      Dear sir:
      You have finally given a dictionary definition of what a *chip* is. A fry is one of those scraggly potato worms you get in a cardboard box.
      You could also, for that drink- add those tapioca pearls, add the chocolate ice cream, and have the ultimate Bounty drink: The Boba. *gets hat*

      Call it Food Focus, but don't limit yourself to only the single ingredient. Just show multiple different ways to cook it, as there are so many ways to cook a potato if you don't limit yourself. For example, my favorite is fondant potatoes - and yet at age 34, I didn't know they existed until last year!

      True, yeah.
      I'd be interested in perhaps seeing a series on making a full day worth of meals with just one main ingredient at it's core, such as potatoes or eggs.
      I'm sure there are other things that have similar versatility as well.

      For that matter, he could omelet that way. Rolled Japanese-style omelet for the starter, main would be stuffed with meat & cheese, and sweet could be stuffed with mincemeat or some such. And if you've never had a dessert omelet, it will change your life.

    For the desert, you could have unrolled the cinnamon rolls, laid one on the bottom of the dish, covered that with the custard and apples, then laid a second sheet of cinnamon rolls down.

    This is an easy and yummy way to make peach cobbler. It is great to make if you're looking to make a small treat without much leftover.
    Cook time: 40 Min
    Ingredients
    1 c sugar
    1 c self rising flour
    1 c milk
    1 stick butter (1/2 melted 1/2 cut up for top
    1 can(s) (28 oz) sliced peaches
    Directions
    1. mix flour, sugar and milk together until well blended. Set aside put melted butter in dish... pour the peaches and the juice in the pan. Pour flour, sugar, and milk mixture over the peaches, do not stir it ... cut up butter and put pieces on top of mixture.. bake at 350 for approx. 40 min

    Yes, do the single ingredient ideas!!! And what would be an equivalent for the custard, because that's not something we have in the US.
    And idk if it's different in the UK, but when perishable items are returned to the store, after they've left the store, they cannot be sold. I work at a grocery store in Delaware, and we have to throw away all perishable items (frozen, dairy, deli, meat, produce and bakery) items that are brought back after they've left the store. It's a health hazard and they are labeled "not for resale" before disposing.

    My late mother-in-law Peggy used to make the most amazing pudding that would be something you might like. It had Swiss roll on the bottom, cherry pie filling on top of that and custard on top of that. She warmed it in the oven, and then when it came out, she sprinkled it with crumbled flake before serving. I call it Mumma Edwards hot trifle. So yummy!!!

  • @feyfantome
    @feyfantome 2 ปีที่แล้ว +15

    I think I would layer the custard on top of the apples and leave the rolls intact, and place the slices on top sort of like an (American) cobbler to give them more surface space for the icing. We don’t have custard in containers here in the US, and I don’t think pudding would be nearly as good. I’m thinking perhaps we could use a sweetened yogurt with a whisked egg in it to emulate the custard, or just make custard and use leftovers for a second dessert

    • @FuckedUpGenius
      @FuckedUpGenius 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      You do have custard in containers, according to Google Walmart has a few variations to go with. Now, as a European, I believe there's a Walmart on every street corner, so I assume there's one near you 😂

    • @CarlGorn
      @CarlGorn 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You could do instant vanilla pudding made with half-n-half instead of milk. I'd think that would give it the richness similar to a true custard. Otherwise, there's the non-instant pudding you can turn into custard by tempering an egg with the warmed milk or, if you want to swing for the fences, half-n-half.

    I have a great one that I make regularly. It takes just a bit of technique tho. So the ingredients are just Yukon gold potatoes, chili crisp, and smoked or sweet paprika (I know you will love it)
    First cut the potatoes into decent sized chunks,maybe 8 per potato, and put them in water on the stove and bring to a boil.
    (it allows them to come up to temp with the water preventing the outside from being over cooked while the inside is still under) and cook until done.
    Then take those potatoes out and put in a bowl that you have a tight fitting lid for, add 1-2 tablespoons of the chili crisp (enough to coat the potatoes) and a tablespoon of the paprika.
    Then put the lid on and shake the potatoes vigorously to coat with the mixture, it will also rough up the outside texture of the potatoes and make them slightly “fluffy” on the outside.
    Lastly you just bake them at a high temp because they are already cooked, and you try to get a good crisp on them, the fluffy outer texture should help with that!
    I hope you like my simple recipe :)

    Have you ever scrambled an egg and just poured it in with the boiling water for ramen? I like to eat my ramen without the liquid, so I boil it in just salted water, and what I do is once the noodles are soft enough to separate, I slowly stir the noodles as I pour in an egg. I then strain it like normal, and add the seasoning packet. It is so good that way.

    I have a 4 ingredient chicken and dumplings that I like to make. Chicken broth (can, bullion, homemade, whatever), condensed cream of chicken soup (no added water), chicken (leftovers, can chicken, or freshly cooked), and for my dumplings I used premade packages of gnocchi (I get the cheap at the local dollar store). The gnocchi cook fast (three minutes or so) so add them at the very last. You could skip the chicken broth and just use cream of chicken soup if you want it to be just three ingredients.

    At least in the US, the McDonald's custard pies are sold around Christmas. It's just one of the seasonal things they tend to do (like strawberry creme pies around Valentine's Day, shamrock shakes at St. Patrick's Day, and pumpkin pies for halloween and Thanksgiving). And in the summer in the northeast they do lobster rolls some years (because we're known for lobster up here in New England).

    Well here in the United States grocery stores do not put returns back out on the shelf if it’s food it goes directly into the trash so I don’t take food items back to the store anymore

    I love watching your videos 🙂 you always make me laugh. Your an amazing cook and have the best ideas! For the potato video you could start with mashed potatoes patties fried then topped with all different kinds of potatoes. You could also get different colors of potatoes for an added touch. :)

      Potatoes are high in Phosphorus. Over consumption can lead to brittle bones... whereas moderate consumption actually helps.

      @@justanotherviewer4821 the amount of potatoes you would need to eat in order for what you said to be a risk, is so high that you wouldn't actually be able to eat that many. So, although you're technically correct, there's no way it would ever happen in the real world

    Barry, it's perfectly fine for a man to love tools that serve his craft well. If you're in the kitchen, that's going to include products from Pyrex, Oxo, and Rubbermaid.
    And yes, both Mounds and Bounty are candy bars made of sweet coconut covered in chocolate.
