  • My great sounding Hammmond E-112 and Leslie 122. It sounds pretty amazing. Great for gospel, rock and Jazz. The e-112 is a tonewheel, tube, foldback Hammond. With full drawbars, full keyboards and basses. We got rid of the built in keyclick filter. That made the organ shine. Wow. We replaced lots of caps and tubes. It has percussion. One of them sounds very nice like a B3. With a modification you can create all percussion that a B3 has if you would want that. It has chorus which sounds very nice.
    All in all, combined with the Leslie 122 it sounds as good as a Hammondorgan gets. I'm happy with it. So much for the totally underrated E-100 series. It's a great organ with the big console sound. Not at all like the spinet organs etc.

    Great playing and great sound. I have never heard an E series sound quite this strong. Most people don't know what a Hammond is until they hear it and find out what beauty they have been missing. Thanks for posting.

    I have this exact same organ sitting in my living room. I just found a Leslie 125 on Craigslist for $400 which is a bit more than I paid for the organ itself. The organ sounds and looks amazing. Can’t wait to get the Leslie connected so that I can have a sound like this one.

    I just obtained an E100 that a guy was about to dump. I oiled it, but it still squeals like mad. it's gonna take a lot of work finding the suspect bearing(s) and getting them lubed, as well as clean out all the dust in the endless nooks and crannies. Glad you posted this video though, as I look forward to how good it will eventually sound!

    Man, great playing! Beautiful sounding E-112. I have a '66 E-111 I got kinda for free (I paid someone $100 to help me move it) a few years ago. Already did the click filter bypass which really woke it up. Now I need to free up the vibrato scanner and get a Leslie connector kit (and then maybe learn how to play it).

    You certainly do credit to the H112 Eric.. I think the thing people don't realize about your setup is that the H112 has its own huge compliment of speakers as well. Its almost like running with a pair of Leslies. When you have some room to separate the organ from the Leslie you can really see how they interact. The organ speakers really pick up the mid-range stuff. You definitely hear things coming from the organ speakers that you don't get from the Leslie. The story of our H112... We saw an advertisement in the newspaper for a Hammond organ, FREE, you just have to come and get it. Well, it turns out that this was a one owner H112 that had been brought up to Washington from California by the house movers. The lady never played it after she moved. So it was wrapped and sitting in her garage for the last 15 years! Of course it didn't work, but the finish was like new. Not a scratch on it. We decided to try to resurrect it... so we took it home and of course the tonewheels wouldn't even move. So we shipped it to an organ repair facility in Spokane, Wa. A couple of weeks later I picked it up. Sounded awesome. Now I needed to find a Leslie.... Found an advertisement over in Eastern Washington for a Hammond C2 with a Leslie 142 speaker. He wanted $800 for the pair. I didn't want the C2 but he said I had to take both. So, I bought them and dragged them home. The Leslie had to have some wiring changes to the amplifier to interface with the H112. But once we had that done, I rebuilt the amp and it works like new. It has two half moon switches on the front of the keyboard. The one on the left controls the tremolo speed, like yours... the other allows you to switch between using just the organ speakers, just the Leslie and the third position you get both the organ speakers and the Leslie. We seldom use it without both sets of speakers. This setup really has a "presence" with both speaker sets going, in a rather large room. Sound awesome! Glad we went to the trouble to save it from the land fill. I really fail to understand how people are missing the beauty of this configuration. I've heard my share of B3s and this setup sounds every bit as good.

    Thanks, one of few videos of an E-series playing jazz, so many play cinema music which makes the E sound terrible, you've got it playing like a B3/A100/C3

    Great demo sir. I have a chance to get a E-112 free for the taking away. Organ, bench and pedals all mint and not a scratch in a medium walnut cabinet tone. I believe it is a 1967 build. No Leslie, tabs are a little faded but everything works great as far as I can tell. I think that white knob you were turning is the percussion right? I see Leslie controls on 2 switches on the front of the unit, so I know I can hook up probably any model of Leslie. Like yours, this unit also has a "home speaker" in the front of the cabinet right over the pedals. Will cost me over $100 to have moved to my home but I think it is damn worth it!

    Suppose I can't get percussion or drawbars working ? I blew dust out from keyside to back with the back off....also contact cleaned the preamps and filth wiping down with coth...I then oiled it the old tube found inside could barely fill both cylinders but once. I'm thinking about taking the top off now and getting deoxit on the drawbars. One foot pedal is also out ? Any upkeep videos on this organ would be grateful.

      That's nice to hear. Thanks David. I'm sorry to say that I had to sell the organ. But man it sounded amazing after the work we did. I hope to be able to get one again someday. If I do I probably need some tubes and capacitors again🙂 Have a great day

    Beautiful organ playing!!! I have a 1968 Hammond
    E-112 running into a Leslie Rotosonic 700 with a preamp 11. What can I do to get that famous B-3 sounds on my E-112? TIA

    I have an E-182, its not in the greatest shape though. lots of static through the speakers. hum through the percussion circuit, little bit of noise in the reverb as well. upper register is rather weak as well. hopefully i will get a chance to fix it eventually. meanwhile I have a perfectly working l-143 in the meantime.

    Hi, I have a little question for you. Does the leslie 122 plugs directly into a E-112 or you need a connector kit?
    Thanks!

    If this will help anyone Hammond- Suzuki sells a interface called 6122 kit it allows you to hook 122 family or for techs 6h type leslies for spinet model Hammond that means Hammond with unbalanced signal internal speakers uses a/c power for motors once it was hard to connect 122s to spinet models but now its easy as having this Interface.

    Holy SH*T!!! that thing sounds amassing! I found a Hammond E-112 for sale for 20$ that I'm going to pick up tomorrow! I'm so pumped! I have a B and a Leslie but don't want to use it for gigs or spend thousands on Hammond XK Systems, or any other digital crap. It all comes down to the sound! and if I can do a few mods and clean her up to make it sound like that, I've already won!

      I happy for you ...You have to tell me how it sounds when you get it going! You know what? It fell through that day....ppppt!! They decided to keep it or sell it to someone else,I don't know? But something really cool came up that was meant to be, I ended up with a beautiful Hammond BV with a 147 Leslie. I already have a BV with a 760 leslie that sounds better than my old B3 did. I looked at the serial # and I'm surprised to find out it is 4 BV's older than the one I have...they are practically sister organs. LOL. I am going to rebuild the preamp and bring her to life again like her younger sister. It has a percussion kit too. I cant wait!!or complain

    i've played these in churches and they do not have the same sonic presence as the original tonewheel Hammonds; very shallow and mid frequency heavy. what it lacks in sweetness it more than makes up for in bass and full rich vibrato (better than even the 60's 3/A/D100 IMO). nice practice, entry level, or budget substitute.

    • @ericlagerstrom-music
      @ericlagerstrom-music  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      You played on one as modified here? Through an optimized Leslie 122? Sure there are better sounding B3/A100 etc, but many others don't sound as good like this one. The basic soundchain is really optimized in this one. Some essential changes that open up the sound. And off coarse only one set of drawbars. The bass/pedal sound is the real weakness in these E models. You can't modify them to sound ok.

    • @ThatsABiggon
      @ThatsABiggon 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Eric Lagerström I was speaking generally; E100s are not AS sweet sounding as any of the preceding console or A100 models. They do however sound very good and Hammond-Like. Yours sounds very nice.
