    This video should be available in 4k soon, TH-cam takes ages processing videos...
    To the people that are gonna complain about me making another BDO video - There's literally no other interesting MMOs coming out that are worth covering atm, If I want to make a BDO video I will do so, you don't have to watch them.

      TheLazyPeon oh I didn't see this comment - I already suggested it but I was wondering if you've tried WAKFU or Conquer Online? I think they're great, was hoping you might share your opinion on them :) also I like your BDO videos bc I play it too

    For the #1 issue you stated, they can add a perfect party bonus, grinding with 5 players in your party can multiply your exp by 1.5x-2x one of my old school mmorpg i used to play did that.

    Thanks for making this video - it's good to have honest criticism rather than blind praise or hate.
    I have a few things to add:
    -Grinding somewhat efficiently requires four T3 pets, weight increases, and possibly marketplace maids. This is a lot of money, even as a one-time purchase.
    -Upgrading is just one of the many arbitrary hassles the game requires for efficiency. Grinding at pirates? You need four boats. Trading? Hope you like waiting for your channel swap. Running scrolls? There's no group finder, so spam chat for half an hour. There's so much necessary busywork involved in _playing_ the game.
    -I don't like that CC in PvP is also gear dependent due to the mechanics of frontal guard/super armor/all resist. Not only do under-geared players take more damage and deal less, but they're also more susceptible to CC and less able to inflict CC.
    -AP and DP scaling are poorly tuned, leading to the one-shots you showcased in your node war clips.
    -It seems to me that accuracy and evasion are just another set of arbitrary gear hurdles that do not add depth.
    -PvP outside of node wars is discouraged.
    Hope to see more content soon.

    Gameplay is interesting, world is big, quests are normally pretty straightforward. Haven't gotten to PvP yet but it looks like a spamfest competition and I've never enjoyed those.
    However I find the pearl shop pricing to be rather steep compared to other mmos. 30$ for one outfit that's only usable by one character is a bit much imo. And yeah, "you can get them with silver on the marketplace." Only issue with that is that somebody somewhere has to spend real money, then be crazy enough to sell it for a comparably tiny amount of silver.
    I see myself continuing to play BDO as the game itself is alright, I just don't ever see myself participating with their cash shop at its current values.

    I dont own a computer, I have a MacBook Air for school and work. I was once a big fan of WoW, but know that I only own a MacBook, I can't play computer games anymore, so I only watch this video to "act" that I still play, and to hear your amazing story teller voice! I have watched all of your videos, and I love your content, you once answered me back om my comment, about you learning me a lot of english! Thanks Craig, I think you are a really nice guy, and you remind me off me self, I would love to meet you in real life! I would be more Happy to meet you than any other TH-camr, because, I think you and I could get a close relationship. Have a nice day, greetings from Denmark - Jonas.

    I think the biggest issue i'm having while playing this game is that i can't directly trade with my friends. I mean i get it its to prevent gold selling and all that but why cant i like go to the forest and farm wood with ma friend and then give it to him or when i drop something he needs and i already have it why cant i just trade him that? it's supposed to be a very realistic MMO and i we're beeing realistic no one in real life could prevent me giving my friend a Dollar or smth. Also i feel like grouping up isnt rewarding at all like.....there are no dungeons and up untill lvl 55 it seems like you would need no help killing mobs and you also only get like 60% xp I don't know i love the game but it just feels like playing a single player game while able to see other players running around but theres a glass wall inbetween me and my friends......I love the game and if that would change it would be perfect for me it would be THE MMO. alas this is of course my opinion if you dont agree feel free to tell me so and why. Also I wish everyone a nice Day :)

      Society Inc. Realistic in terms of interaction with environment. You can buy and set interiors of your own house, cook, smith, do parkour, climb, sit on road walls, etc. It's an excellent game for role-playing, but it seems you cant trade with your own friend, which sucks. That's what he was talking about.

    You are so right, Peon. I'll be back in no time to the game when this pop-in problem is fixed. That's the biggest reason I don't like to play this game anymore. Especially in a open pvp game it's a no-go that other players pop up right next to your character when you travel. I want to see players far in the distance so I can decide what to do. E.g. running away, chasing him down, trying to ambush or anything else. The only option now is being like "wtf do I do?" when someone spawns next to you.

  • @aznwill12

    It's actually 70% in a two man group(NA had it improved over KR). There's also akkman. Kamasylve is adding a lot of group grinding. So you have that to look forward to. Pila Ku also has pretty good exp, better than pirates, but still less money.

    I love your videos because you actually provide solutions, instead of complaining like the other 98% of the community.

    I have 3 improvements I would like to add:
    1) Add several stun-breaks to the game. As it stands, there are way to many forms of hard cc with no active means of breaking or mitigating them. I could be mistaken in this, but it seems like the only way to prevent getting cc chained is to stack resistance with expensive gems and pray that the rng gods are kind. There is an argument to be made that each class has a dodge ability to avoid these cc chains, but I still feel that there is an imbalance between the two.
    2) Add an option to turn off double tap to dodge. With a game that puts such an emphasis on positioning, it seems quite strange that this option isn't already in. Personally this was an almost game breaking feature as I use a razer orbweaver for all of my pc games. The 8-way thumb-pad causes any transition from strafing/forward to diagonal motion count as a dodge.
    3) Remove or decrease the number of invuln frames that a mob gets when its pathing gets stuck. I know this is a common feature in mmo's, but it seems particularly extreme in black desert. One example is that if my horse or pet rock monster (from being a witch) is between a mob and myself, the mob will become invulnerable while attempting to run through my horse to me. This invuln period will often last long enough for the mob to get one or two attack animations off.

    100% agree with awakened relic shards!
    A few other things I'd like to see added in the future are1. Rare elite mobs that spawn less often then normal elites bUT drop better loot
    2. Mobs with unique abilities. I've once said to myself when fighting mobs in a grind spot for the first time "wow wasn't expecting him to do that" give me mobs that require me to actually think rather then just run around in a circle casting nukes
    3. World events other then collect these items that drop off mobs for a turn in. I want a army of ogres to attack heidel that us players have to fight off, if we fail we lose access to the town until we're able to retake it.

    I started last December and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Been playing daily ever since. Sometimes just a few minutes, other times I lose an entire day playing. I think you made some great points there. I play the game a little differently though. I don't grind for the purpose of levels or money. I kill stuff and explore areas for the pleasure of the combat and art. My personal biggest gripe is the RNG on upgrades. More so equipment getting damaged or worse when RNG fails. I'd be ok with them keeping the RNG for success but I've love to see them remove the penalty for failure. This is why I'm quite content running around with +5/+7 gear and I have no intention of ever partaking in PvP.

    After watching a video like this I came home from work - bought the game and started playing it. Here are the problems I see right away.
    1. Too much clutter on the screen.
    - The Tutorial stuff I understand
    - Then you have other text and chat going on that litter the screen.
    So basically you will be spending about 10 minutes just cleaning all of that crap up so you can actually see what is happening in the game and with your character.
    2. After cleaning up the clutter I was able to enjoy the game for about an hour and get to level 15 but the notification that pops up on your screen that basically tells you what an item has sold for on the market keeps showing up. Again and again and again. I googled 4 different websites to find out how to turn it off because apparently it is still broken. You are supposed to be able to check the Market notification under Game settings > game an check off any other things you don't want to see notifications of but even if you check off Market it doesn't take effect after hitting Apply and Confirm. After restarting the game and doing a /reloadUI then it finally stopped coming up, however... Not before I had this third problem.
    3. After trying to restart the game it would not launch. It would bring up the game window and then crash.
    Yep - had go to back to google couldn't find anything. I thought great that's 20 bucks well spent.
    I reboot the computer and it hangs for a long time at a black screen on launch but finally starts, I reload UI and finally the market stuff stops of course. Then I had the next problem.
    4. I'm Frolicking through the lush green grass exploring the game and then it just locks up. I get a spinning Windows 10 cursor ring and it just hangs. I have to CTLR ALT DEL and End Task. I'm going to relaunch it again and see what happens but so far
    Aside from the game play itself I am not happy with the stability.
    Okay update: i just relaunched the game and the fucking market notification came back. I'm done with it.

    I totally agree about the group XP. I'm working on getting to 56 and I got my first Sausan's main group, only to find that the XP per hour wasn't significantly different than solo grinding at Helm's.

    complaining about karma bombing sounds insane to me. its called competition. this was standard procedure back in my silkroad days. the guy killing mobs better gets the exp, until one guy decides he has enough of it. the fact that you can pk someone multiple time without huge drawback sounds like heaven to me lmao

  • @MindOfPsyche
    @MindOfPsyche 7 ปีที่แล้ว

    I recently bought the game and I'm mostly a pve player i don't like pvp that much and i was unaware of the fact the game was mostly pvp and lacked any sort of pve content. Most players keep saying life skills are pve but honestly there not there just a crafting system thats on a much more major scale and while i find this system very fun there is no real reason for me to even level up cause it lacks any sort of pve combat content. I've decided to treat the game as a side game and trying to get the most fun out of it , I just hope they add more interesting pve type content in the future.

      how to make bank lul, I've set up a node path today and it's pretty large, I also have 2 workers doing work and I afk fish during the night. I just don't seem to get the point of having these workers if what they get me is really of no use, and I really enjoy the trading and like to afk while going between different towns. just not making enough it seems, and afk fishing is decent, do I just have to grind it out till I can start making more?

    • @MeatSauceLova
      @MeatSauceLova 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      If you think that the workers are of no use, then it's quite possible you still have no idea of what you're doing. That's entirely why you're not making enough silver. It's best for you to start learning more about the workers and what they're capable of.

    About the mentor system, i like your idea. But i feel that having a more longterm thing would be more beneficial. You get to know your mentor and they show you the ropes of everything crucial until a certain fame or level is reached. It would (of course) be optional on both sides. It would just be a great way foor people to make a relationship with fellow players and always have someone there for them

  • @AmberRamVT
    @AmberRamVT 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    It's a well put together video, and as always I enjoy your voice and the recommendations you are making to the BDO team are fairly reasonable from my point of view, I suppose I'm just kindof getting burnt out on Black Desert videos, and I imagine a few of your fans feel the same way.
    If you enjoy making them its fair enough for you to keep making them, I'd just like to warn against making too many of them, as I can probably imagine most of your fans came to you for your general viewpoints on a wider variety of games.
    It doesn't have to be mmo's, though I'm sure you're more interested in them than most others. There are plenty of games coming out that are receiving quite a buzz that you could cover *cough Zelda *cough.
    Anyway, I still liked the video and I look forward to more videos in the future! c:

    I find it funny how people can criticise this game on simple things that are highly based on opinion or just straight up wrong. Bring up cons that they've probably never experienced or cared about but suddenly after having a bad experience with the game or getting bored of it, it immediately becomes some big thing to them.
    I agree with everything you said in this video. It's an amazing game and it has a lot of growing to do. But right now it probably has the most potential out of any MMO.

    100% agree with all of the things you brought up that need changing, and I really hope that they will do some of them because currently I don't even feel like grinding up to 60 is worth the struggle of fighting geared level 60+ people in sausans or pirates

    Completely agree with the Karma changes. I'm this close to giving up on my main character because it's near impossible to get back to neutral or positive Karma while keeping my grinding spot for money. I'm fine with being punished for Pking, but the time it takes to recover your karma is ridiculous. In the end Karma bomb kids always win

    I agree with you on every point except for your point on enhancing gear. Your suggestion is also too complicated and doesn't really solve the problem with enhancing. Get rid of the RNG entirely. Instead, give players a clear path to upgrading. Give us something closer to what FFXIV does for example. Create some dungeons, raids, or other means by which we obtain some sort of currency. It doesn't have to be easy to get. Make it time consuming too but once we get one, we can use it to upgrade any single piece of gear. Make it something we can only do once a week even. The process to get any single piece of gear from +15 to TET would still take 5 weeks and since the entire point of their RNG system is to get people to stick around (well that and spend money). You could even make it so that these upgrade severely damage your gear and force you to use memory fragments to fix (or something you could sell in the cash shop to bring in some money). You still get what you want and you don't have to frustrate people with randomness.

    I dont even play Black Desert. I am glad you found a game you can enjoy so much that you invest hours and hours into it. Well thats what I am looking for too and when you have found it and play those hours, you want it to be perfect!.
    Hope the developer team sees this and listens, cause all the suggestions you made sound reasonable and good.
    And thats what this comment is about, if you have a game you die for, make videos like this to even get it to a higher level.

    New player who has enjoyed BDO for past 2 weeks--but I just learned about the need and cost to obtain 4 high tier pets. It's one thing to spend $40, but we're talking hundreds of dollars and playing RNG casino--or be at a severe disadvantage. I'm quite surprised this wasn't discussed in your video. Both my friend and I are considering leaving because of it.

    1. They really have made grouping viable, 2. YES, YES YES, as we know fix the karma 3. Yes, relic scrolls are dumb, they need to make it so you can cancel the animations from summons 4. No comment on mentor system...I think a GM guild members can join for their first month that can't be decced on would be good. 5. Yes...wtf do games feel like bringing the server together is fun? Tera Nexus, RF online chip war, BDO zerg a boss...even if it ran well its just not fun 6. Vet awards...I agree to a point, but sometimes they are great..so...anything free is good...but yea...7. Marketplace...hmm...idk, I think its pretty good...I'll say at this point...with cash shop items, etc...just go ahead and open up trading, that'll free up the market place a lot. 8. Yes...they add in new content and they all suck...you can make more money at sausans and pirates than any place else. Xp yeap...pirates all the way. However...akman is good at really high ap 9. Enhancing gear...tbh..I like this, I like all of it as it makes you really feel like you have accomplished something...maybe bring back valks crys from KR. 10. Yeap...the siege system sucks...its just not fun....all the switching back and forth guilds do to do both nodes and castles as well...

    I think it would be cool if you could enhance relic scrolls with armor or weapon stones, making the scroll harder and increasing the loot. imagine a +10 relic scroll or +20 being absolutely crazy

  • @onlydrdj

    Very very well thought out comments and ideas. Of all of them I think the grind spots for high level players can be most easily fixed and lead to the most player satisfaction. Guess why people are "sick of grinding," it's because there is basically one or 2 spots to go to be effective with your time or stay competitive and that is boring Pila Jail (or whatever it's called) is a great spot, but with under 200 AP i'm kind of wasting my time there - even if it's more fun. The whole mediah is almost ignored IMO because of the xp/loot those mobs give out unless you are over lvl 60.

    Unfortunately, unreasonable and unbalanced RNG seems to be a strong theme in most online games these days. I don't understand the fascination with failing to give the same rewards to players for completing the same tasks. Having loot tables and chances to drop items is fine, but core game elements need to have some consistency in order to prevent a tiered system where the only difference between top players is something over which they have zero control. I would much rather spend an extra two weeks to a month grinding for silver and materials than bang my head against an enhancement that comes with little to no sense of accomplishment.
    As for BDO changes, I'd like to see the enhancement system move away from RNG and towards grinding. For example, you would still build fail stacks, but the fail stack cap for each upgrade would be a 100% upgrade. However, the upgrade costs would be significantly increased (multiple Concentrated Black Stones and even additional crafting materials). Either that, or do away with the downgrade on failing, which also makes the enhancement process feel unrewarding. Nobody enjoys watching their TET drop to a TRI, and a game mechanic that doesn't contribute to the quality of the game doesn't belong in the game at all.
    *TL;DR:* Players should be rewarded for effort and skill, not luck or chance. A game with a core design that does not reward hard work isn't showing that it cares for its players. Or maybe I'm wrong, and most of the gaming community have become gambling addicts that love being rewarded for doing the same thing as everyone that failed.

    You do realize that they force players to buy the cheapest item in the market to prevent in-game silver exchanges. For example, if say that the marketplace does not force a player to buy the cheapest item, it can allow me to distribute 10 Million silvers to another player by selling a Grunil armor for that much. In other words, BDO's marketplace is smart enough to counter in-game silver exchanges to prevent a fluctuation in the economic system.

    • @MrKryptox
      @MrKryptox 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I think you're mistaking something. There's still a max & min price for items, that's not gonna change. He just wants to be able to buy other items within that range other than the cheapest one. You still can't put your own prices for items.

      They should first "remove" all these unskilled and boring massive, massacre PvP modes and add something like a 1v1 arena with a pvp rank list (Accessible with 56+ or something), where gear and life/buff potions have no impact before it can be more competitive. Than it would finally counts on your skill how much you mastered your class and can combine skills and perform huge skilled skill-combo chains without to fail (and tadaa, grabs are also finally more a thing, especially for classes like ninja's etc. and for overall to be able to counter a combo from the enemy) Best example for this is the outdated game C9.. best and most fun concept for a dynamic combat pvp

    Personally I enjoy being able to have the option to do everything in an MMO solo. Like in SWTOR, I can do almost any group content in solo mode. After going from guild to guild, spending 15mins looking for a group etc, I've found that I don't like being forced to group up for things. Just IMO

    As far as pop-in is concerned, I think that is an issue that will not be addressed any time soon. The problem MAY stem from inconsistent LODs and LOD ranges on various assets. For example, Rock_Granite_1 may have 2 LODs, the first of which is visible at 100m. Tree_Ash_1 may have 3 LODs, the first of which becomes visible at 150m. Maybe LOD1 is max detail, and only LOD1 includes a shadow map or allows ray tracing shadows. Either way, it all points to an inconsistent asset development process. It is fixable; but, it would require a lot of work.

    Apparently there is another issue where your mouse will fail to turn left as quickly as it does pan to the right. I can't get it to work properly. I have reset all settings in input settings to attempt to fix this and it did nothing and then I had to re-check all of the notifications to hide them once again for the fourth time. I couldn't get into BDO, I personally wasn't a fan of the combat, simply because of how blindingly flashy it is. Lack of structured PvE outside of summonable bosses also killed my interest in the game. The world was fantastic, but it just felt tedious for me, for the most part, only being able to grind mobs for PvE. Just my 2 cents as a PvE main player.

    The game need like you said better optimization this game is so amazing but when people who have great PCs that can run any other game fine struggle with this one we all know were the problem is. Another thing is the pvp some people want to pvp and just grinding day in and day out to get stuff doesn't cut it. They should think about making their 1 bg be playable and not require any sort of gear as well as add in arenas so that people can feel their getting somewhere not just grinding away. The best thing you said Lazypeon was more areas to grind for higher lvls. Like come on they released a massive world and yet most ppl stay at sausens or pirates. We need more areas so we don't get bothered by the same 2 areas to go too level up. They really need to have more areas to go too and make grouping up worth it so you don't get a guy with 250ap and 300DP just soling something because it is better for him and not like he wants to pvp he just there causing person trying to grind and get to 60 or needs money we need more areas more benefits to being in party and if they could make gear system better and not how it is their player base would skyrocket more than what they have. The biggest problem the game has is people play game and feel like it is a chore and not a game to some they don't mind it but to most they do. They can not just think cause Koreans liking this mean everyone will they have to adapt to have their game grow. A lot of stuff blocking game from growing to something better and although I play the game because tbh one of the better mmos that isn't the same thing after 20 years. I still think their is a lot of improvement much like what you said!

  • @Tragedyval
    @Tragedyval 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I think the reason why some people are salty about BDO is that BDO has step up the MMO genre, and all the new mmo that comes out in the future will now be compared to BDO combat system. and imo that is a bad thing to the mmo genre as a whole. And those people that don't like the game knows that at its core BDO doesn't have that much depth compared to many other mmos out there in terms of combat and character building.
    but its the only UP to date mmo that is currently popular

    Gear and lvl boost in pvp or some sort of balance into it. Gaining one extra level or just few AP more and you are so OP in pvp. This is just little bit annoying because grinding from 56 to 60 takes quite long time.

    I used to think the same with "karma bombing" but it's really the only defense that the low geared guys have. I don't think it would be great way to get more players if they were all the time pointed out of the grinding spots like crapbags. It doesn't feel great when you're thinking about them since there isn't anything great awaiting for you either at the end-end-end game where you have everything PEN compared to what you have now.
    Also you mentioned that you got TET boss armor and you weren't even happy about it... wtf. :D Im always happy when I get boss armors to TET.
    There really isn't an end game in BDO, so make friends and boost the "bombers" rather than argue with them. Try to enjoy the TET boss gears and even PEN ones in future since they are the only "end game" you're going to get where you progress. Otherwise Im not entirely sure what keeps you playing this game.

One of the main things i dont like is not grinding ... i like grinding since my first days in L2 a long long times before, but fighting onl ygroups of mobs like superhero. I like lotrolike combat or EQ2, more classic 1V1 fights with elites that needs to be grouped or geared so good. But still, it is respectively playable mmo for me. This weekend i will try revelation online. I havent played something new for a long time :)

    The part about letting siege guilds go to other regions when they own a castle was a thing in the past, it resulted in guilds like Harmony owning ALL regions and pvp was utter crap in sieges and it allowed thier members to get massively overgeared as they were getting 150+ million payouts per week which at the time was quite alot of silver. NA has thought of a good solution for this, when they get a castle, they all leave the guild, join an alt guild or merc for another guild and do nodewars.

    • @TheLazyPeon
      @TheLazyPeon  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I'm aware of this, hence why I said when the guild goes for another region they automatically give up the castle they already own
