Predator mimicking and taunting Dutch's men is not only intimidating but downright scary, too! Especially when the Predator uses Billy's laugh at the end of the film before the Predator nuked himself! -OG
The Predator is basically what we would consider a thrill-seeking big game hunter here on earth. On whatever planet the Predator is from (they flesh out the species a little more in the underrated sequel), he's probably a rich elite who wants to decorate his mansion with the skins and skulls of the most dangerous game. From the Predator's perspective, the most dangerous game is unfortunately humans. He took Billy's skull as a trophy because Billy tried to 1v1 him with only a machete once he realized that the Predator was just in this for the sport, and the Predator saw Billy as a worthy adversary. When the Predator sees that Dutch (Arnold) actually became a challenge for him, he decided to try and 1v1 Arnold w/o weapons because of pride. I really like how much they revealed about the creature and its motivations without force-feeding it to the audience through clunky dialogue or exposition. I think the director didn't even want the opening shot with the space ship in the film because he wanted the audience to be as confused as the troops were in the beginning, learning throughout the movie that they were being attacked by an ET, but the producers insisted on the space shot because they doubted the intelligence of the audience. Obligatory RIP Carl Weathers. That handshake with Schwarzenegger will forever be iconic in it's masculinity.
It kinda bothers me when people take a movie from the 70s or 80s and say, "Great special effects -- for the time period." Hey, a lot of really good movies had some really fantastic special effects from that time period, even by today's standards. Practical effects will always be better than CGI effects anyway.

Also, the helicopter pilot at the end (the black guy, at 27:08) was Kevin Peter Hall, the actor inside the suit who played the Predator. He was about 7 feet tall (213cm) but with the robotic Predator head on top of his, it made him 8 feet (244cm) tall.
I love, support and appreciate your stand on better portrayal of South America!! One thing I ask is that you consider some issues with time. It tends to seem that in your youth you might forget that every where has changed and not the same since the 70’s and 80’s. That being said, I do agree and support you that a lot of times portrayals of these countries have not been done fairly. And that is something that needs to change! Thank you again for your wonderful recreations!
LOL calma te 🤣 about your pronunciation! You're fluent in Spanish, English, and I think French? You're already head and shoulders above the very low linguistic bar set here in the States. Also you saying "I'm old" is comedy gold... Você é um bebê! Predator is honestly the epitome of 1980s American Action/Sci-Fi muscle / masculinity and over exaggerated ridiculousness that defined that insane decade. *Edit: Rest in Peace Carl Weathers, what a gem. -paz e amor from Brooklyn
16:15 "Request for extraction denied" and you asking if they're just abandoning them makes me think of the opening of "The Rock" (1996) when one of Gen. Hummel's Marines who come under heavy attack during a covert operation says "They're not coming for us, are they, sir?"
When they all fire into the jungle after Blaine dies is called "The Mad Minute". There are many definitions, one of which is to fire a large amount of ammunition if the direction of a threat axis to overwhelm or discourage a possible attack. You'll notice that they fire their weapons for just about a minute.
I think this is such a unique film. It starts out as a typical 80s war movie and then changes genre and becomes a horrific gore monster film that also happens to be an extraterrestrial! -OG

Hawkins' jokes are on another level.
I saw Predator in the theater when it came out a few times. Great experience
Dude...hilarious thumbnail. the dots lol
Thank you for your reaction and rant. Enjoyed it.

RIP Carl
i like the way you say Predator :P
16:15 "Request for extraction denied" and you asking if they're just abandoning them makes me think of the opening of "The Rock" (1996) when one of Gen. Hummel's Marines who come under heavy attack during a covert operation says "They're not coming for us, are they, sir?"
Incredible music from Alan Silvestri.
Billy didn't want to die running. He was going out fighting.
-OG
as always a great reaction !
Hi Amanda! When I was 16, I survived a similar situation, and I didn't need any therapy. I worked with an older woman, maybe 30ish, and we called her The Predator. She was after all us high school boys, and going into the freezers or reefers when she was on duty was always dangerous.
Can't wait till the next reaction.🥰
Huh???🫣
RIP Carl Weathers
The predator is a trophy hunter. The one in Predator 2 is another member of the same species.
I like having your perspective 👍
Dillon picking up a few " bad habits". May we all follow his lead.. RIP Carl 👊🏻❤ sidenote: in English, guerrillas and gorillas are pronounced EXACTLY the same; known as a " homophone" - spelled differently and or having different meaning / origins etc. 😅
It's hard for me to believe this movie is 37 years old already. Seeing Carl here, how young and strong he looked, it seems like yesterday.
