We use a cat litter made from recycled newspaper which is great for composting although the idea of using my felines poop really doesn't go down well considering the smell. My question is would our compost worms be able to do light work on it.?

The worms actually play a very small component of the composting process. It's the microscopic organisms that do the bulk of the work.

    Mad cow disease? Prion?

Yes, Mad Cow disease is one of the Prion diseases, also known as transmissible spongiform encephalopathies (TSEs), a group of fatal, rare, progressive brain diseases that affect humans and animals.

@@GrowingABetterTomorrow Here in the UK, at least, Creutzfeldt-Jacob Disease (CJD, in humans) came about when some bright spark thought it would be a good idea to feed dead/dying sheep, including their brain (in sheep the disease is known as scrapie), who'd gone doolally to naturally vegan cows. Bovine spongiform encephalitis (BSE) took off and as far as I remember (apologies, I've just finished work, this was a LONG time ago and I'm working from memory) it was also present in the spinal area. As we know, big food is somewhat unscrupulous and they'll mash up every possible byproduct into anything they can get away with (burger anyone? if you eat meat - I do - please buy it from a reputable butcher). I'm not saying CJD never has any other source, and fortunately it affected only a relatively small number of people: what I'm trying to get across is that the 'epidemic' that spread panic at that time was man made by ignorant, greedy people trying to maximize profits. Interestingly, it was rarely seen in domestic pets (via pet food) because it was thought that it takes longer to manifest than their average lifespan. In any case, the gig got rumbled here and that's no longer allowed to happen, at least as far as us little people were told. I wouldn't compost cat faeces just in case there's a loophole (and there usually is when it comes to unadulterated greed), and tbh I'd probably use composted litter with pee in either non-root veg areas or around fruit trees. All that said... when all I came to say was thanks for posting a video on this because my local authority are complete twats about composting wood pellet litter so I'm looking to compost it myself!
