Hi, What gives a better sound, 2 play 5 alone or 2 x play 1 and a sub. Im not concerned about how loud it is but more the quality of the sound. Its only in a 6m x 6m room. Thanks
Thanks, that is exactly what I was expecting to happen. Just purchased the five for small home office / bedroom and thinking that a single five with the sub would be a good combo to add clarity to the midrange of the five and better than adding a second five.
Can I have 2 IKEA symfonisk lamp speakers as rears and one Sonos beam as just center and then whatever I chose as fronts working all together as a full "true" 5.1 surround sound? And the sub ofc
Thank you for this comparison, I run the SUB since I started with Sonos as it came with my PlayBar. Later I add 2 Play:5's and now combined with 2 Play One's. I think the Sub add's a much deeper sound to my PS4 pro. Streaming music by using Roon the high and middle are more subtile with the Sub on. Actually it's never been turned off, it's the 1st time I turned it off to hear the difference :-). Gwenndolynn

That constant auto-focus of the camera is very irritating. I have a Playbase + SUB + 2 Play5 as surround speakers. It's an overkill but the sound is amazing.

I wonder for the same price if a pair/combination of SVS ultra towers, ultra bookshelves, or Wharfedale Evo 4.2, and a SVS PB2000 or Rel HT1205 would compare in sound to this setup because I'm trying to decide on either Sonos just like what he showed in this video + the ARC later down the road, or the combination I mentioned...and input and suggestions would be greatly appreciated. (By the way I have a shitty A/V receiver that I would have to upgrade next year.)
You cannot via optical; however, the Play:5s have a 3.5mm analog stereo input. So, if your tv has an analog out (RCA or 3.5mm) you can wire TV audio directly. I actually Airplay the tv audio from my AppleTV to my Play:5s so there aren’t even any wires involved.

This doesn't make sense at all, you can't compare a system like this trough a recording. Especially with a low quality microphone you can't here any difference at all. But you should have more depth with the subs. High end full range speakers should be fine without a sub, but it can still add something extra.
No sub is required when you have 2 play 5’s. I’ve just tried this setup and there is very little improvement in bass if any. Luckily I purchased my sub from Sonos so getting returned ASAP.
I have a sub together with two Play:5. I think the sub covers a different range in bass, if that makes sense. It greatly adds to the enjoyment, but it isn’t necessary.
I can hear it IMMEDIATELY if I forgot to turn the power switch on for my Sonos Sub. I think it adds a lot to the sound. I also have 2 play 5 and a sub.
Nice video, don’t get discouraged by critical comments. It is hard to make these videos. However, a better mic might really be a good investment. Anyway, thanks for this.

Sonos Connect has only a optical output,...and 1 analog input,...only the Sonos Playbar has a optical input.

Do they work in stereo even if putted orizontally? ( I would do a wall mount and save space if in that position )
