    Sharing my Yoga Nidra experience. This year I started to do yoga nidra almosy every day, 15-25 minutes after hearing about it on Hubberman lab. What Hubberman says about its affect on learning is ABSOLUTELY true to the point where I'd consider it the biggest life hack ive ever found. I studied and took my Fundementals of engineering exam this year, almost 5 years out of school. Most people take 3-4 months studying 2-3 hours a day. I approximated i needed about 300 hours to study for it. I started studying and studied just 2-3 hours each day and usually did Yoga Nidra after, mainly because I feel more awake afterwards. I started getting great scores on my practice exams a few weeks into it and decided Id sign up and give the full exam a chance. I took it, and passed on my first try after just 5 weeks of studying. Maybe 75 hours total. I was a C+ average student i college and I am straight up BAFFLED how i pulled that off. The only things i can think of are Yoga Nidra and actually managing my ADHD when studying.

      I feel you brother, I took FE exam 7yrs after school. I was educated and trained in Europe as a structural engineer where I spent 5yrs working in different countries, then landed the job across the ocean (Canada), decided to stay and get my P.Eng., weirdly enough the engineering association ordered me to pass the FE exam in the US... It was hard, especially since in Europe civil engineers don't study wastewater and traffic engineering (those are separate divisions from civil engineering) so I had to bring all those back to speed and also math etc. I was quite cocky at first and just went to take the exam after like 2 weeks of studying, I failed. Then I studied hard for 2-3hrs a day and about 6hrs on weekends for 3 months, weirdly enough I passed but I was a nervous wreck. I wish I knew about yoga, meditation and all the other practices.

What I eventually did was find my truth and understand the history of negative programming within. Told myself that being a crybaby was not in the book of Love. Learned that gratitude is reciprocal and that energy begets like energy. Once in practice of positive self talk for about a year I was back... the amygdala gets stuck but Love will break it free. Dont force anything.. sleep will come... Yoga Nidra was the icing on the cake. I still use Ally Boothroyds guided youtube meditations 3 times a week. My wife loves the videos... they work. Yes, Indian meditative practices are super helpful. It was what the yogis practiced in the olden days...They in fact, had no books to learn from...it was the collective practices that they engaged in and were mostly self learned..they tend to be so valuable... We Indians have disowned our own treasure of knowledge... but the younger Indians are going back to their roots...and recognising the wealth of knowledge that our ancestors possessed..and trying to bring it out into the open..

    I really liked that Andrew didn't changed Yoga Nidra to NSDR to demean the Yoga Culture but he did it so that people all over the world will do it without worrying about religions or any other thing and can take all the benefits from these divine ancient techniques cause in one video I saw a Christian priest was saying that "Yoga asanas & practices are a way to bowing down and offering obeciences to Hindu Gods and Goddesses so Christians shouldn't do it" 😂😂😂 I mean seriously. So I am very happy he did that 😊.

    Hypnosis and Yoga Nidra are not one in the same. I for one cannot be hypnotized, a lot of people actually cant be (but yoga Nidra works for me because its a deep form of meditation with an embodiment component.) Look up eyeroll suggestibility test for hypnosis, Huberman has also talked about this on other episode of his podcast. Yoga also has 8 limbs, which include the physical postures - asana, breathework- pranayama and meditation - Dhyana. Being the main tools used today to regulate our nervous systems. I have PTSD and yoga and its aspects have profoundly changed my life. Its also a spiritual practice and id say its more important honouring a 5000 year old spiritual practice by calling it its specific name and educating people on the topic, People of colour have had enough robbed from them...

    As for "hypnosis," people are continually hypnotized by advertising, news, culture, authorities. And they think conscious hypnosis controls them? Give me a break!!! And yoga nidra is guided but continually reminds the practitioner to simply be present.

    I am confused Dr Huberman has advocated adrenaline boost by cold bath ,caffeine etc immediately after concentrated focused learning to establish baseline memory and recall ability which seems contra to non sleep deep rest where one would seek to reduce a stressful adrenaline boost response through caffeine or cold bath .

    • @afroaesthete3701
      @afroaesthete3701 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      You increase alertness before intense focus, then sleep or NSDR after bouts of learning to consolidate what you learned.

    • @MrBoxelder
      @MrBoxelder 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The adrenaline boost should come directly after the focused learning. NSDR can be done any time of the day. He speaks of this (Cortisol and Adrenaline) in episode 18 I think. But of course caffeine before learning can help you focus better.
