We were so poor back then, and so proud. We didn't have much to eat. But we had the Flathead River, our poles from childhood, my father's roots, and a craving for self sufficiency. I remember Q and I going to the river every evening and every morning to catch our sustenance with a dry fly. Cutthroat trout helped us make it through until we got jobs that could afford us more than what we caught to eat! The thrill of the bite is literal for me!
My brother and I have been blessed to witness this same thing here in California except the brownies getting airborne after the damselflies were only 12-16 inches, maybe 18 at the most
