Yeah, story currently needs to catch up with the future/present side namely because of another part of the Volume 5 cliffhanger: Shun maxing Taboo. With every volume it seems that we're learning a bit more about what exactly that information entails, so it's likely being done to prevent having a big infodump in the middle of a big battle which is understandable.
If you want to remember some prior events of past volumes or get re attached to the characters who had little screen time then I recommend either re reading the past volumes or looking uo their summaries in the wiki.
Definitely, I’ll be re reading them all at some point but I do enjoy how the author makes sure to recap on events that are important through White’s and others narration :)
If you're wondering where we are in the timeline right now you can always look at the official timeline in volume 4. The events of this volume happen one year after Sariella and Ohts go to war which was year 842. The first event of the human-story in volume 1, Shun's appraisal (at age 6) ceremony took place in year 847. He enters the royal academy in year 851. And the Human-Demon war, in which Julius dies takes place in year 856. That means that we still have at least 4 years to go until we see the events from the spider perspective. Also, Sophia is around 2 years old when she was doing day-long marches in the desert.
@@NorthernSoulReaper I read al the volumes available in english and it isn't until volume 11 where we see an event from volume 1. But then again, volume 11 is somewhat special in the entire series.
I try not to give too muchh away in the reviews because while we're 7 volumes in some may still not want to have things spoiled for them. In future I may look at more in depth discussion videos. Thanks for watching!
