Not the kind of racism that you would experience in America. When you are the majority it hits and impacts you different. Im not Jamaican but I know there is a lot on unrest and corruption going on more than anything else. Jamaica might have one of the largest Chinese population in the region which explains the issues they are having with them. The whites in Caribbean are actually the most respectful( they are a different breed of white). The problem is mostly with the Asians(Chinese & Indians).
Us South Africans know exactly what Black Americans go through. Don't worry, some white person somewhere will remind her she is black. White people are consistent, their racism knows no borders and nationalities. She's going to learn the hard way. We will be here waiting.
Seems like she can't side with the plight of Jamaicans either, being that she fled her country and left the fight for Jamaica to the folks who stayed there.
Yeah... I encountered a Dominican dude who tried to say this same nonsense to me when we worked together. The moment he was confronted with some good old American style racism, all of a sudden, he started talking about "we" and "us."
I can tell by her direction or 'line of communication' (although this does not and will not apply to all Black female gays - lesbians) she is likely also 'LGBT' as well as totally divested away from her own African blood - melanated self. I'm sensing what I refer to as 'YDG' - young, delusional & gay (something that I find to be more common around/with Black male homosexuals). Nevertheless, based on her statements, she never really liked her Jamaican self anyway. Is this an example as to how the Chinese were able to get the Jamaicans - Jamaican Government to release all tollway profits from the newly constructed tollway bridge to them - the Chinese????
Yeah he probably thought he was more like them than us like most of them do. Dominicans are notorious for looking like any black person youve ever seen and yet focusing their hate specifically on black americans talking like white supremacists.

White folks opened the door as a push back to the 1964 voters right act. Blacks in Jamaica are so oppressed that they appear to be ‘compressed’ . The less than 1 % Europeans and the less than 1/2 % Chinese outshines the majority . Racism is entrenched in the Jamaican mosaic.
but can you blame her. i am from Caribbean too (not JA), so never knew what racism was until I migrated . Back home we felt classism indeed and colourism (from lighter blacks). classism is part of every culture. take the UK for example. It’s very very classist within the white community.

Whoa Brother, there's no choosing, this thing is by leniage not by choice. No black immigrant can get the funds and benefits that are specifically for Black Americans.
I may not fully agree with her conclusion but as a Jamaican, I will say that she is making some valid points. Take the title of the video, for example. "Jamaican Immigrant shares why she can't side with the plight of Black Americans." Do you realize the categorization? Her category doesn't involve race. That in itself highlights the main premise of her argument. Ethnically, black Americans have had to live as the minority with descendants of their ethnically white oppressors. Therefore, race will always be a factor And you will Always stand out and always Look to skin colour as a source of unity and shared experience and trauma. Jamaica is An ethnically black majority. The people with the power to oppress us Are ethnically black. The police officers who Treat us like animal excrement are ethnically black. Therefore, we do not see skin color as a guiding force for unity. So naturally, the dog eat dog. Every man for himself mentality is extremely prevalent down here. Do I agree with that type of mentality? Obviously not. Regardless, that is the reality of our situation. This girl and her beliefs are are shaped by her experiences as a Jamaican living in America. There will be Jamaicans living in America that disagree with her, but it doesn't invalidate her experiences. I'm a Christian so I try my best to live as closely as possible to Christian values and principles therefore race and Ethnicity mean nothing to me. That being said. I do not agree with the spirit of her message, but I do see the valid points that she made from the perspective of a Jamaican.
bro you talk logic. those commenting negative are not listening to her message. they think she must share the same experience as them. In the caribbean we had the history like America during slavery. after slavery, racism became less of an issue but colourism and classism began to take hold. Today classism is more a thing in the caribbean than even colourism. I know many people who migrated to US, Canada and UK from Caribbean. their main anxiety and concern was getting their “stay”, not the racism they may face. Not having your residence (stay), you already excluding from most of the job market. Speaking in a foreign accent, many Caribbean (and African) people speak of being discriminated against, by both black and whites.
@@anfieldreds_1892everyone has their own experiences indeed. That was her experience so I will not fault her. Not just Europeans, Chinese, and people from East we got to navigate. One of the most hidden and most “manipulative” are “those that look like us..that are not us.”
Some are descendants of slave catchers who are “to this day, still working with Britain to oppress their fellow country peoples..and are still getting “paid” by colonials..so this and many topics become more complex.
Similar exists in the US and now England with the multiplicity of descendants since Windrush.

@@dorettgweth-nanalh4073 If Rosa Parkes never sat down on that bus no black immigrants could come to this country and the oppression in the fifties that Martin Luther King had to put up with and resisted paving the way
That's her choice she has her reasons and nobody should be mad at that
the problem is that others will use her opinion against black people in our fight for equal rights. This is why I support having a different identification category for Black Americans and Black immigrants. While the census is going to sort of do that in the next census, I think it should be formalized and that is what I said in submission to the US Census during their open feedback period.
@@EyeOfTheWatcher what your talking exist here in NY there's lists for every single nationality of black people from the west Indians(Caribbean people) to the Afro Latinos and Black Americans I think in other states they might not be enough to count for their census.
We as black Americans need to focus on us and our community and forget the rest. These Africans and Caribbean black people separate themselves and move right with them people when they come over here. Come on family we are all we have. Blessings sisters and brothers.
Black American?..🤔 Did you know that Jamaica is an American country?... Did you know that North and South America (The Americas)🌎 are American countries?... Technically North and South Americans are Americans (continental identity) not only from USA
@hcalo Duh!! I'm not a complete idiot as you might think because I'm a black American. And why comment you're not a black American which is obvious.
@@mauriceblackmon6662 I apologize for the misunderstanding, It is simply, why only proclaim yourself Americans (US American) when there are more American countries on The Americas... and I'm sorry it but Jamaican, Haitians, Colombians, Mexicans and other American countries are Americans (Race doesn't matter)
You do focus on your own community anyway. Which other community have Black Americans been focusing on, please?
I've never heard of people from any country other than the United States of America referring to themselves as Americans. I'm pretty sure hcalo knows that also.
She said; that Jamaicans are so busy doing their thing that they don't have time to get into other groups business. Right, but she's only been in America for one year and is head fiest, all into Black Americans business and have so much to say about what Black Americans got going on.
She’s on her own. I have spent hours reading and writing comments, so far not one single Jamaican, including myself has supported her little insidious plot to divide the Jamaican and African American communities, because Jamaicans in Jamaica did not embrace her homosexuality.
@@dorettgweth-nanalh4073Facts, hence the reason she’s not in JA.
We need to work together. That resþaurant or hotel in Jamaica called "Earl Flynn" where they were NOT allowing any dark skinned Jamaicans on the beach or in the pool. Is what has gone on for 200 years with african americans. I was so HAPPY when I heard you guys burned the building to the ground. We do that where we live we have to worry about politixal backfire. Be blessed.
I had a Jamaican woman at my job ran to white people and said I was a drug dealer cause I wore FUBU
I love Black Americans, and all black. I feel every pain blacks suffer around the world 😢
How can we come together unified?
It's GOD based not man based. That's why those who fought for black people were killed. Only GOD got the solution for us. 😂😂😂

She said she doesn't feel racism in Jamaica, because Jamaica is 90 or 95 percent black, so you don't have as much white people as we do in America. I say we because im Black American FBA .
Mark Zimmerman didn't care that Treyvon Martin's mother is Jamaican when he hunted him down , shot him and took his life, because in his mind Treyvon is black and don't belong around him.
Treyvon's father is African American, so he's one of us by lineage.
She cannot speak for all Jamaicans.
She don't speck for all Jamaican, you have to understand the new gen mind frame, she I don't know the link .
She speaks for the lgbtqia community
She is going to get her wake up call very soon. Give it some time.

Whoa Brother, there's no choosing, this thing is by leniage not by choice.
No black immigrant can get the funds and benefits that are specifically for Black Americans.
Pointless Tribalism at it again 😢
Tribalism insinuates that two parties are at it tho. This ain't that, definitely a case of Xenophobia, but definitely not Tribalism.

When this Jamaican woman get her wake-up😳call, she's gonna wanna reach out to us because she will be on her own.
When she gets the wake up call, she'll be getting sent back to Jamaica where they'll do horrible things to her because she into other women.
Well said Phil in response to the Lady from Kingston Jamaica
Somethings that are seen as racism to black Americans are not seen as racism for non blacks. This too is where the divide is also. Immigrants will never fully understand the fight of black Americans and black Americans will never fully understand the struggle of an immigrants.
Phil, allow me to say, this woman is speaking for herself. She is not speaking collectively as Jamaicans...that's very clear. She's a young new breed having her own agenda.

This woman doesn't know Black American plight, she knows America manipulation
Well call me heartless if you want, but as a Naturalized black American, I was against this "mass migration", because of what Trump said about ,"the best ones would not be coming" (hate me if you want). Was it "the prison in Venezuela that cleared out their prisons sending their worst here, not their crime leves have dropped, while our crime levels have risen" The young lady has a right to her own views and opinions.💯🤔🙋🏿🤦🏿
Of course you never experienced racism in Jamaica because you are the majority there. Must be nice 😅
Lol. As a person on the island right now, we have our own version of racism called classism.. kinda like Rwanda hutsie and tutsie. Where if you're white, your right, brown come around, black stay at the back 😅.
Personally I have been discriminated against by a Canadian while doing logistics work for a construction company, east Indians, while working in a restaurant, Chinese from, this one lying, insane cocaine using Columbian who came. More so by Chinese (mostly ones thats new to the island who taken over business from others in their community and Indian. But never a black American. Nope it's always love. I feel instantly outraged seeing the discrimination against colored/black/ebonic/negro peoples. I feel even more upset when we discriminate against each other. I can't remember who said this, but I think it was Jim crow or Willie Lynch, yes we learn about these in history class in high school, that our people are better slaves today than 500 hundred years ago. Also that the kabbalah priest used to keep whites from participating in African sciences but there was some African who would go and teach the whites and our own everything was demonized and used against us. My respect to black america it's not easy living with your enemies. And these days it seems everybody is an enemy, even with our own ranks
Every Black person, even in Africa faces racism, majority or minority, the White man for some unexplained reason tends to be able to gain power over us.

😅At no time did she say, she is not black.
She believes (rightly or wrongly) that her immigrant status, rather than her Blackness is the barrier to her progress in America.
🌝She clearly does not understand how much racism is woven in the American society. Give her time …
She may or may not be fully aware of the racial injustices in Jamaica because she was not directly affected.
Like SOME Jamaicans, unless it affects them directly, the issue is not taken seriously.
🥱I don’t think she deliberately lied.
She doesn’t see things any different from most immigrants so why are we having SUCH A GO at her. 🥵
She needs time and experience to see things the way they really are.
😜Not everybody in Jamaica is cleaning up after tourists.
Many Jamaicans, work for themselves.
especially in the rural areas.😇
Why respond to this woman as if she represents all Jamaicans.
Why try to bash the whole country - a common practice by African Americans.
💪🏾Many Jamaicans fought (and were hanged) for the Black Cause.
😩Many Jamaicans in different countries continue to fight racism - this is just one woman’s utterance, due to naivety and lack of experience.🧐😍
you must not have heard his disclaimer at the beginning of the video.
Is it just me or is this topic (and the way it's being handled) out of place on a channel? I'm all for the discussion, but let's keep in mind that everyone has a different experience. This lady's experience is hers, and she has an opinion, but it should not be taken as every immigrant or Jamaican's experience... But that said, the way it's being handled here is very divisive. How can you speak to the Diaspora and only criticize her from the FBA perspective? The issues stated here are ones of exclusion, and this video seems to only add to it.
This young woman basically said she's willing to form an alliance with the folks ? You can't trust someone like her.
This woman doesn't represent all Jamaicans. She can only chat for herself. There is a saying that goes like this, " you cannot stay on cow's back and curse the cow" no more talk.
She did not curse the cow. Some of you come here and sell out! Stop it. They lady is right but you all are too caught up is gaining acceptance from Black Americans that you're willing to oppose all Jamaicans. At the end of the day, we only have each other because they dont like us
