They always give not just 100% but their 200% in live performances. That’s why VIPs (name of the fandom) prefer watching their live performances than the music video. We are not obsessed with MV views, we are just enjoying their music.

Bigbang have been given the title “KINGS OF KPOP” they are literally the legends of kpop, in 2015 they were earning over 2.16 million a day and set trends countless of times in Asia they created the light sticks that you’ll see all the kpop groups today have and their music is just legendary.

Honestly, whenever I watch other K-pop groups' live performances, I really can't help but compare them to BIGBANG. I've seen and experienced BIGBANG LIVE! I can definitely say that BIGBANG never disappoints when it comes to live performances!! Seriously! Even award shows feel like their own concert!

Take note. BIGBANG is a second generation idol group. Their followers consist of dedicate to casual fans to random people who enjoy listening to their music. Most of their long time fans are probably in their 30s to 50s by now, Maybe even older. Most of us younger ones came from their 2012 or 2015 era. We literally heard their songs when we were babies or kids and got stuck in our memory. Unlike BTS, BIGBANG doesn't release a group album every year, so they kind of disappear and then reappear after a few years. But they always bring out good songs, so people gravitate back to them. And just by watching all their live performance, they are a must idol to see LIVE. They always give their 100%.
I know everyone new to idol world will think idols are meant to dance and sing, but tbh, I prefer they focus on their main talent, singing. I've seen some idol groups, even popular to known ones use too much AR and MR because they cant sing live on their concert. To me, that's a big turn off. If you watch Korean award shows, you'll see which idol groups can sing LIVE and will use recorded LIVE. The live audience and those watching at home were totally annoyed and disappointed at some of the lipsynching.

Oh, one funny but cool fact, BIGBANG is always a must watch by audience during award shows. The ratings of these Korean award shows usually goes up whenever BIGBANG performs. And everyone says that idols and everyone else on the award shows stop on their tracks when BIGBANG performs on stage. One old video confirmed that. People back stage were literally glued on monitors just watching BIGBANG. There was also one instance that BIGBANG was rehearsing on stage, staff were supposed to be working but everyone stop whatever they were doing and watch them rehearse. 😂😂
I consider that nonsense if you said everyone will stop and mesmerize to see another group performance especially New Gen. But I have no doubt since it's Big Bang. I don't think I can see another group having that huge aura, confidence, and charisma on stage. BTW where can I watch the video, backstage people are glued to see Big Bang perform.

There is another must see performance but from the MAMA awards, (Mnet Asian Music Awards) from the yr before in 2014. ❣️GD x Taeyang - Good Boy with English subtitle (Complete Version) Only GD & Taeyang performing Good Boy. Link in reply. This is the one that shows BTS in the audience in the area in front where the other performing idols groups sit. This is where GD does an amazing rap performance beforehand, which is why I chose a vid that had the ever so important eng subs, where GD (G-Dragon) is actually shading the very award show as well as others that always give the same idols from the same big companies awards, not giving others a chance. GD performed this although BigBang as well as the members were the ones who always win most of those awards back then, but he still wanted to speak out in spite of it about all the corruption in the industry back then. Which was one of the reason groups from smaller companies without connections or money had quite hard if not impossible to break through. BTS being one of those groups. GD & Taeyang actually performed a quite short version of Fantastic Baby in the end, normally a song from BIGBANG as a whole, but I thought seeing a vid that has the Eng subs for GD’s rap in the beginning was the priority!

Yep, I second this for the next live performance you should check out. Next to Bang Bang Bang, I’d say the next energy-filled song is Fantastic Baby which is even older but still beyond its time. The song Sober maybe after that.
Switching to sadder ones, you already heard Loser, but you should also check out If You, Last Dance, Blues, and Haru Haru. Something that’s underrated but shows their different register is Cafe.
They came back after many years last year with Still Life which deserves a listen as well.

BigBang are still a group. They have not come out publicly and said we are done as a group. They are taking a break right now. They have done this in the past before. They respect their families and personal health to do this for themselves. I know Taeyang said he needed a break after completing his military duties in 2019. He is ready now to do solo projects. Also, T.O.P. is actually really going into space this year!!! Crazy!!! Also, check out Still Life. It is a beautiful song! It came out last year. They are the KINGS of KPOP! 👑👑👑👑👑

Fun facts about Bigbang / VIPs:
1. The fandom never stream BB MVs. We watch their live performance videos instead.
2. VIP is known as the “laziest” fandom cuz we don’t hype over mass voting and stuff. BB music is good enough to win awards.
3. This crown 👑 light sticks is actually THE FIRST light stick in KPOP. Designed by Gdragon.
4. Gdragon is the leader of BB. However, in his trainee period, he dreamed of being a HipHop duo with TAEYANG.
5. LIE was one of the hittest song of BB back then. GD produced it for hisself originally.
6. BB has not yet disbanded. And will never be. Cuz no one loves Bigbang more than Bigbang members.
Streaming culture did not exist during 2nd generation. I think about a big portion of overseas fans in the older days download TH-cam videos and illegally download songs. They watch videos offline and burn mp3 on CDs. I'm not calling out anyone, I'm revealing facts. ✌

YES!! Bigbang! They have NOT disbanded just on a hiatus since 2017! Here is an extensively long introduction and brief history of Bigbang:
They debuted in 2006 from YG Entertainment. They were not super successfull right from the start but with Lies in 2007 and Haru Haru in 2008 they catapulted to superstardom in South Korea. They just grew bigger with each comeback and started to get international fame too. And this was before streaming, TH-cam and social media were huge like they are now.
They really like to experiment with their music, you'll never know what to expect from them.... pop-rock to EDM to old school rap and everything in between. I think that is one of the biggest reasons why they are so loved by both kpop fans and the general public. Never trust a kpop fan who doesn't know Bigbang (or the other 2nd gen legends).
They have a hand in everything regarding their music, writing and producing (GD is the one who started the whole idols doing their own music thing), they fund their concert tours 100% themselves, they design the lighting, stages, setlists, arrangements etc for concerts.
They are hugely respected in the kpop industry and they are the blueprint that other companies use to form their new groups. Labels used to bring trainees to Bigbang concerts when they were active to show them stage presence, how to engage the audience and how to perform. ”Even if Bigbang isn’t your bias, they are your bias’ bias.” They are basically five very talented and charismatic soloists and when you have them in the same group as Bigbang, magic happens.

GD (G-Dragon): Leader, Rapper, Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (high tone voice, very distinct and easy to regocnize voice)
TOP: Rapper, (minimal) Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Art collector, born 1987 (deep and low voice)
Taeyang: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, born 1988 (the smooth R&B voice)
Daesung: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, Drummer, born 1989 (most of his solo stuff is under the name D-Lite in Japan) (Powerful, husky voice, very easy to regocnise also) (Check D'splay here on TH-cam, he is totally not Daesung *wink*)
ex-member Seungri: Vocals, Producer, Songwriter, Actor, born 1990 (light pretty voice) (Left BB in 2019 due to a scandal (he was our maknae for 13 years so I'm including him here and he's in all of BB's MVs except Still Life). I can write a different comment here on the "scandal", but all in all it was a super messy, very public and complicated witch hunt, There is A LOT of misinformation going around on this scandal and about him so when reading about this be careful of the sources of the info, I would go with official statements and not tabloids (as they are 95% wrong) to get the correct idea on what happened.)
Seungri was the core of BB and I don't think they will make an actual comeback (Still Life was only them fulfilling a promise to us VIPs) as Bigbang without him. They have become real brothers over the years and they are still as close as ever. Bigbang will always be 5. We'll have to wait and see what happens in the future. Personally, I'm hoping they will unite under their own label, make a comeback and give zero f**ks about what everybody says.
They don't really dance during their MVs and lives (like pretty much all other groups do) but they are talented dancers, especially Taeyang, GD and Seungri. When you get to know them more you will see that TOP is the greatest dancer of all!! LOL. Seungri even had a dance academy and many idols trained there, like J-Hope (BTS) and Minzy (2NE1).
BB are the kings of live performances!! They like to arrange their songs differently for pretty much every concert and live show. They have had the same live band with them since 2012. The Band Six was put together by the request of GD and they toured with BB for years until they went to hiatus for military and the band has since toured with other YG groups, mainly Blackpink. My personal favorites live are Café (MADE Tour), Tell Me Goodbye (Japan Dome Tour X 2014-2015), Candle/Fools Only Tears (Love & Hope Tour 2011), Haru Haru (acoustic version in any tour try the Japan Dome Tour X) and Sober (MADE Tour with Daesung on the drums). I highly recommend watching a concert, the Japan dome tour X 2014-2015 is one of the best ones and the MADE or 0to10 tours are also great ones.
But to fully grasp the impact they have had, here is a list of some things that are very normal now in kpop but what Bigbang started and changed:
- Lightsticks (GD invented the concept and designed BB's yellow crown lightstick, the bang bong)
- First fandom name: VIP
- TOP was the first underground rapper (he went by the name Tempo) turned idol turned into a successfull actor.
- Writing their own songs and producing their own music (GD, the musical genius, but all of them write and produce). So now younger idols have the chance to make their own music thanks to GD and BB breaking the stereotype of idols.
- Different genres of music started to be more common in Kpop thanks to them (Hip Hop, EDM...) as they were exploring different genres and making variety of differend genre music.
- Combining different genres in one song became popular thanks to them. Like Bang bang bang. (They were not the first to do this but they made it popular)
- Fantastic Baby started the EDM era in Kpop.
- To have actual rappers in a group and not a group member who can't sing well enough and was trained to rap here and there. The first real rapline GD&TOP (and they actually have an album together from 2011).
- Rapper combo with higher voice and a deeper voice and at least one deep voiced rapper in a group.
- Solo carees, back in the day idols started their solo careers only after disbanding, but BB members wanted to go solo and stay in BB. And they have done it super well.. All of them have a very successful solo career.
- Every group having a maknae (youngest) position. BB has two Seunghyuns, TOP and Seungri. They used to call Seungri maknae not to confuse the two with each other and now every single group has a maknae.
- The first brand global ambassador GD with Chanel.
- International success before social media and streaming were a thing.
- First real world tour (Alive tour 2012-2013)
- First international awards
- First mini albums
- They were always themselves, goofy, weird and funny. So group members now can also be more free to who they are (and not signed to a certain role in a group)
- High fashion in kpop (mainly GD.. and TOP)
- Crazy hair colors (mainly GD again)
- The list goes on..
"YG made BIGBANG but BIGBANG made YG." - Yang Hyun Suk (YG himself, the founder of YG ent.)
YG ent is one of the "BIG 4" all thanks to BB. Many kpop fans doesn't seem to know this, but YGE was extremely poor (like going bankrupt level) and a tiny company when BB were trainees and debuted and thanks to Bigbang's success (and 2NE1) they are now one of the biggest companies out there. BB was responsible for over 60% of YGEs income at one point and for some time too.
They've had scandals over the years (some real and some not) that has caused them to have a somewhat "problematic" image especially among the younger kpop fans. But in my opinion most of it is just South Korean media (and knets) hating on them (they always have) and them being grown up men just living their life in the super conservative world of kpop idols. They have never cared about the clean idol image, they smoke, party, drink and date as they wish.
What I personally love the most about them is that they really don't give a f**k about anything anymore, they just do what they like the most, and that is excellent music. With this modern era of kpop with the super conservative rules and squeky clean images it'll be fun to see BB shake things up when they finally appear in the public again with BB or solo promotions starting now with Taeyang and GD and maybe TOP later this year!! The world of kpop was very different when I started my kpop journey in 2010... groups were collaborating, male and female idols were collaborating and were friends in public, idols were more mature compared to today's idols (as a 36 year old, I prefer adult idols and a bit more mature group consepts), no useless scandals over every little thing and the fandoms weren't nearly as toxic as they are now, ah the golden era of kpop. I miss those days. Newer fans have no idea what they have missed out on.
I would recommend to start either from the start with La La La or go with the MADE album. All songs from that album (except If You, see the tour report for this one) has an MV. Also they all have excellent solo music with their own flare. Please check out Daesung (D-Lite) - Anymore (live Japan dome tour 2017), G-Dragon - Coup d'Etat, Seungri - 1 2 3 and TOP - Doom Dada (MV) for starters.
They are funny, weird, chaotic and loud so variety shows are a must: Happy Together, Weekly Idol, Radio Star, all the Running Man episodes with BB are golden, Run Bigbang Scout and The MADE Movie.

In this mv they are aged 24 to 27 (now the oldest is 35) Before military enlistment BIGBANG continued to have a successful time. In 2015 they earned more than the USA top earning male group of that year did (Maroon 5). G dragon's solo world tour 2017 is still the highest ticket sales solo tour of any Korean solo artist. They are all about the music and bringing performances that make their fans feel good. In the film of their MADE tour, MADE the Movie (there is an eng subs version out there,) you can see them involved in every aspect of production - with their drive being on making it a good experience for the fans attending.

My fav concert was the Alive galaxy tour Final in Seoul. So many iconic moment in that one. Especially when GD just laying on the floor after performing catch your crayon, crowd going absolutely wild & when they perform Haru haru, audience singing along omg I was in tears lol Definitely recommend that concert!
G Dragon actually invented the concept of a lightstick that now every group has. Before that fans used to bring a balloon for the color that represents the group they're a fan of to performances Paris Goebel is the lead dancer for the dance intro to Bang Bang Bang - shes a famous choreographe, she actually choreographed Rhianna's recent super bowl performance. She appears in the Bang Bang Bang MV with GD on the leash.
Those are not just VIPs (BIGBANG fandom) but also other fandoms screaming for BIGBANG.
Fyi, BIGBANG is ALWAYS the HIGHLIGHT of MAMA whenever they attend that award. MAMA episodes with BIGBANG in it are the highest rated in MAMA history.

GD started the trend with changing hair colors, made the 1st lightstick, started airport fashion. BigBang is ahead of their time 🤍
The little lights or rather lightstick of each group is different for each fandom, from BIGBANG they are yellow crowns! in fact GD (the group leader) created them, that is, the group has their lights personalized for their fans because there were only the common ones that are sticks that were there at all the concerts! but since GD created it, the other groups began to have their own 🔥

I can’t believe I just saw this RV of BIGBANG! They’re my ult KPOP group (like SB19 is my ult Ppop group). Live monsters, just like SB19. MAMA is a year end awards night, and it’s usually held outside Korea. So the audience are not all of their fans.
The guy Seungri was sitting on (during the 2nd song) is Sehun from EXO. You should react to their MAMA 2012 performance. That was insane! They pulled out all the stops on that one.
BIGBANG are the true kings of Kpop. They are known for their musicality. They are musicians with incredible talents. Each of the members have strong personalities and successful solo careers.

I have been a Big Bang stan for years. Love then so much. This live performance was in Hong Kong at the biggest arena. They ar so natural and they have crafted their music to a Artform. Each members voice is so unique but together they are so great. The 2nd singer in this group is G Dragon who is known as the ultimate King of Kpop. he was the first Kpop Artist to write his own songs, he produced the first lightstick, they were the first Kpop group to go live worldwide - including their concerts tour outside of Aisa. In 2015 they had been inthe industry as a group for 10 years and they were at the top of their game. By 2017/2018 the members all had to go to military over a preiod of 3 years. We also had Covid and a controversy with their youngest mebmers who is no longer a part of the group. So now only 4 members left. Taeyang and G Daragon are both coming back this year with music. Daesung - not sure about yet. TOP is going to the moon - truth. but they are still all mebmers of Big Bang - they have not broken up. And we hope will perform again as a group in the future. Taeyang has a wife and son now too. Their live perfomances are out of this world.

The Yellow Crowns are called BANG BONG. Fun fact that is the VERY FIRST LIGHT STICK IN KPOP. Yes, Bigbang's GD created it. So it's one of the little details that Bigbang did to contribute in paving the way for Kpop to be where it is today. Bigbang was also well known for self-producing their songs, which allowed opportunities for companies to have faith in their idols to self-produce music. These guys opened doors. Paved the way. They experimented in sounds and fashion. True Legends. They make every stage their concert. LITERALLY.

The lightstick it's actually a flower, it's a lotus flower with 5 petals represent 5 members of Bigbang, i heard lotus flower has a good Philosophy like "the flower still blooming beautifully even in muddy circumstances", but it's came out in yellow so somehow it's looks like a crown 👑 in daylight n also can be look like a star ⭐ in the night,, soooo beautiful lightstick ever.
They compliment each other, especially when performing. The chemistry is undeniable. AND THEY ARE FREAKING HILARIOUS TOO!!! 😭😍🥰♥
The yellow flower ( the crown ) is BB’s light stick. G Dragon, the leader of BB, was the one who designed the first ever kpop light stick. He wanted their fans to stand out from a crowd. Until that point fans of different artists were using balloons of a certain colour, or t shirts to show they belong to a certain fandom. After that all the other companies started to make their own light sticks, with different colours and stuff. But VIPs, BB’s fandoms, were the first to have one.

When they presented their very first stage presentation in 2006, they sang LIVE and ate on that small stage. They've been giving their 100% since 2006.

When BIGBANG started in 2006, they didn't become very popular, but listeners from around the world heard of them and many became fans. Their company nor BIGBANG didn't know it because there was no data to support it yet.
When they were preparing for their first concert, their company thought their audience will only reach about 3,000 attendees, but once the ticketing went live, the site crashed. The online ticket reservation went crazy. 😅 No one expected BIGBANG to have a big impact in spite of the less attention they got that year.
