How to GET RID of fruit flies FAST - The Best Home Made Fruit Fly Trap

  • The best and easiest solution to get rid of fruit flies fast! This video shows you an easy and most effective way I’ve found to get rid of fruit flies. I use this trick myself and it works like a charm.
👉 Apple Cider Vinegar: amzn.to/3RAG2KH (Amazon)
    👉 Baking Soda: amzn.to/3DiWmeS (Amazon)
Ultimately, you’ll need to find the source (where they’re breeding) and destroy them there as well which I also show you in this video so make sure you watch the whole video.
I started noticing fruit flies in my bathroom and thought nothing of it, then days went by and there just seemed to be more and more. I’ve been making this homemade fruit fly trap for years whenever needed and it always does the trick and wanted to make this video to help anyone else with this issue.
I put the fruit fly trap in the bathroom and within the hour caught all the flies. Now of course more will come back unless you take care of the source. Fruit flies like anything sweet or whatever is fermenting. They also like moist locations such as the bathroom. So make sure all food and trash is gone and in my case they’re in my bathroom so you need to make sure you take care of anything that is moist like spills or wet towels. Fruit flies like to nest and breed in drains so I show you how to get rid of them for good so they don’t come back. Doing this trick will also get rid of and kill sewer flies if you ever run into that issue.
Let me know in the comments if this trap works for you

    • @DavidPaulMorgan

I'm pretty sure that the UV hi-voltage 'zappers' don't work. the light does not seem to attract the fruit-flies (it does affect the big house-flies!). plus, they are too small to be affected by the hi voltage - ie they can fly between. The traps are great, but as other people have said - clean-clean-clean and keep an eye on your fruit bowl. Ialso read that they don't like stevia 'sweetener' as it's toxic to them.

@@random41000 I've thought about that. It's probably what I'm gonna have to do. But I read it heard somewhere and I can't remember where, they actually live in your sink drains. To boil vinegar as hot as you can get it and put baking soda in the drain and then pour the scalding hot vinegar in the drain to kill them. Makes sense because they hang right around the sink

  • @MrDavidMoyer
    @MrDavidMoyer ปีที่แล้ว +1

If anyone is curious how the vinegar and baking soda works:
It doesn't make a "poison" that kills the flies. The product of the chemical reaction is carbon dioxide (ooooh, bubbles!), sodium acetate (a "harmless" organic salt), some carbonic acid (think "soda water") and water.
The killing is done by the HEAT from the boiling liquid. In theory you could just use boiling water instead, get similar results.
But having the chemical reaction creates bubbles, which splatters the boiling liquid ALL OVER the drain, making sure that everything in there gets burned to death.

  • @verda_renee

Thanks so much for this! I've been killing multiple house flies in my apt daily for the last couple weeks and I have no idea where they're coming from. I work from home and most days I don't leave the house, open any doors or windows yet flies keep appearing out of thin air. I've sprayed pesticides around every window and door frame even caulked some window sill cracks and nothing has worked. Feeling like they MUST be coming from the drain. why white vinegar and baking soda? Don't they neutralize each other out?

  • @gstrek1

I guess the flies we have around our house are smarter. They are definitely attracted to the bait but just crawl around the pencil sized holes and don’t actually go in. Feels like at this point I’m just attracting more flies but not getting rid of them. Hmmmm…flies must have seen these fly trap videos.

  • @savedbygrace2397

I was catching them in a cider vinegar trap, but they kept spawning more from somewhere, so I created a habitat for them by laying wet paper towels in a sink and put the apple cider trap in the center. Several days later when they were happy with that, I poured boiling water on it several times over two days, and now they're eradicated.

I have this problem in my house that I just moved into, they seem to be spawning from the kitchen, I was just going to ask if boiling water would work in combination with baking soda, I guess I have my answer, thanks in advance

    • @savedbygrace2397

@@tyleralm1078, they came back but I found a far better formula.
Pour 4 heaping tablespoons sugar into a plastic cup. Add apple cider vinegar until it's above the sugar, which dissolves. Lightly drizzle dish-washing liquid over it for a few seconds, using soap that has no added ingredients like perfumes or antibacterial agents.
The first hour I caught one, then about 4 hours later there was a dozen in the cup. I had no idea there were so many in the house. And it captures about another 10 every day.

  • @laragreene8328

Dang, boiling water might hurt your water pipes...Mine are just those hard plastic kind.I forgot what theyre called. Hot water would probably be ok,but not boiling.......BTW you can spray the bugs with windex...It makes them unable to fly...and kills some immediately.
