my parents dragged me to one of his concerts when i was about 8. back then i hated that i missed out on a night of my favourite tv show. i had no idea who i was lucky enough to go and see! by the end of the night i was enjoying myself so much that i cried when it was over!
My grandma used to be the cleaning lady at Brisbane university, for like over 20 years . Her nick name was Sadie. She was deaf so in those days the only work she could get was manual labour. She gave birth to 7 kid's and had a pretty hard time her whole life. This song just makes me weep for her. We all miss her. Her kids, their kids, and their kids. Those who never had the chance to play with her or get some of the best advice they could have received in their lives. Thanks Grandma for everything that you have given to all of us. We love you and still think about you.
I always had a dream that John would treat Sadie in a version somewhat like he did with Help. Not to9 serious, but taking the song a bit more seriously. It’s a great song. The lyrics are simple but brilliant.
When you do go to your favourite artist concert, play the person whole catalogue of music, so then your ready,if they slip in a sneaky one in there ,you can sing along, and you won't look like a fool. I did to farnhams all the time, yes including Sadie.👋💕🇦🇺
Have loved him since the 1st time I saw him singing Sadie on Bandstand. It is a tragedy that his golden voice may not be heard any more. I,m sure all who love him have been praying for him since his terrible illness.
You lucky aussies who got to go to John Farnham concerts in Australia . I'm in the UK, missed his earlier European touring all those years ago (seen clips, the voice as stunning as always but the concerts not the huge impact of the later ones) , so am now loving all the youtube video postings. 3.10.23. UK. E ❤
At the Birkenhead Tavern NZ, My Mum in Law won the Sadie, the cleaning lady 'knee's' competition from the guest artist of the night... John Farnham. Her son was too young to attend the evening ... but it didn't stop him from being Johnny Farnham's biggest fan
Actually he sings Sadie at every concert,he even sung the 1st few bars of it with tommy Emmanuel on hey hey 1 year, the hey hey it's Saturday episode is the darwin/Northern Territory one,it's where he's performing the Jesus's christ superstar concert. Watch it it's funny as all get. You won't be sorry.👋💕🇦🇺
The later rendition, more up tempo, is fun. It was a song of it's time, but John is timeless so it was lovely to hear it with a slightly different arrangementm 28.9.23. UK. E❤
True. You're the voice should definitely be Australia's official national anthem. I believe it should be combined with Mitch Tambo's version. If so, I would hope this will help with healing between Australian citizens.
The whole lead in is his vocal warm up, testing the audience response, throwing his voice, right from the very first “Yes! (geeze) We’re gonna have some fun tonight?” First sign of Sadie is the word “Mended” setting the mic, getting the accent right. “No! Shut up, we’ll do bloody Sadie” (both fists up - not yet) “Chris Newman” on the lights- getting Chris’s attention, continues vocal warm up, tests audience again, Dad joke, and on 3…
Don’t know why hasn’t been Knighted, yeh, John grew up in Australia 🇦🇺 but he was born there & the BEEGEES got some recondition. 🤷♀️ He’s ours , like the BEEGEES but WTF ?!?!
I think Mr John Farnham would be to humble a bloke to accept that sort of award , in my opinion But if it embarrassed his dearly loved mother in law , he would..
I thought the 2nd song "in my room" was way better. He wrote that as well. I am listening to an audio book narrated by John Farnham and he hated Sadie the song. I am glad he got to sing rge 2nd song.

Thankyou for sharing that bit of your life...
Oh, & ignore Mr Wilson he's just an underprivileged Grumpy old Fart.

@@paulwilson9281 Paul , you are dirt. The pure hatred in your soul is going to lead to your cancer…. So suck on that one shit for brains.
may 2023 be a great year for you and your loving family john
john farnham's crowd banters were legendary.
I loved John’s crowd banter about “Sadie”. He pretended that he hated playing it, but he’s probably got a soft spot for it.

This was my very first John Farnham concert I got on VHS. Now I got it on DVD.
Oh I just love him. I’m up way too late going down the rabbit hole of all his songs. 🥰
Best thing about Johnnie is he's not just a talented singer, he's a great funny entertainer. All round nice guy. I still remember him on C'mon Kids!
came here for the comments.....looks like I've been here b4. John is a legend...

LOVE HIM. GET WELL JOHN💞
🇭🇲 ❤️ you
A singer and a stand up comedian
Sadie the Cleaning Lady was the song that made John famous.
And later on made it difficult to get anyone to take him seriously.
"YES I'M GONNA SING BLOODY SADIE!!"
One of the best concerts in Australian history I reckon
The song that started his career but also almost ended it. Glad he came back around to it after he reconsidered the world.
What a funny man too!
How did it almost end his career?
@@Rob-fc9wg no one took him seriously when he tried to make a comeback, because he was the “Sadie” teeny bopper idol. It was in his documentary
Still is a funny dude.
John , just you singing will be a burst of love ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Saw this tour in Perth in 1990 and I vaguely remember some stuff

"Welcome, we're making a telly show on this one, it's my first final tour!"
Wow! Fantastic
This might be the most aggressively late 80s early 90s content I've ever seen

Rocking the show oh Sadie
Sweet, I havn't heard anyone say ''nick off'' in yonks!
God l love him!❤️❤️❤️
The Prince of Mullets, but also the voice of the new Aussie anthem!

This is for our firefighters ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You're so funny and so energetic.
My nannys in the front crowd with my mum
Did they throw the undies?
I just wish these older concerts were recorded on 35mm film instead of 1980’s Sony 3CCD 576i on analog video
Alex Stelling why ? 35 mm film as with most film format is jerky and grainy ? This looks like it IS live
If you have a number 1 hit you may as well play it loud and proud.
Phunomena👏👏👊💯❤
Besser geht nicht, bin Begeistert!!!😂❤😅
still doing Sadie ? Mexican wave good.
is that now rod laver yeah?
I like you sing this song
Me too :)
6 minutes of chat for 1 and half minutes of music
Yeah, but what an entertainer he is..... :)
@@VauxhallViva1975 for sure

Your parents are insane.
Your parents need to get out more!
It says " high quality" possibly high quality dross/waffle for over 5 minutes!
what do you do with all the things people give you on stage
