The red tail were markings markings that distingueshed the Tuskegee Airmen which were the first African-American military aviators in the United States Armed Forces. During World War II, black Americans in many U.S. states were still subject to the Jim Crow laws and the American military was racially segregated, as was much of the federal government. The Tuskegee Airmen were subjected to discrimination, both within and outside the army.
This video is about the kit opponent of my recent animation of the Hobby Boss version were I had to add a lot of after market parts to get a good result. This Royal class kit from Eduard is so perfect detailed that assembling out of box has been better than the other kit with all the additional parts. I hope you'll like it...
I achieved the bare metal look with - for me - a new type of acrylic colors: KColors from custom paint industries.
Other colors: Alclad Mil-Specs, Alclad II metallics, Alclad Aqua Gloss

Inspired by this video I went out and bought an Eduard P51 kit. Got it home, unpacked it....... nothing.....sprues didn't move....it didn't assemble itself, or paint itself. I'm very disappointed. Think I may have to do it myself !

Anytime the word perfection comes to mind. I have to think about your skills as a model builder, and your talents in stop motion. Just a Master.. Complete Master.
Love your style, it seems to me you adopt a more " less is more " philosophy ? Some modellers go way over the top with weathering and pre shading etc, they strive for realism but end up making their kits look cartoon like.
I saw a comment from a guy who was an aircraft handler on a carrier, commenting on a model of an F18, he said there was no way the planes get that dirty and battered.

What a beautiful kit.
The panel line darkening gives a lot of how the plane was put together. You can see a lot of 1930 and 1940 industrial design elements. beautiful build. Liked the stop action. Thank you.

Excellent Video and what looks to be a really worthwhile kit for the shelf. I built the "This Is It!" 1/24th Airfix P-51D wayback, and for those of you who remember the two alternative paint schemes the alternative was red-based. 1/24th still being the cost it is, how can you lose? Just discovered your vids. They're absolutely brilliant. Both the builds and the production. So much more entertaining than most other 'model build' channels. I was wondering about the fuselage art work of a naked white girl, on a plane flown by an African American pilot. Would have been controversial at the time I'd imagine. I always wondered why there is such a cable between the tail and the cockpit. Is that some kind of antenna?
Navigation
Yes, it's antenna. For example simple dipol used by radio amateurs in shortwaves are two long wires attached to trees, building and other things.
It is a radio antenna wire. Allows communication between fighters and back to home base.
