Just wanted to say I recently discovered your channel and I’m in love with your reactions. It’s so amazing to see someone react to these classics of cinema. I highly recommend the sequel Predator 2. The Predator look was designed by the legendary Stan Winston who also did the Terminator movies up until the 3rd movie. Originally the Predator was portrayed by Jean Claude Van Damme who left the film when he realized no one would recognize him. 😊
Thank you, I'm glad you had a good time :) This must've been a great theater experience! I'll be on the lookout for local theaters here that do screenings for old movies to see if I can catch Predator on the big screen.
The Predator species are honor bound warriors/hunters, despite how he kills his prey. Basically akin to humans hunting and killing game. They're game hunters, the only difference is they don't drug the animal they're hunting or give it any kind of disadvantage. There is a whole lore behind them.
Predator species are known as Yautja. Yautja are alien species, warrior clans. They hunt for the honor. As you stated, there are other movies since this one. Recently, actor, Shane Black who plays Hawkins in this movie is also a screenwriter and director too directed 2018's The Predator, supposed direct sequel to Predator 1 & 2.
Ol' Painless was a helicopter gun adapted for human use purely by adding a manual trigger. It was so heavy that it required a harness to operate by a 'normal' human; Jesse just worked out until he could carry it himself.
Kevin Peter Hall was the actor who played the PREDATOR, he was 7'3'' tall & was perfect for the roll, sadly he died in 1991 contracting AIDS from a blood transfusion shortly after he finished PREDATOR 2, he would have been 36 years old that year.
Such a great movie! Saw it when I was a kid in the 80’s. Made a shoulder gun out of wire and pipe and pretended I was the Predator in my backyard! New subscriber! Love your reactions!!
Infra red imaging was developed for military use in 1978, and the basic technology to take thermal images dates back to 1929. I suppose the cloaking device does qualify as future technology. Although, systems to project what's behind an object on the front surface are a thing these days. I'd say it's materials science and energy systems where the Predator really has us beat technologically. Biologically, it has us beat in virtually every way.
In the US, we have a comic called _Bizarro._ It's a single-frame comic that's published _daily._ Ages ago, I saw a comic of theirs that showed a military base with a couple pairs of combat boots not clearly connected to anything, and then a little ways up, a couple pairs of hands floating in the air directly above them, handling a _rifle,_ not evidently connected to anything, and a little ways up from that, a couple _heads_ floating in the air. One of the heads is saying to the other, "This new camouflage is _weirdin'_ me out."
I really like the first hour of Predator, with the whole team slowly getting picked off, and I enjoy the cat and mouse once Arnold is on his own. It's a nice play on the 'most dangerous game' concept/trope. Bill Duke (Mac) is in a lot of good stuff. One worth checking out, also with Arnold, is Commando. Arnold's filmography is pretty great from Conan (1982) on, and he gets really funny in the 90's with stuff like Kindergarten Cop and True Lies.
The Yautja (Predators) are a race of hunters. They travel from world to world looking for dangerous species to trophy hunt. When they come across a worthy opponent, they catalog them & advance their weaponry in order to become better killers. Some species they hunt (like the Xenomorphs) are used as a trial to become a member of the tribe.
It's such a shame that the pod scene at the start hasn't been removed from the standard version. It's not part of the movie -- it was just thrown in there at the last minute because the execs got worried people wouldn't know whats happening in the Cinemas. As one of the fortunate few who saw it for the first time without the massive spoiler at the very start, I feel sorry for everyone who doesn't get to experience it that way.
The one at the beginning? Yes that did seem out of place but I forgot about it quickly afterwards. I do agree that its a big spoiler, it would be more fun not knowing what the Predator is or where it came from.
the song they play on the trumpet when each soldier died and at the end when Hutch is in the chopper is Taps i think they play it when soldiers go to sleep in the army training grounds and when a soldier is lain to rest for the last time, it is a somber moment when they play it, please show some respect to the fallen brothers in arms, thank you
the predator removed his mask out of respect for arnold's character. The alien is part of a tribe of hunters and has recognized the value of his rival. the youngest predators are sent to different planets to hone their skills. The skull collection is part of their trophies as great hunters. The self-destruction prevents your technology from being captured.
Gustav Schwarzenegger (17 August 1907 - 13 December 1972) was an Austrian police chief (Gendarmeriekommandant), postal inspector, Nazi Brownshirt, and a military police officer. He was the father of Arnold Schwarzenegger. In his autobiography titled "Total Recall" - Arnold Schwarzenegger seems to have a selective memory on once expressing admiration for Adolf Hitler. He publicly denied it for years, but the "Terminator" star now says in his autobiography that he uttered the comments more than three decades ago.
Great reaction. Most people's favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movies are terminator 2 and true lies, but mine are predator, twins, terminator 1 and commando.
You have the Predator follow ups also.👽. The woman was speaking Spanish. One of the most quoted lines from this movie was " Get to the chopper !!!! ". There's about 4 Predator movies if I'm not mistaken. There is also another movie called " Alien vs Predator "
Fun fact, that rotary machine gun actually doesn't exist. This is just a fictional version of a real really huge gun. But that version made for the movie became much popular on action movies. Arnold itself use one of that on T2.
This movie, like you said, is a mix of action and horror while at the same time deconstructing the 80s style action movie hero. In those action movies all you needed to have to win was big muscles, an equally big gun and tons of testosterone. This movie illustrates how that doesn't work in this situation, turning these hardened mercenaries into frightened children.
The language the hostage and Dillion were speaking was Spanish. Also the girl didn’t get killed because the Predator did not attack anyone who was unarmed, that’s why Dutch took the weapon from her when she attempted to fire just before he got wounded himself.
There are amazing comics about the Yautja (real name of thre predators) like the AVP books from the 90's from Steve Perry: Prey, Planet of Hunters, War. Their culture is pretty amazing actually, with language, science and everything. And their women are in charge and "presumably" at least 15ft tall.
Kevin Peter Hall, the actor who played the Predator, was 7 foot 3 inches tall. By all accounts, he was a very sweet man. Sadly, a few years after this came out, he was in a car accident. He received a blood transfusion that was tainted with HIV and passed away shortly after. Check him out in Predator 2 and he also plays Bigfoot in Harry and the Hendersons - an underrated 80s gem. He also starred sans costume in the 1980s sci-fi show The Misfits of Science.
If no one has mentioned about LT Billy Sole, he is half Italian and half Sioux, just like his late actor Sonny Landham. Because of his tribal heritage and possible upbringing, it was why he was so tense whenever the Yautja (official can name of the Predator species).
Yes! The predator was my favorite part too. Very “human” like, but adapted to a different environment and, er, society obviously. Curious and has a kind of code, if brutal for sport and/or other ritualistic reasons.
40:06 mins - the predator uses its blade to stab Dillon so it could make him bleed, wounded, suffer. So it would make him call for help, others might come so it could set a trap. Its like a hunting sport. In the movie PREDATORS, they mention this.
Billy was a native american and a warrior. He could sense the predator because natives are more in tune with nature and have for years been regarded with mystical abilities. And he was doing a warrior on warrior stand at the end and lost. But in many native cultures esp in days before Europeans came and changed their world to die in battle was an honor and you would go to the afterlife with honor.
It wasn't until I saw a breakdown of other movies featuring predator that I realized that they had a moral code. That they don't kill children And they don't kill people unarmed, the moment you pick up a gun you are fair game.
Shree Sonny Landham aka Billy was half Cherokee and eighth Seminole born in Georgia. His character, Billy knew that he will die in combat with the Predator, so Billy drew 1st blood in a honor battle before his enemy would
you are one of the few reactors i'm not annoyed with. you're delightful. the actor playing the predator was 7 foot, the iconic Kevin Peter Hall. r.i.p. he also played Harry in Harry and the Hendersons, which you should see also.
17:24 "It's probably not that great to smoke something that big and hot in a place that's burning." And in the middle of a Guatemalan _rainforest,_ to _boot._ Look at the globe. Guatemala is _deep_ into the _tropics._
Great great reaction Shree. I saw this film in the theater in 1987 with my dad at the age of 14. We both loved it. U should check out Predator 2 as well. Back when it came out it wasn’t well received because it wasn’t like the first one at all. But now it’s viewed as a highly underrated film & the fact that it’s different is a great thing. It adds so much lore to the creature. Another great film by the director of predator is the hunt for red October. A great comedy film is Monty Python and the holy grail. The actor who played the predator was Kevin peter Hall. He was 7’2” and he played the predator in predator 2 & Harry in Harry and the Henderson’s. He died in the mid 90’s due to complications from aids he got in a blood transfusion. He was a friendly giant. He was also the helicopter pilot at the end of the film. The predator is a creature that hunts for sport & is very honorable. Also on a side note the log was suppose to be used to pull the predator up into the spikes with the vine it was connected to.
@@ShreeNation another great film to check out is the great escape from 1963. I watched that film so many times as a kid. It’s a WW2 film. John Hammond from Jurassic Park is in it along with many other popular stars at the time.
Really? I always thought the spikes were just a distraction so that he'd position himself under the log. I figured he deliberately left the spikes uncovered enough to spot since he knew he was intelligent and would go around. That makes sense too though.
My favorite movie!! I am huge, humongous (just like Arnold sir!!!) Like great big fan of predator franchise, especially 1987 first one!! You were talking after Mac got killed and you missed an important comment Arnie made about the Predator. It's probably better to pause if you are going to monologue. 😉
Fact: The Predator originally started out as an insect like creature with large eyes, a long neck and long legs which bended at the end. This design was rejected because it was rather unappealing and the costume proved to be impossible to act in due to the actor required to wear stilts so it's movement came off as stiff and not agile which wasn't suitable to do stunts in the jungle and the suit being uncomfortably hot.
Hello Shree I'm your biggest fan I just finished watching your reaction to Jaws 1975 and now just finished watching your reaction to Predator 1987 I've enjoy your reaction to this movie and I think you said something about you seeing other Predator movies because there are three more Predator 2 1990 Predators 3 2010 and the Predator 2018 I'm excited to see your reaction to the other three Predator movies but I'll be patient to see your next Predator movie reaction.
@@ShreeNation With the other movies, I would not recommend watching the forth one. It has a few good moments but overall I found it disappointing to the Predator franchise. It ruins the Predators character and the acting is mostly just cheap comedy. The irony is the director of the forth movie is actually one of the actors who starred in the first movie, the one who plays Hawkins (The first of Dutch's team to be killed off).
It's a common mistake to think it was a nuclear blast at the end. Although a mushroom cloud is associated with nuclear explosions, *any* really big explosion will result in a mushroom cloud. So there's no special reason why Arnie's character survived. Great reaction BTW, just discovered your channel and I am enjoying watching your reactions very much. Thanks.
First time watching you. I appreciate people that enjoy older movies. I do too. I myself am native American(Yakima and Cherokee) and Irish. I mostly look Irish though sadly. But I digress I wanted to recommend a movie from my childhood I was about 9-10 when it came out, it's called War Party its a highly underrated movie with an actor named Billy Wirth who also was underrated. But I think you'd enjoy this.
Btw.. theres a movie of Arnold's that almost no one reacts to but it's the one that made him famous.. "Pumping Iron", the Academy Award winning doc about Bodybuilders in the mid 1970s, where young Arnie and future Hulk star Lou Ferriigno were the main attractions. It's a fascinating movie and really shows what a charismatic guy Arnie was back then. Highly reccomend it.
39:21 Not really. The Predators like to throw in some English here and there, but you saw him record stuff earlier. He's just running his space MP3 player.
Lions absolutely will skin their prey. Their tongues literally rip flesh from bodies. Also, drinking from vines is a real survival techique, mostly taught in South American militaries.
I absolutely love the fact that the Predator lore not only connects to Alien lore, but also to The Terminator lore as well. Even though I would have to ask my brother for a refresher course; he's the real expert.💜 Movie Suggestions: Clue(1985), The 6th Day(2000), Evil Dead(1981), Chaos(2005), Stand by Me(1986), Heathers(1988), The Golden Child(1986), The Wiz(1978), Scream(1996), Encino Man(1992), Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead(1991), Gladiator(2000), Haunted Honeymoon(1986), The Rocky Horror Picture Show(1975), The Frighteners(1996), Hackers(1995), The Crow(1994), Super Mario Bros.(1993), Bedknobs and Broomsticks(1971), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang(1968), Popeye(1980), House(1985)
Also it's worth remembering that this Predator will *absolutely* go all Hurr Durr Imma Fight You, because this is an adulthood ritual. A rite-of-passage hunt against prey smart enough to be a potential problem. He's young and headstrong and inexperienced, he has never hunted sapient life, he's underestimating them every step of the way - and he's only getting away with it because of the huge head start his invisibility and thermal vision give him. Once they figure out he exists and what his technology can do, all that advantage is gone because they can think around it, and his failure to realise Arnold is planning around his advantages is what dooms him.
The guy you asked where you had seen him before? That's Carl Weathers. He's Apollo Creed on Rocky. I see you haven't done a reaction to the 1976 film yet. It's worth a reaction if you haven't seen it yet. If you like Harrison Ford, Witness (1985), Mosquito Coast (1986) and Frantic (1988) are all great movies. Surprisingly, not a single reactor on TH-cam has done any of these yet. Thanks for doing this reaction. Have a great weekend.😄👍💥🙏

The Predator's helmet has a recording device in it and acts as the species' main source of information gathering (along with the wrist computer). There are numerous comics and books that go into their backstory. Predator 2 is the first piece of franchise media to do so.

Thank you so much :') Will definitely watch Predator 2!
billy cut himself to not give the predator the satisfaction of drawing first blood
Hey happy Friday! Thanks for another great reaction! I saw this in the theater when it came out. Amazing experience.
Thank you, I'm glad you had a good time :) This must've been a great theater experience! I'll be on the lookout for local theaters here that do screenings for old movies to see if I can catch Predator on the big screen.
I actually watched this in the cinema 2 weeks ago, they were showing old movies. It was great to see it on a big cinema screen finally.
I watched it in the cinema in 1987 when it released. I was 11 and it freaked me out.
27:11 "Every animal that inhabits this forest has already left."
😄😄😄
The Predator species are honor bound warriors/hunters, despite how he kills his prey. Basically akin to humans hunting and killing game. They're game hunters, the only difference is they don't drug the animal they're hunting or give it any kind of disadvantage.
There is a whole lore behind them.
That's very fascinating. I can't wait to find out more.
@@ShreeNation Oh yeah. There are a lot of books and comics that explore the lore. Various movies including Alien vs Predator.
Did you just appreciate the fire @ 48:18???? Also, it's a great "thats what she said"😀😀😀
You are awesome! loving the reactions!
Thank you🥰
Ol' Painless was a helicopter gun adapted for human use purely by adding a manual trigger.
Thank you so much 🥰
This sci fi alien movie is an Arnold classic happy to see you reacting to this 80s classic.
Billy was done running and was ready to make his last stand on equal terms.
In the US, we have a comic called _Bizarro._ It's a single-frame comic that's published _daily._
Ages ago, I saw a comic of theirs that showed a military base with a couple pairs of combat boots not clearly connected to anything, and then a little ways up, a couple pairs of hands floating in the air directly above them, handling a _rifle,_ not evidently connected to anything, and a little ways up from that, a couple _heads_ floating in the air. One of the heads is saying to the other, "This new camouflage is _weirdin'_ me out."
Hah, good one!
The actor who played Predator was the Helicopter pilot at the end of the move. He was 7'3.
26:54 "That's not gonna work. He's probably up in the trees, by now."
He's probably half a mile _away,_ by now.
He played Apollo creed in the rocky movies and was in the Mandalorian!
13:44 "What the hell's he doing?"
"Yeah. What _is_ he doing?"
Could be curls, could be squats. With Arnold, you can never be too sure.
Also the helicopter pilot in the end that says "My god" is Kevin Peter hall. The guy who was the presator
Predator made me the man I am today!
You wondered where you have seen Dillon before, he was played by Carl Weathers. He was best known as Apollo Creed in the first 4 Rocky movies.
Great reaction. Most people's favorite Arnold Schwarzenegger movies are terminator 2 and true lies, but mine are predator, twins, terminator 1 and commando.
Looking forward to watching all of them!
@@ShreeNation 😃
Witness Harrison Ford is a good one. Midnight Run is a great comedy.
Added to my list :)
Your Tremors reaction had my curiosity. Now your Predator reaction has my attention. A movie recommendation from me, Django....!
Thank you for the recommendation :)
And their women are in charge and "presumably" at least 15ft tall.
the actor who played the Predator was Kevin Peter Hall. he was 7'2" tall. he also played Harry in Harry and the Hendersons...😉
Oh no, that's so terrible! Rest in peace to Kevin, he was really amazing and intimidating in this role :(
Not gonna mention how he's the helicopter pilot who comes to pick up Arnold?
The helicopter pilot was the actor who played the predator. Kevin Peter Hall he was 7 foot tall.
If no one has mentioned about LT Billy Sole, he is half Italian and half Sioux, just like his late actor Sonny Landham. Because of his tribal heritage and possible upbringing, it was why he was so tense whenever the Yautja (official can name of the Predator species).
"stick around " 15:27 - it was not scripted
One of my favorite movies. Sonny Landham was my favorite too. RIP.
Thank you :)
Shree
Sonny Landham aka Billy was half Cherokee and eighth Seminole born in Georgia. His character, Billy knew that he will die in combat with the Predator, so Billy drew 1st blood in a honor battle before his enemy would
predator is an extraterrestrial hunter creature that when it realizes that the opponent is a good fighter usually offers a fair fight
This is part of what some folks call the "Testosterone Trilogy": Predator, Robocop, Total Recall.
Hah! Love that!
you are one of the few reactors i'm not annoyed with. you're delightful. the actor playing the predator was 7 foot, the iconic Kevin Peter Hall. r.i.p. he also played Harry in Harry and the Hendersons, which you should see also.
I'm indian 🇮🇳 and i live in goa ,,, I like to watch your vedios,,,,, love ❤🥰you alot... Keep going.
Thank you so much 🙏
The scrubs reference was perfect.
Predator II is one of those rare sequels that is better than the original. You learn a fair amount about their culture.
17:24 "It's probably not that great to smoke something that big and hot in a place that's burning."
And in the middle of a Guatemalan _rainforest,_ to _boot._ Look at the globe.
Thank you, and thanks for sharing your first time experience with Predator and also so many movie recommendations :) I can't wait to check them out!
@@tucci06 yup. When he hits the twig to drop the log u can see the vine fly up. He just got lucky that the log was able to fall on the predator.
Kevin Peter Hall was also in an episode of Star Trek the next generation (the price).
My favorite movie!!
I am huge, humongous (just like Arnold sir!!!) Like great big fan of predator franchise, especially 1987 first one!!
I love the acting, love the one liners, humor, like I just love this movie!!! ❤
Love from India 🇮🇳 ❤
Have a great day if you're reading my comment (applies to anyone, and everyone!!)
Have a great day!
@@ShreeNation thanks 😊
Carl Weathers played Apollo Creed in the Rocky-Movies 😉 Love your Reactions 😊
Thank you ^^
@@ShreeNation my Pleasure 😁 And if you want you can watch and react to Turner & Hooch (1989) 😉
Kevin Peter Hall was almost 7'3" and was the helicopter pilot at the end of the movie.
You might recognize the one guy from the Mandalorian.. When you said I think I recognized him from somewhere Carl Weathers.. keep watching the rest ..
Hello Shree I'm your biggest fan
I just finished watching your reaction to Jaws 1975 and now just finished watching your reaction to Predator 1987 I've enjoy your reaction to this movie and I think you said something about you seeing other Predator movies because there are three more Predator 2 1990 Predators 3 2010 and the Predator 2018 I'm excited to see your reaction to the other three Predator movies but I'll be patient to see your next Predator movie reaction.
Thank you :') I will definitely check out the other Predator movies soon!
Thanks.
Thank you for the explanation, and thank you so much, glad you enjoyed🥰
First time watching you. I appreciate people that enjoy older movies. I do too. I myself am native American(Yakima and Cherokee) and Irish. I mostly look Irish though sadly. But I digress I wanted to recommend a movie from my childhood I was about 9-10 when it came out, it's called War Party its a highly underrated movie with an actor named Billy Wirth who also was underrated. But I think you'd enjoy this.
Thank you for the recommendation, i will add it to my list :) And I'm so glad you're having a good time, so happy to have you here.
When Stan Winston designed predator he based it on a Chinese dragon
Btw.. theres a movie of Arnold's that almost no one reacts to but it's the one that made him famous..
Oh wow, that sounds like an interesting film. I'll add it to my list, thank you :)
That is a great under appreciated movie. A great look into the 70s in general too.
39:21 Not really. The Predators like to throw in some English here and there, but you saw him record stuff earlier. He's just running his space MP3 player.
Jesse "The Body" Ventura was the guy with the mini-gun. a famous American wrestler and former governor of Minnesota...😳😂
Even though I would have to ask my brother for a refresher course; he's the real expert.💜
Movie Suggestions: Clue(1985), The 6th Day(2000), Evil Dead(1981), Chaos(2005), Stand by Me(1986), Heathers(1988), The Golden Child(1986),
The Wiz(1978), Scream(1996), Encino Man(1992), Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter's Dead(1991), Gladiator(2000),
Haunted Honeymoon(1986), The Rocky Horror Picture Show(1975), The Frighteners(1996), Hackers(1995), The Crow(1994),
Super Mario Bros.(1993), Bedknobs and Broomsticks(1971), Chitty Chitty Bang Bang(1968), Popeye(1980), House(1985)
Thank you for the movie recommendations!
His blood is green because he is like a strong marthian with advance technology
Thank you :) Predator backstory is really super fascinating.
Best villain laugh ever.
Never blaspheme any lines from Arnold Movies. Treasure the cheesy goodness of the ultimate one liners that movies today can only dream of
The pilot at the end was the predator
The guy you asked where you had seen him before? That's Carl Weathers. He's Apollo Creed on Rocky. I see you haven't done a reaction to the 1976 film yet. It's worth a reaction if you haven't seen it yet. If you like Harrison Ford, Witness (1985), Mosquito Coast (1986) and Frantic (1988) are all great movies. Surprisingly, not a single reactor on TH-cam has done any of these yet. Thanks for doing this reaction. Have a great weekend.😄👍💥🙏
Oh that's what I remember him from! Thanks. I am definitely eager to watch Rocky, since I have watched it before I'm planning to do a separate series on movies I've watched and loved so stay tuned ;)
And thank you for the other movie recommendations too, I'll be sure to watch them and give my thoughts!
@@ShreeNation his more recent role was in The Mandalorian
That machine gun Jesse's character holding would yoke him according to some military vets because of the torque involved
Hah!
The Predator collects trophies like a human hunter.
The Predator's helmet has a recording device in it and acts as the species' main source of information gathering (along with the wrist computer). There are numerous comics and books that go into their backstory. Predator 2 is the first piece of franchise media to do so.
Thats really interesting. I'm loving how much backstory this character has. Thank you for the explanation :)
