Thats a great build and really nice video production too. What I really appreciated was the simple and cheap materials. Please keep this in mind even after your channel grows, as Im sure it will. The bigger youtubers get all kinds of sponsorship and many times they forget that not everyone (not even them, afew years ago) can spend 200-300 euros in branded overpriced materials, just for one piece of terrain. If I was building this though, I would use xps foam for the whole mountain. The cost is not significant larger, the weight is only slightly heavier, but xps can be carved with a knife and textured with a few interesting rocks, into a very realistic rocky surface and can withstand gaming abuse. That would save the plaster face step and keep the whole construction possibly 30-40% lighter. The aluminum foil molds are cool, but there is a way to make a mold out of that much more interesting textured bark, without spending like 100 euros. You just need the simple transparent vinegar smelling silicone caulk from a hardware store (less than 5 euros), some corn starch and abit of acrylic color or even food coloring if you have it around. You just mix the ingredients in a plastic bag, in order to not make a mess, and you end up with a putty that can be pressed on the surface or object you want to copy. It will set in about 15-20 min depending on the amount of corn starch, and create a very durable silicone mold, where you can pour your plaster in.

I tried carving rocks out of xps and it never really looked right to me tbh as I tend to cut to much away. I guess I could use more practice with that :D Your suggestion with the silicone molds sounds interesting. Thanks for that! Gonna try that in the future.

What an incredible piece! I know I'd be blown away if this was laid down on my game table. I also love how accessible the build is, it didn't seem to require much specialized equipment aside from maybe a wire cutter for the foam work. Killer job on this one, and I'm already looking forward to whatever you make next!
Even the wire cutter is not necessary tbh. You could easily use a cutting knife and do the same as you don’t need the clean cuts. And even the 3D printed parts could be replaced by a bunch of cheap pencils glued together. Thank you very much for watching and your kind words!
I absolutely love all this. if I can ask though, what is it that you say you add to the mixture? Tile grout? I've heard you say it other videos but I couldn't figure out what that material is
Great video, I am enjoying your channel. I think with the large piece of cork you could make a cheap mold with silicone (just like the type you get in culking tubes) to have texture for your rocks that is a litte more interating than the aluminmum. Just a thought... gr8 build!
and another thing worth a try... wrap the aluminum foil around the face of the cork, this will give u a crude mold... youd need to put it into something like a sandbox to support it
Thanks for adding this! I thought about using cork bark or moles made of cork bark but they would have been a bit too chunky for gluing them to the eps. But I definitely agree that this would give the mountain an even more interesting texture.

Yes tile grout. It’s basically wall filler, normally used for real life tile work. You’ll find it at hardware stores powdered or already premixed.
