I love Eric in this. "Where does this show get off being this good? How dare they"-Eric I thought the same thing when I watched lol It had no right to be this good.
The fact that _Viktor_ of all people seemed impressed with Jinx’s engineering really shows how smart she actually is, and she’s had literally no formal training. If they for whatever reason found themselves on the same side it would not end well for the opposition 😬
That’s the sad part about the whole situation between Piltover and Zaun: imagine if kids like her and Ekko had a proper environment where they would get to study and had an easier access to the academy unlike Viktor or Sky imagine ALL THE GOOD that would be made. Piltover’s treatment of their undercity hurts everybody in the long run and they were happily ignoring it for two whole centuries.
The fact that Ekko barely has 15 minutes of actual screentime before his showdown with Jinx and yet has such an emotional impact in that fight is such a great example of how well they establish their characters.
I love the little touch with him being unable to poke himself in the eye. He's had Jinx do it for him for so long [Which is such a massive example of unspoken trust] that he isn't used to doing it anymore.
They one upped anime. They did a flash back without doing a flash back. Anime will take us 10 ep into the past just to give us the emotional weight we got in the couple of seconds it took to show us their past in Arcane.
The animated sequence between Jinx and Ekko is literal perfection. Not only the music and art style used, but also just the way they literally tell an entire story of the history between Ekko and Powder... They NEED to win awards for this show.
It's so great that they show the difference between the two characters, Ekko has learned from the past, has grown up. Whereas Jinx is trapped by the past, locked into it. His being a grown up allows him to beat her, but it also stops him from following through due to the realisation that she's still just a child. Also, Spoilers... ... ... he's the only one to take Jinx down in the entire show.
@@Cartographer1980 I agree for the most part but I also think he set her up (smartly) because playing the game would induce her to fight in the same way, to fall back to that pattern for the sake of the game, while (as you pointed out) Ekko had grown so much. If they immediately fought I highly doubt Jinx would've used the same pattern of the game
@@giuseppepiuma1965 From what I understand of the game, they are not only setting up the story, but Ekko's in-game abilities (you can look it up, but it could be a bit of a spoiler for s2). So I don't believe it has anything to do with Jinx not growing up because she cearly did (her bombs work now) and because she should be 100% unpredictable, especially compared to her Powder self. I actually believe Jinx was repeating the past on purpose because she gave up when her sister abandoned her again. I don't think she really was trying to win here and, in fact, tried to kill herself at the end with her grenade. The looks she gives really seem like somebody who is done and broken.
@@lovethepandainyou there's a lot to unpack here (not because your explanation isn't sound but because Jinx is a beautifully layered character) Be careful, everything I'm going to write is from my personal understanding, so if you call bs on something you could totally be right For Jinx being or not grown up - she's grown a lot in abilities (as you pointed out) and when she doesn't have attacks/visions she's way more confident and capable - part of her never grew up though, because she's partially stucked (mentally) at the moment of the trauma. Expecially noticeable in her behaviour towards Silco, on the physical aspect, she's touchy and huggy because part of her is still a child (then there's the dolls, crayons, toys etc) Now how does this all work in the Ekko fight? I think her stance changes quite a bit during this fight - initially she's full Jinx and wants to get rid of Ekko. She's also bitter for many reasons (he fought against her and Silco in the past, he's helping Vi and the "monster" enforcer now and more importantly he's another person that abandoned her from her pov). So she's ready to fight "the boy saviour!" (who helped many but not her, again this is from her pov). - Ekko changes the rule of the fight: he brings a silent proposal triggered by the watch: wanna play like we did back then? - she's surprised because she was ready for a full on bloody fight, so she smirks with a "ha", with a mixture of bitter feelings (remembering what they were for each other), competitiveness (she always beat him, so she's quite sure she can kick his ass as back in the day) and the excitement of the game. - this mixture of feelings and her partially child-like mind make her go full on board with the game itself: she plays as Powder, as a kid, same exact pattern with which she beat him all the time. She doesn't need to change, she's reliving the moment, playing by the same rules, and for a little moment they're both turned back to their child selves. - but the outcome is different, not only Ekko has grown a lot in ability, but he is fighting as much as he is playing, and he's fighting to win, to survive. While Jinx is still playing, giving him a perfect pattern he knows too well - the instant of realization, no more games, it's kill or get killed, it's dirty and bloody and the little kids are gone, until Ekko sees Powder again in the eyes of Jinx (quite literally too, you can notice she has grayer eyes more akin to Powder rather than the usual Jinx's blue) and he stops Big disclaimer: the grenade has many possible meanings imo, and I'm still trying to understand it fully, but if I don't completely agree with the "simple" suicide attempt, she definitely had no wish to survive in that scene. My take is that, after being abandoned (obviously from her pov) by Vi again, having been lied from Silco (which she now trusted the most), seeing the last person connected to her beat the shit out of her with such fury, as if she was a monster, led her to realize she indeed was a monster, hurt, hurting others, and alone. "Let's end it all", I think was the meaning of the grenade, not in a repenting suicidal way but in a last attempt of destruction to cleanse it all, the suffering the complex feelings, the world around them that kept hurting them. This was my analysis, hope something makes sense

Even Marcus, probably one of the least favorite characters in the show, has a damn amazing character writing. The keyword to his life is "Unfulfilling". He was a hot-headed newbie who wanted what he believed was justice but he never succeeded. He didn't like Greyson making deals with Vender and took a more aggressive approach, which pushed Vi and later Vendor to surrender themselves and broke the peace. He desperately wanted result as asked by the council so he took the bait from Silco, which backfired and killed the woman he admired. He tried to work with Silco the way Greyson did with Vender, only to find himself completely overpowered and became a pawn. He spared Vi's life, only to draw danger to his own daughter. Even at the end, he failed to give his last words to his daughter. His life has been unfulfilling and sad but we really feel for the character because of the good writing. Lastly, his facial expression of struggle when he was pointing his gun at Caitlyn was so well animated and doesn't get talked about enough.
I don't know how unpopular this opinion is, but... I like Marcus a lot because he's really complex as a character, and I like that he was more than a one-note lackey for Grayson. But as a person... yeah.
Marcus isn't evil, he's just too weak to make the right choices. He feels he can't sacrifice what he has and only gains more to lose as time progresses.
@@lolbuster01 True! I'm surprised a lot of people even wondered why Marcos didn't kill Vi. Like man he's not a children killing evil guy... He was just a hot-headed cop who got played by Silco.
Nah, I disagree. Marcus is definitely a bad guy. I don't know if "evil" is the right word, because "evil" implies a certain degree of cruelty, i.e. relishing in hurting people. But he's a corrupt cop whose actions lead to the death of the previous sheriff and of Vi and Jinx's entire family, who's under Silco's thumb and is letting him hurt people. He's letting evil people do evil things when he could stop them because he lets his weakness dominate him. Not saying I'm better than him, but he doesn't get the "tough choice" sympathy. He's wanted this position since the beginning, he knew what that would entail, or he should've known. He can be sympathetic and still be a bad person who makes the wrong choices for the wrong reason. You can argue nobody's bad at the core but that's another debate.
Jinx whistling the song she sang as a girl when she was first on that bridge is some great traumatic irony. This series definitely doesn't pull its punches💙
Eric is not the only one who questions why this was so good. A lot of people agreed that Arcane had no right to be so good, especially because of how horribly Sentinels of Light played out. Riot and Studio Fortiche really did amazing work with Arcane and I hope they continue to do so in the future
Characters drive the plot of this show, which is truly unusual these days. They make decisions and then things happen, as opposed to most shows which have events occur to which the characters react. It makes the characters so much more realistic.
I completely agree, man. The writing was so tight! It's a huge domino. If we go back to the 1st episode and change some character's choices (even the most minute detail, like Powder going for a sandwich, lol), everything changes, right up to what happened in the finale. The writing was so tight.
THIS. This is how to word what I love about the show so much. Books, tv shows, movies… they’re all so much better when character actions MEAN something. Cause and effect, but extreme emphasis on the cause. Thx for the layman’s terms of it
If he likes arcane imagine when they make cartoons for characters with deep lore. As a fan of league since the start of season 2. There are waaaaay more interesting characters.
17:53 I think the one thing that is even greater than all of that you mentioned is the facial expressions. I half expect then to say that every artist was required to have a full size mirror on their desk because I've never seen such realistic and well animated expressions ever in my life. I think its not only there to make the show look better but its the number 1 visual storytelling method they used. Jinx' half smile at the beginning of the fight. Her panic, into apology, into acceptance when Ekko has her pinned down. Ekko's realisation that Jinx is still in there, straight into regret for not saving her sooner.
which is remarkable considering theres almost no motion capture in the show. the animators only used a few videos of the voice actors to get a feel for the voice actors expressions.
To Aaron: The whole pulling champions out of their normal lives to fight in the League was actually the original lore. A council of stupid powerful mages known as Summoners would decide political conflicts, end costly wars, and so on by selecting champions from around the world and puppeting them in League battles. When you play the game you're actually playing a Summoner controlling a champion. They've since revamped the lore and the game really no longer has anything to do with the world they've created, so it's unlikely we see any direct references to gameplay. (aside from champion abilities)*
@@johnyshadow The lore we have now is the world of Runeterra. It's an entire universe actually focused on characters and world building. The game no longer has any meaning to the canonical stories of the champions. Think of it as like a smash bros arena.
@@johnyshadow Basically the same but removed from the summoners and council of war concept. You just play the characters as the characters, not some puppetmaster, who is a mangled metaphor for the player himself. I am pretty sure they wanted to make the world feel larger with this and have been preparing for more than half a decade now to release more content in the form of arcane, project L, Valorant, etc. So they changed it to runeterra being a large setting, their games and shows take place in. For that they had to remove the old lore, because the council of war was such central concentration of power, that it prevented any larger interesting events in the world to take place. Imagine the civil war breaking out in arcane and then some random mages just step in and solve it through a showmatch between piltover and zhaun.
@@morantNO1 I wouldnt be surprised if they revisit some form of the original concept, though. A shadowy council of power mages would make a good antagonist. In the lore, Arcane takes place about a decade before the Noxian invasion of Ionia, which is what kicks off the MOBA game. They still have the Noxus vs Ionia showmatch on youtube and the winning side got "their" item added to the game. Which is why you can buy the Ionian Boots of Lucidity
@@jak1165 A shadowy council of powerful mages is basically Noxus with Leblanc lol So, its not really an original concept, if future Seasons bring us to Noxus then we might see some of that.
The lore of League is incidental to the game now. The game is no longer considered canon within the setting of Runeterra, rather it's more like the game just uses characters from the setting Riot has created. It's more akin to Smash Brothers where it's just a load of characters fighting each other just because rather than something internally justified like it used to be back when we had the Institute of War and the League of Legends itself. Arcane is a story with no real association with the game because the game isn't really the 'main' canon entity. Used to be how Aaron describes. The 'League of Legends' were the characters you play, they were contracted/employed with/contained by the Institute of War and conjured into Summoner's Rift to do battles as a means of political arguments, since the Runewars almost destroyed the world and one more certainly would. The Institute of War acted as a mediator body to resolve conflicts in place of real combat using teams of champions from around the world. Then Riot reworked the lore in 2014 or so because they kind of wrote themselves into a corner trying to justify how this one organization had enough magical artifacts and powerful godlike beings to essentially control the world, the League of Legends, the Institute of War, Summoner's Rift and various other factors of the game are no longer canon to the broader lore of Runeterra.
Technically everything but the "contracted champions" is canon, and the series follow that canon almost perfectly. The scenario in which the game happens, the rift, is not canon, but the worldbuilding and character's backstories are all.
@@jorgealberto8544 No, this person is correct. The *game*, League of Legends, is not canon to the League of Legends world anymore. The characters and stories behind those characters are canon, but they are essentially put into a smash brothers-like beat-em-up without any care to their lore, which is fine.
@@Trockenmatt the moves in game and the keys attacks are influence with lore. For example, Annie the dark child R is Tibbers (a hella fat ass fire bear), etc.
fun fact you can see the wings of the firelight bombs on her desk when she was fixing herself up and she got thos from the progress day raid, very nice touches really sell this show and I love it.
I could never hate Jinx, I just felt too much sympathy lol (I understand why some people would tho, obviously the things she does is not good but I 100% understand her and that makes her a really compelling character)
She will always be my favorite character. She's a product of her environment. People compare her to Harley Quinn, but I feel Quinn made a choice to become what she is. Powder just was trying to survive through her trauma.
Same, she just constantly breaks my heart, lol, I honestly think, that if you don't feel any type of sympathy for her character, there's something wrong with you.
I usually think people who dislike or hate any characters of the show don’t understand fully the depth of those characters. I can’t hate any characters of the show. They mostly had good intention, good cause (Jinx, Vi, Mel’s mom, Jayce, Silco…) but ended up making wrong decisions, making mistakes and having consequences (like they literally had to pay for their actions), just like how we are in real life.
That Ekko versus Jinx scene is one of the best things I’ve seen in animation in years. The visual storytelling…it’s up there with that one Demon Slayer episode, just incredible 😭
the song is awesome, switching the art style, animation. this is like my fav scene of anything ever. At least recently i dont remmeber being that shocked and knowing how crazy a scene was right after i saw it. Usually it's like a week after u go "damn that scene was kinda great" there it was instant.
When Jinx shoots at Vi and Caitlyn, you should watch it frame by frame. Caitlyn actually moves her body and arm in front of vi (trying to take the bullets) while Vi being the fight or flight response pushes them both out of the way. Great symbolism of who they are to each other and as individuals.
@@JinxTheLooneyToon915 Absolutely. I went into it with no expectations since I knew next to nothing about League, and by the end, it was easily my favorite show of 2021. Everything about it is master class.
After you guys are at the end of the show, you should watch the Enemy music video they did for this show. It has unique animation mostly about Jinx and a little about Ekko too, and is just really well done about her character.
Beyond all of the characters being so slick, being written in a way that are easy to empathize with and each having pretty cool moments, each character is written to resonate with people for different reasons. I've talked with people who think Savika is the best character because they've been in that position where they wanted someone to believe in and kept getting burned following people who couldn't live up to what they want.
I don't think this show has one "meh" character with more than one line. Every single person who says anything feels alive, unique, thought out. I can wrap my head around the Idea that moba lore writers can deliver a story better then 99% of tv and movies screenwriters...
Regarding Ekko and Jinx's fight on the bridge: There are a lot of layers to that scene, all without a single word of dialogue. Starting where Ekko sighs and then smiles, producing his watch. He shows it to Jinx as a reminder of the the game they used to play. Jinx immediately recognizes what he's hinting at and changes her stance. This gives Ekko the advantage, because now she's playing by rules that he's familiar with. We then get a flashback scene to them playing the game as children, seeing how things would go: with Ekko losing as Powder shot him just beyond melee range. Then we rewind back to the present, Ekko's figured out what he needs to do. The fight plays out in real time. Ekko anticipates Jinx's shots and closes the distance getting the first hit in, knocking her to the ground, and putting her at his mercy. And then he hesitates. Throughout the episode he's been saying that Powder is gone, that Jinx can't be turned, but at that moment he sees his childhood friend again. The look that Powder gives him is pitiful yet also sorrowful at how the both of them could have ended up this way. When she pulls the pin on the grenade but doesn't struggle to get out of the blast area, you get a hint that she may not want to live. Not like this.
14:06 Eric: "where does this show get off of being this good?" Yes, Eric. The artstyle change for the jinx v echo fight was topnotch. So well done. Kinda reminded me of anime fight scenes, and I actually really appreciate the homage. Intentional or unintentional.
Regarding Eric's reaction to how Arcane is so good at making care about characters: The show is extremely good at setups and calling backs. It uses everything that was on display in previous episodes to build up your engagement with the characters by fleshing them out, no matter how small their role.
By the way, when looking at the mural. I believe the other pink haired chick is the girl Jinx confused for Vi and killed. Whoever she was she had to have meant something to Ekko, seeing as he had a bigger reaction than when any of the other Firelights died.
@@nutzor9594 There are two pink haired characters in the mural. The more prominent one is Vi, but the one off to the side is the girl that Jinx killed.
Can you guys like, watch a compilation of league cinematics after this? Jinx has a music video, Ekko has a cinematic (tho depending on what season 2 does there's a major character development spoiler), and there's a collection of scenes with 1 that has Vi & Cait in Zaun... there's like hours of cinematic content, and SOOOO much of it is great. Even alternate universe cosmedic skins for these characters get really good cinematics! I think you lot would really enjoy going on a binge of them, like 4 or 5 a video since most of them are 1-3 minutes long.
14:55 wish we could too but society doesn't facilitate that very well. Like here with Jinx we all are quick to label her crazy or mad but more so never think that poor damaged child who didn't get a chance to heal her trauma. Its not easy to feel that when she is a murderer but man I am impressed at the detail in her face when Ekko is punching her as if to say good bye as she pulls the pin on the grenade. I am really impressed by the way mental health issues are shown in this show. From Jinx's psychosis of Mylo and Clagger to the abandonment issues she shows honestly is so well done I cant believe Riot and Fortiche were able to pull it off with such class.
@Trashthlete Totally get what you mean, I was really generalising with my comment mostly for the world or Runeterra which arcane takes place in. I know mental health support has become better in the last 10 to 15 years in some regions more so then others.
Had a friend say he won't give sympathy for someone like her cuz she kills people and that doesn't excuse anything, then goes on to compare her to school shooters that have mental issues and says "should we forgive those people?' ........ Dude Thats different XD To our knowledge, jinx isn't going around killing mass groups of children/people (well besides the final scene lol, but even then that has weight to it) unprovoked. Only time we see her kill is while it's job related things as this is a world where fantasy and sci Fi weapons are a common place and people literally are trained for fighting. Unlike the real world where it's hella taboo for someone that young to own a firearm if they're mentally not capable. I swear he's always like this, tunnel vision with everything and not bothering to see the nuances that make them different. Kind of one of the reasons why I don't talk to them anymore as of recent (moreso a highschool best friend that I grew out of over the years as it's all just messages or once a year visit)
I witnessed my 74 year old father binge-watch the entire season today, and he doesn't even really like "cartoons". He only briefly fell asleep once - that's how good this show is!
I was really really hoping that they were going to love this show and I wasn’t sure they were super on board until the second act. Eric seems really into it and it makes my heart happy because this show is a masterpiece. Everything about it, the animation and art style, the music, the emotional depths of the characters, the social and political commentary - all wrapped up neatly within a fantasy show.
The music video for Enemy features a lot of new scenes that fleshes out the friendship between Ekko and Jinx as kids. They were more similar in age than the rest of Vi's gang, so they were closer to each other.
I just checked the full reaction and noticed a silly little thing, Eric mainly but also Calvin always smiled when Jinx or Silco showed up on screen LMAO Gosh, is so good to have a show with good villains, it makes all the difference for these types of struggle arcs.
Watching that Ekko v Jinx fight scene gave me the chills the first time I saw it, and it did it again watching it in this reaction. *It's so damn good!*
That moment where Ekko could have finished Jinx off, but couldn't make himself do it because he saw the girl he used to know for a brief second...such awesome visual storytelling.
League of legends lore is actually really damn good and quite large, and I hope it will all eventually come to screen like Arcane. However, the actual moba is not canon anymore, the only part of that is canon is the champions and some of the items. And even those have some differences from the MOBA itself. The lore of League is basically its own thing at this point.
Every episode makes the next one and the last one better, I don’t have a single doubt that arcane will do what game of thrones did for the fantasy genre, the story can only get better with even more interesting characters and new places just waiting to be brought in
Good stuff from Eric, think I'm in the same exactly wavelength about how to approach these characters lol I get where Aaron comes from with the "I hate Jinx" thing* - she is a villain who's fucking stuff up, making people's lives (all of them?) much harder. But I approached like Eric from the beginning, comparing it to Anakin/Vader makes sense lmao. The production of this show is just so... so good. I'm not exaggerating when I say it ruined some other stuff for me - being aware of how much resources riot poured into it and all, but still. *I'm aware that Aaron actually enjoys her arc, just commenting on the perspective.
My favorite episode by far, because of the last 20 minutes. The confrontation between Ekko and Jinx is just more proof of why animation is my favorite medium of entertainment; it was just perfection 🔥
Ekko's signature ability in League is actually manipulating time and this whole scene was pretty much reference to that and it makes this scene just pure awesomness!
At 07:38 on the right side of the Mural there's a person painting in the girl Jinx killed in Episode 4, on the flying ship. That's the kind of stuff that makes me love this show!
The Ekko vs Jinx fight makes me sad everytime man. They did they child play one last time. It's also awesome how they showed Ekko's whole thing from the game. He knew Jinx's moves in that game and she recreated them perfectly and Ekko used it against her perfectly. What I'm interested in is whether it was his plan from the beginning (luring her into the game as he must have known that memories and feelings are her weak points) or it was just spontaneous and it just happened to work. Yet still he couldn't finish the job. And the end when Powder (as I believe that she actually came back to senses for a moment) just blown them up. I don't think she even wanted to live anymore.
The relations between VI and Jinx was alot of speculating before arcane, we figured out they were sisters trough ingame voice lines to each other but what transpired was a complete blank
Facts. Best reaction group. I want these golden youtubers to exist not my retard generation. (No offense to mental illness people, im 16 and im respectfull to anyone.)
One thing not a lot of reactors and comments point out is how Silco doesn't lift an arm against Jinx. The 'camera' briefly focuses on his clenched fist when Jinx was stabbing him with the needle. Now, this could be interpreted as him being pinned down and helpless, but given what we all know now, having finished the show, I believe he was truly being patient with Jinx.
I play ekko, and my friend mains him and when we were watching this scene we were screaming, and he was literally tearing up haha, this scene was fucking LIT. also this scene is a reference as to how Ekko can go back in time with his ultimate ability in the game. This show is phenomenal. and i understand why eric is pissed, ITS NOT FAIR HOW GOOD THIS SHOW IS. ITS ILLEGAL AND THEY ARE GETTING AWAY WITH IT
such a great reaction, honestly love that eric is so into the world and art style. i do wonder if you guys ever did a easter eggs and heres every character thing.
The scene with Ekko v Jinx is just...chilling because it's like the truth behind how time can change people but it can't change how we viewed them originally...it's really hurtful to watch the sadness in both of their faces when he pins her down and is about to hit her because you see just how much they both lost when they lost each other...if that makes sense
About the Ekko vs. Jinx fight. The mechanic of Ekko character in the game is that he can come back a little in time. You can fight and then use his power to rewind time for you and then fight again. Since timetravel wasn't created in Arcane (at least yet) they did this amazing job of portraiting his power as going back in time in his memories, in the time when he and Jinx played as kinds and then predicting Jinx moves he wins the fight. It was such a good adaptation and also the song and visuals. Flawless.
That fight between Ekko and Jinx was my favorite parts of the episode man that was amazing Ekko did have a crush on Jinx when they were kids and him beating her up is so messed up
I know it's just a flashback from their childhood and Ekko used that to his advantage but it was also a good way to showcase what he is most known for in league without even having his signature device. It's so good!
Did not see Ekko as leader of the Firelights coming at all. Cool surprise. Good shit this show is so stellar in every way. 15:18- that jump cut to Eric pouting in the corner was epic 🤣🤣
This has probably been mentioned already but if not. Ekko has a voice line in game that goes something like “I used to have a crush, until she started talking to guns” which is why he hesitated when he could’ve taken her out, he seen Powder in there.
If you watch the official music video for "Enemy" it shows more of them as kids. Ekko had a crush on her as kids, and they played combat all the time in that arcade area.

Seriously if it's not nominated for an Emmy we should all "Riot".
@@lovethepandainyou there's a lot to unpack here (not because your explanation isn't sound but because Jinx is a beautifully layered character)
Be careful, everything I'm going to write is from my personal understanding, so if you call bs on something you could totally be right
For Jinx being or not grown up
- she's grown a lot in abilities (as you pointed out) and when she doesn't have attacks/visions she's way more confident and capable
- part of her never grew up though, because she's partially stucked (mentally) at the moment of the trauma. Expecially noticeable in her behaviour towards Silco, on the physical aspect, she's touchy and huggy because part of her is still a child (then there's the dolls, crayons, toys etc)
Now how does this all work in the Ekko fight?
I think her stance changes quite a bit during this fight
- initially she's full Jinx and wants to get rid of Ekko.
While Jinx is still playing, giving him a perfect pattern he knows too well
- the instant of realization, no more games, it's kill or get killed, it's dirty and bloody and the little kids are gone, until Ekko sees Powder again in the eyes of Jinx (quite literally too, you can notice she has grayer eyes more akin to Powder rather than the usual Jinx's blue) and he stops
Big disclaimer: the grenade has many possible meanings imo, and I'm still trying to understand it fully, but if I don't completely agree with the "simple" suicide attempt, she definitely had no wish to survive in that scene.

How terrible is it that I was looking forward to seeing Aaron's reaction to Jinx jabbing Silco over and over with the needle?
It's a little terrible but it's what makes blind wave special. Cause you know exactly why he hates it and that Calvin probably smiles for the same reason
It was literally the 1st thing I thought of when I saw the show. I went from uncomfortable watching it to laughing and wanting to see the reaction.
While watching that scene for the first time the only thing I could think was "I can't wait for Aaron to watch this part" hahaha

The last scene was Ecco remembering how they played the game as kids which led to him predicting where Jinx would shot. He didnt use his powers but its a nod to them.

Dramatic irony is when you know something the character doesn’t. 😉
Thx for the layman’s terms of it
If Eric thinks this is great, he's going to love the next 2 episodes.
If he likes arcane imagine when they make cartoons for characters with deep lore.

Best show I've ever seen.
Agreed!
@@josiahpeterson17 It's only superior is ATLA for me. And that is a huge compliment.
Best show of the decade
What's more hurting in the Ekko vs Jinx scene is, that Ekko had/has actually a crush on Powder/Jinx.
That´s the lore I remember. So what is now? (Does it just not matter anymore?)
Legends of Runeterra probably offer more of the deep dive they want rather than playing LoL.
You just dont know what u are talking about. You at least recognize what lore is?
@@jorgealberto8544 No, this person is correct. The *game*, League of Legends, is not canon to the League of Legends world anymore. The characters and stories behind those characters are canon, but they are essentially put into a smash brothers-like beat-em-up without any care to their lore, which is fine.
@@Trockenmatt the moves in game and the keys attacks are influence with lore. For example, Annie the dark child R is Tibbers (a hella fat ass fire bear), etc.

You can actually see on the far right that the firelights are painting the girl that Jinx killed during episode 4 that looked like Vi.
Good catch
I could never hate Jinx, I just felt too much sympathy lol (I understand why some people would tho, obviously the things she does is not good but I 100% understand her and that makes her a really compelling character)
I'm with you. I really like that Riot turned Jinx from run of the mill crazy to having depth and being sympathetic
She will always be my favorite character. She's a product of her environment. People compare her to Harley Quinn, but I feel Quinn made a choice to become what she is. Powder just was trying to survive through her trauma.
@@jatilq she's more the result of "one bad day" as Joker usually puts it rather than Harley, I agree

"You two need to kiss and get over it" I totally agree, Eric
When Jinx shoots at Vi and Caitlyn, you should watch it frame by frame. Caitlyn actually moves her body and arm in front of vi (trying to take the bullets) while Vi being the fight or flight response pushes them both out of the way. Great symbolism of who they are to each other and as individuals.

After you guys are at the end of the show, you should watch the Enemy music video they did for this show. It has unique animation mostly about Jinx and a little about Ekko too, and is just really well done about her character.
Yeah that music video hits different after watching the series, compared to before.
To this day, I'm shocked how my love for Echo crept up on me after one episode. I'm really hoping they give him more to do in future seasons
They will, he's a really popular champ.
By the way, when looking at the mural. I believe the other pink haired chick is the girl Jinx confused for Vi and killed. Whoever she was she had to have meant something to Ekko, seeing as he had a bigger reaction than when any of the other Firelights died.
Nah, that's Vi. They thought she was dead since she disappeared after the explosion at the cannery. Simple as.
@@nutzor9594 There are two pink haired characters in the mural. The more prominent one is Vi, but the one off to the side is the girl that Jinx killed.
You can tell it's a recent addition too because they're still spray painting her image on the mural.
Eric saying "Don't..." at 15:13 then the cut to him turned away in his chair got me. 😂
Had a friend say he won't give sympathy for someone like her cuz she kills people and that doesn't excuse anything, then goes on to compare her to school shooters that have mental issues and says "should we forgive those people?'
........
Dude
Thats different XD
To our knowledge, jinx isn't going around killing mass groups of children/people (well besides the final scene lol, but even then that has weight to it) unprovoked.

When it cut to Eric facing the wall, I lost it xD
Bravo for Ekko for this move with luring Jinx into the game. Smart.
I love that after they release the bad air in the chembaron meeting you can literally see it shimmering in the light.
"I had a crush, until you started talking to the gun" - Ekko :(
this might be my favorite episode from 2021 all together, so good.
One thing not a lot of reactors and comments point out is how Silco doesn't lift an arm against Jinx. The 'camera' briefly focuses on his clenched fist when Jinx was stabbing him with the needle. Now, this could be interpreted as him being pinned down and helpless, but given what we all know now, having finished the show, I believe he was truly being patient with Jinx.
ella purnell is just so brilliant in her voice acting as jinx.
I play ekko, and my friend mains him and when we were watching this scene we were screaming, and he was literally tearing up haha, this scene was fucking LIT. also this scene is a reference as to how Ekko can go back in time with his ultimate ability in the game. Its literally 2 years later so im sure someone has pointed it out, but jinx's mini gun is named Pow-Pow which was Vi's nickname for Powder
Its not even a show or cartoon. Its nothing but ART. So many times while i was watching this i questioned how can this be so good?
The scene with Ekko v Jinx is just...chilling because it's like the truth behind how time can change people but it can't change how we viewed them originally...it's really hurtful to watch the sadness in both of their faces when he pins her down and is about to hit her because you see just how much they both lost when they lost each other...if that makes sense
"I feel like it can only go down." You would be wrong. We have such sights to show you.
i just realised ive never seen the back on erics head until now and ive been watching these guys for years haha
The Lanes is absolutely called that because of the lanes in league. its mentioned in the behind the scenes documentary.
Flawless.
That fight between Ekko and Jinx was my favorite parts of the episode man that was amazing Ekko did have a crush on Jinx when they were kids and him beating her up is so messed up
People just can't believe that a studio actually made an artwork that's OG good.
This proves how hollywood has messed up big time.
The best thing about this show is that EVERY character has flaws yet you still root for them
With all the shows with bad writing that have been coming out lately, Arcane is still on top for me as the best show of 2021.
Bridge scene, art. Never getting over it.
Man, I can't wait for you guys to see the last episode!! It's going to effect you guys in so many ways.
They should totally watch the "Seconds" trailer for Ekko, I'm sure they would appreciate it.
That and the Enemy music video with Jinx.
The cut to Eric pouting in the corner killed me, too funny.
And I couldn't relate more to "this show has no right being this good"
Was waiting for this specific episode's reaction other than epsiode 3!!....🤘🏽🔥
LOL bringing a solid base to this and this art style was fresh and fantastic you can see the money gotten thrown at it
