this wedding too, English Madcow. Yes, it was a huge effort to hold it all together, but they were all lovely. They get a lot of traveller weddings at Barnsley Town Hall, so they knew what to expect and carried out the wedding ceremony with sympathy and understanding. You can't really blame a community for skills they lack, when they haven't had the opportunity to learn them. I guess that going to school regularly would be the first way a child learns to be quiet when their teacher or an adult is talking in a formal setting.

    Hard to believe they’re speaking English. They probably wouldn’t understand my American English either.

    • @ReelLifePhotos
      @ReelLifePhotos  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also tend to struggle to understand American English, so am not surprised that you can't understand their accents.
      My husband is from Cuba, and many people find it hard to follow his accent, and likewise he always found it hard to work out what my dad was saying, when he was alive. It takes a while to familiarise yourself with new sounds and sights, so keep listening and I'll do the same.

      @@ReelLifePhotos in my very long life, I’ve met several Cubans. Not that many because they’re smart enough to stay in the south of America where it’s warm. I have never met an unattractive Cuban. Now I’m not silly enough to believe there are no unattractive Cubans, I’ve just never met one.

    • @ReelLifePhotos

      @Helen Semrau Interesting! I've been to Cuba 7 times, but as I always look for interesting scenes, it's never really occurred to me to asses people as attractive or non attractive. I just look for visual interest as an artist and photographer, so an interesting composition, lighting, colours, or simply a great story.
