I guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
this is a stupid narrative to keep pushing. if you own an EM1 Si or a CRX or something, and a thief actually wants it, owning stick isn't gonna stop it from being taken. the most it will stop is teenage joyriders (your gears are gonna get fucked if they decide to go faster than 1st gear will allow them). that's it. sticks won't stop actual car thieves
fast, informative, and you guys did a very clean and professional job on those electrical connections. so many "how to install a tach" vids ive seen are sloppy and careless. Thank you guys. good show
My friend has two of these installed in his car, three if you count the one on the dash cluster. Then again he also has a boost gauge but no turbo LOL.
There is no way this video is 12 years old. I remember wiring up the tachometer on my 78 ford when I was 15(24 now) and watched this for help. Almost 9 years of mcm for me. Absolutely crazy!
1:30 THANKS MARTY AND MOOG! I got a 1986 Dodge Ram 50 4g54 2.6L (Mitsubishi L200 where you guys are from) and Im getting her running for the first time in 7 years. I got it started and the tach is not reading ... My coil looks a tad rusty and im wonder about cleaning the LEFT TERMINAL or just replacing with new. I HOPE THIS WORKS. Once again yall come in CLUTCH. THANKS OLD MCM VIDEO!!
Well with a few simple parts you can get off of ebay including: a GPS to locate taco stands, a large guage to show when you are getting close to a taco stand, an led alarm light to let you know when you have located a taco, then some wiring and a soldering iron to help you install it in your car.
I need a bigger one because you can read the rpm in a shorter amount of time compared to the little one inbuilt in the dash. And It looks quite cool tbh!
I have a car that never had a tach gauge standard, how would I install an aftermarket one. Its going to be small, and I want one because it runs like shit
Hi can you please tell me what is the part of the car where the gauge is attached called because I can't understand its name in the video. Thanks. Great vid bdw
On the dragstrip with a high revving engine it might be useful with a tach that size but for everyday driving, one that goes up to 6-7k rpm and in-dash small size would be enough if even necessary.
Can you install a Taco gauge on your mad diahatsu? It's like a shift light, but it turns on when your tacos are ready at the other side of the drive thru
I have an 82 suzuki sierra, no ECU, no fuel injection, hardly any electrics. They said something about a negative point from the distributor, what am I looking for to wire up the tachometer?
hi guys good work actually m in lil problem i have mazda 3 2006 and i got hks rpm meter . i dont no from where can i get rpm coil can u plz tell me how and from where i can get rpm coil thanks
@masterkronixster wire you're looking for should be coming from coil, not distributor. have you got a workshop manual? look in a workshop manual at the wiring diagrams and look for the instrument cluster, should be a wire for tacho somewhere. Most cars are pre-equipped with the wiring for a tacho behind the instrument cluster (even if your model was never equipped with one), just have to get a wiring diagram and find out which ones.
You need to disconnect the battery when working on electrical. Soldering irons inject small voltages into the wire you are soldering, which may or may not be protected.
How do soldering irons "inject voltage"?The only issue you might have is if you are using a cheap 2$ iron that isnt properly grounded and you get a static shock.
You are both morons. A) Soldering iron tips are referenced directly to earth. B) They do not "inject" voltages .... if yours does, next time don't buy an iron from the dollar store C) If the iron wasn't grounded, how would that in any way cause you to get a static shock? That doesn't make any sense.
lol,you might want to go reeducate yourself then. You'll soon realize that just because something is grounded with a 3 prong plug that it doesnt automatically make it esd safe. There is still a potential for damage caused by a difference in electrical potential that could exist between the iron and whatever you're working on.But hey I'm so sure that you already knew that. Oh and you might also want to read my original comment again since reading comprehension has failed you.Because as you so gracefully pointed out how a cheap dollar store iron that isnt grounded could be a problem.Or was my answer wrong because I said 2$ iron??Instead of dollar store? Either way you are wrong on both points. but thanks for stalking me online. It really truly shows what kind of person you truly are.
Here’s my question I have a 1987 S10 it has the 2.5L Where would I hook the I guess you would call main tachometer wire that gives the RPMs signal up to? I know a lot of people are going to laugh at me but I’m confused
all u have to do for the tacho signal is look in the fusebox and look for the guage/guages fuse pull the fuse out. push the wire in and replace the fuse
Red = power (fuse box) Black = ground wire Blue/Green = tachometer sending wire White = power to backlight (when headlights are on, so hook it to that)
"If your cars not that quick like ours, a big gauge let's you know exactly how fast you're not going" I lol'd... and then cried in my mazda protege dx.
hey guys love the show was just wonder if you could do an episode where you show how to do a tacho gauge from the coil since i got a good old ford fiesta but it doesen't have a gauge and i would love to know how to do it thanks a million if you can do a episode on it if not no big deal ill keep on watching the show
What good multimeter for rpms do you recommend? And do some scanners have an adapter just to check rpms on a vehicle, just like the multimeter's leads?
Damn - I was about to sell the AUDI for the Hyundai+Tacho combo. It's good that everything on the internet is real and trustworthy and there for the greater benefit of society. I almost made a huge mistake!
i beg to differ with that Hyundai thing. I have 2 a 2014 genisis coupe v6 and a 2002 Elantra GT with a 4G63 pushing 17psi and 430hp at the wheels, and she looks mostly stock. I have surprised a few Porsche's, BMW's and pretty much anyone who raced me with that car.
Hey Guys great Vid both funny and informative. Heres a question. I am installing a custom dash in an old Holden Ute and I want to use a Nissan Gauge Cluster that has all the Gauges built in including a Tacho. Since this set came out of a late model Skyline the Tacho obviously wont be set up for a 253 V8. Is there any way to mod the Tacho so it will work with my 253? The speedo ratios are exactly the same as the original car cause I got technical & used a drill to measure both speedos.
Can you guys show the procedure for new 5.7 hemi engines (multi displacement system) 2007 and newer with automatic 4/8 cylinder shut off when foot's easy on gas ?
I did an engine conversion on my B11 Nissan laurel spirit and now my tacho is behaving crazy. Stock engine was a E15 an i swapped in a Ga 14 de. Does anyone have a solution to fix this problem? I was told by an electrician that this was due to the signal different.
Sometimes this can be fixed by putting a resistor in line from the back of your dash, where the tacho is getting signal from. gonna have to do some research.
How to install this in a car with electric ignition coil? I have 4 wires in there.. a positive, a negative and the others two say "IGN A" and "IGN B"... where do i conect the signal wire?... By the way, sorry by my english xD
@Jashomartin Pretty much anywhere that sells gauges? You don't need a huge one with a shift light etc, you can get small ones that just have the needle, like a normal tacho, or you can get those monster tach's with the shift lights etc, which no one really needs cos' if you don't know when to change gear on the street, well, enough said.
hi guys ,i own a TD27 diesel engin my van never came with teco but i was told there is a unit on the engin can u help me locate a teco that will work on this engin i live in trinidad i no the size mater but shipping may mater so i will have to go for a small one can u get a price first .rajen.
Aesthetic, better viewpoint (preference) or in my case, your stock tacho doesn't work. It may be more accurate if it's anything like an aftermarket boost gauge.
ive got a sunpro afr gauge and after installing it it stayed at lean didnt sway then i put 2 new O2 sensors in and now instead of 1 main led lit it goes up to 2 ive had it in the orange range barely lit never reaches ideal mixture nor does it sway when throttle is peaked any suggestions as to why it stays to lean? i have a ford zx2
I can shift nicely until my sound system is on higher volume. The sub runs louder than the engine if you hear music with a lot of beats, thats why i would prefer external rpm gauges. Its just a personal preference, no need to get offensive here
I don't know what happen with me but my tacho look like to count only half of the true rpm because in the slow, it indicate 300 rpm and cut off to 3500 rpm this is impossible for a corolla. I collect it like you but I have two plug for the rpm signal, so two blue and yellow wire. Do I take there two wire together and collect it to the standard ignition wire of the tachometer? Please help me
It's crazy seeing and hearing the new videos compared to the old! Reminds me of the How It's Made soundtrack!
I guess Im randomly asking but does anybody know a way to log back into an instagram account..?
I stupidly lost my password. I appreciate any tricks you can offer me
@Payton Jeremias Instablaster =)
0:45 "if your car is no that quick like ours, a big gauge let's you know exactly how fast you're not going"
i didn't expect a joke here
You know the funny thing is, i never really learn how to do stuff from mcm, but i still watch it for entertainment.
Same hahaha!
Lol same here
So true lmao
i dont even have a license
John Smith im to young so i just watch it because its entertaining and interestring
>Thief magnet.
Good thing I live in the USA, where car jackers don't know how to drive stick. ;D
Lol, if you can drive stick in america you're more likely to get woman that can't afford autos lol
I'm from PA and I drive an 84 w100 with a 4 speed manual tranny like 5 times a week, not that hard
Not true. My 98 ram was a stick and it got jacked in houston.
this is a stupid narrative to keep pushing. if you own an EM1 Si or a CRX or something, and a thief actually wants it, owning stick isn't gonna stop it from being taken. the most it will stop is teenage joyriders (your gears are gonna get fucked if they decide to go faster than 1st gear will allow them). that's it. sticks won't stop actual car thieves
fast, informative, and you guys did a very clean and professional job on those electrical connections. so many "how to install a tach" vids ive seen are sloppy and careless. Thank you guys. good show
If in doubt check your wiring diagram. If you can't work it out, do the whole install then pay an auto electrician to do the rev wire for you.
15 years later mighty car mods coming in clutch😂
My friend has two of these installed in his car, three if you count the one on the dash cluster.
Then again he also has a boost gauge but no turbo LOL.
whats so funny about a boost gauge in a non turbo car?
I cant think of a name yea i know its kinda wierd because it doesn't do anything except read vacuum
RICE RICE
Shaharyar Rehan BABY
There is no way this video is 12 years old. I remember wiring up the tachometer on my 78 ford when I was 15(24 now) and watched this for help. Almost 9 years of mcm for me. Absolutely crazy!
Gosh this music is awfully damn close to the sound track to "How it's made"
lol true haha
Reminds me of gran tourismo on ps2
"a tacho will not make your Hyundai cool" hahah the best part of the video!
thanks guys!:)
But how do I install a Taco Gauge?!?
Go to Taco Bell, and buy a taco, place it on your dash
Mr_ Maus13 Taco gauge is measured in 1000 tacos/min, which keeps track of how many tacos you eat.
joeman543 Buy a midget Mexican
go to kfc buy a taco and place it on your dash
That was great! A neat, clean install with just the right amount of humor thrown in.
1:30 THANKS MARTY AND MOOG! I got a 1986 Dodge Ram 50 4g54 2.6L (Mitsubishi L200 where you guys are from) and Im getting her running for the first time in 7 years. Once again yall come in CLUTCH. THANKS OLD MCM VIDEO!!
Thanks! the close ups of your hands and tools helped a bunch!
back when Marty had hair
yup
his hair is in the bin
Old MCM videos make me smile
do yall know anything about putting rev limit on carburetor-ed cars . i have an early 90's opel 140S
15 years......and still usefull video XD.... (thats why am here)
For some cars you can put the RPM signal wire from the gauge into the OBD port in the IG slot, It worked for me
+Melted Record Visuals & Mixes no not ecu, if you have kik or something I can send you a pic of it
It makes the video way funnier if you think of tacos everytime he says tacho XD
I have this Tach, how do set where the shift light comes on????
set the ;little knob to your shift to the rpms you want to shift at
What a blast from the past love you guys!!
Well with a few simple parts you can get off of ebay including: a GPS to locate taco stands, a large guage to show when you are getting close to a taco stand, an led alarm light to let you know when you have located a taco, then some wiring and a soldering iron to help you install it in your car.
What's the song that starts at 00:18? Been trying to find it, and they use it frequently. Not released as a single or what?
+Bryan Young pretty sure it's one of moog's songs, probably on his mcmtv2 page description or something
not all car manufacturers has the same wiring color codes... not all tacho are electronic... some tacho are cable driven tacho..
i need to know how to install i temp gauge in my 2000 dodge neon can u help
I need a bigger one because you can read the rpm in a shorter amount of time compared to the little one inbuilt in the dash. And It looks quite cool tbh!
thanks so the spark plug is used to tell the revs of the engine and i have to make sure i get one with three wires
I have a car that never had a tach gauge standard, how would I install an aftermarket one. Its going to be small, and I want one because it runs like shit
i would like to know this too
arcadeportal32 so how does the gauge gonna make the car run better?
Hi can you please tell me what is the part of the car where the gauge is attached called because I can't understand its name in the video. Thanks. Great vid bdw
A-pillar
they have their uses especially for race application
wrong i race and i use a tec so i can keep my shift even without haveing to look down at my dash tec
I don't get it. So this mod is illegal in Australia because of "view obstruction", but drinking and driving is totally legit?
On the dragstrip with a high revving engine it might be useful with a tach that size but for everyday driving, one that goes up to 6-7k rpm and in-dash small size would be enough if even necessary.
They look so young...god, cant believe this was 8 years ago or so
good old mcm.
I have a Honda Civic ex 2002 coupe standard, it has coils I dependent, my question is where can I take the rpm signal to install a tachometer.
Can you install a Taco gauge on your mad diahatsu? It's like a shift light, but it turns on when your tacos are ready at the other side of the drive thru

"A Tacho will not make your Hyundai Cool" ... So True. XD.
TheRealLazerBlazer22 i didn't think of speed when I got my coupe, I just love the way it looks, and its reliable
Will it make my Dodge Caravan cool?

***** lol I think you need to read up on ESD some more ;)
SouthJerseySound My friend, I know more about ESD than you know about typing stupid shit online (which seems to be a lot)
lol,you might want to go reeducate yourself then. You'll soon realize that just because something is grounded with a 3 prong plug that it doesnt automatically make it esd safe. There is still a potential for damage caused by a difference in electrical potential that could exist between the iron and whatever you're working on.But hey I'm so sure that you already knew that.

Miss these episodes
Mighty mods come along way
Watching again after 12 years 👍🏻
depends where you install it, if it "obstructs" your view, it might be illegal, so install it away from the windshield
Is it legal to have my Tacho on my dash? like where some people put boost gauges?
***** Aslong as it doesnt block the view
Here’s my question I have a 1987 S10 it has the 2.5L Where would I hook the I guess you would call main tachometer wire that gives the RPMs signal up to? I know a lot of people are going to laugh at me but I’m confused

MCM I need help on getting through the ignition coil on a 1991 toyota mr2. Please message me.
Hey, do you guys get your electrical stuff from jaycar?
My rev counter I want to install into my ke70 corolla 4age has four wires so i know where three of them go but where does the fourth one go?
Red = power (fuse box)
Black = ground wire
Blue/Green = tachometer sending wire
White = power to backlight (when headlights are on, so hook it to that)
finally a new video!!!!
excited as
@KScharba Sure is - before it was famous!
OMG watching this at 2017 and look how Moog and Marty looks younger
"If your cars not that quick like ours, a big gauge let's you know exactly how fast you're not going"
I lol'd... and then cried in my mazda protege dx.
i have celica 3sge beams engine , red top , but i cant find the rpm wire , any 1 knows where i may get the rpm signal ? thanks
The yellow things are heat shrink. It just covers the wire so the bear wire won't short out on anything. The tool he has is a wire stripper.
hey guys love the show was just wonder if you could do an episode
where you show how to do a tacho gauge from the coil since i got
a good old ford fiesta but it doesen't have a gauge and i would love
to know how to do it thanks a million if you can do a episode on it
if not no big deal ill keep on watching the show
hi goodday mightcarmoods, can u make a video how to install tacho gauge on hyundai elantra 2012? thanks mate.
Umm is this a joke?
+oreomcore yes i am

#huyndai cool
I think you guys should do some mods on turbo diesels as well, but then again though I guess that they aren't popular in AUS

@Jashomartin Pretty much anywhere that sells gauges? rigid one to my 88 toyota pick up 4x4, looks mad. It didnt have a tachometer so its also practical.
hey i have a 98 eclipse and would i find the rpm wire going to the transmission or the distributor cap?
Aesthetic, better viewpoint (preference) or in my case, your stock tacho doesn't work. It may be more accurate if it's anything like an aftermarket boost gauge.
Wouldn't it be easier to use the OBDII plug if it's accessible?
Does anyone know exactly what tool Marty is using to splice and strip wires. I need one of those.
Love to know where you can get one of those automatic wire strippers
you should do a vid on how to install eclectric oil presure an oil temp gauges
were Did You put your techometer???? I Didnt quite hear you
What kind of Ford is that car? Because it's using a Mazda engine... Somewhere between 1986 and 1992...
ford lazer
EvilJ069 It's the TRDLZR
+EvilJ069 Or in 'murica it was the 1991-1996 Ford Escort
ive got a sunpro afr gauge and after installing it it stayed at lean didnt sway then i put 2 new O2 sensors in and now instead of 1 main led lit it goes up to 2 ive had it in the orange range barely lit never reaches ideal mixture nor does it sway when throttle is peaked any suggestions as to why it stays to lean? i have a ford zx2
it might help if you left some more info like make and model .... but red to green black to yellow blue to grey cut the red wire boom.....
I totally read that in Martys voice. Maaaad
Good day mate-
Hey man-
How we doing?-
Im alright-
Mad-
LMAOOO i love Moog!
is this mod legal in australia, victoria?
I can shift nicely until my sound system is on higher volume. The sub runs louder than the engine if you hear music with a lot of beats, thats why i would prefer external rpm gauges. Its just a personal preference, no need to get offensive here
Great work, as usual.
wouldu have any video tunning up a d16y8 97 civic if not u have to make up r anything at all thx
the flames on it give you a extra 30kw!!!
How do you install this on a 2002 ford focus... There a green with blue line on a cable do I use that?
what if im swapping cluster to one that has a tacho gauge?
Any one know were the negative side of the coil is on a skyline r33
is that an sr hardware rev burner tach?
I don't know what happen with me but my tacho look like to count only half of the true rpm because in the slow, it indicate 300 rpm and cut off to 3500 rpm this is impossible for a corolla. I collect it like you but I have two plug for the rpm signal, so two blue and yellow wire. Do I take there two wire together and collect it to the standard ignition wire of the tachometer? where in sydney are you guys about?
Not sure what Wood Work has to do with this? To make some nice dash trim perhaps?
