- You've probably heard Disney has announced some price increases for tickets and Magic Keys at the Disneyland Resort.
Let's talk about not just the actual price increases, but also the reasons why and how it all fits into a long term strategy for Disney. It's going to be an honest conversation. Some points you'll want to hear, and perhaps other points you may not want to hear.

Why is this feeling more and more like the class system on the titanic 😂
its always been here, you just didn't notice it before
Sporting events, concerts, common carriers, etc all have pricing structures, and it never involves saving us money.
Hi Dave. Many of those spiked Mondays like Nov 11, Jan 20, Feb 17 are due to holidays. Schools out and a lot of people off. That's supply and demand at work. GREAT video, thank you!
i came here to say this. 👍🏻
Disney parks are too much for the average person. AP's are only worth it to locals now, and Disney has turned from being a trip families could do several times to a once in a lifetime trip. Not only are the ticket prices high, but food prices are outrageous too for mediocre theme park food.
food prices are cheep compared to other theme parks with worse food
@@tjtennisicmroll2k Even Universal is more money in food
That is what the executives want. Once in a lifetime people spend more money than every day guests. They have been trying to make Disneyland into Disneyworld lite.
Did you notice that Disney did their typical " soooo the bad news is....but the good news is"
Bad news: Tickets prices went up. Good news: Paint the Night is coming back.
You are spot on! Timing of these two announcements was no coincidence. Disney is really good at trying to hide the fact they are screwing their customers.
the old poke and tickle
yeah this is personally my last straw. I won't be renewing my key, nor buying tickets to Disney for the foreseeable future.
We'll continue to go.. once per year during the slow times when they throw us locals a bone.
So excited to see you show crowds on expensive days vs cheaper days. That will really help me plan!
“Fastlane” at Knott’s is only $74 for ALL regular operating days. $150 for Scary Farm. The most important aspect… They sell ONLY a very limited number of tickets, meaning they sell out!! So, unlike Disney, not everyone can get one, and making “Fastlane” a MUCH better option. Same goes for Universal - a very limited number are sold.
By limiting the number that is sold, it doesn’t adversely affect the stand-by lines like Lightning Lane does.
I don’t think it’s all that limited anymore.
Freshbaked videos back to back?... let's goooooooo!!!!!!
If Disneyland put more money into maintenance, I wouldn’t be as disappointed, but clearly they haven’t. This appears to be a money grab.
Have to pay for those movies only 1% of the fans want to watch
@@toshibavoodooTrue.
this just in, company grabs money, shocker
Exactly 😊
Disney Buena Vista approves of your video justifying their prices AND future increases.
Oct 2021 was the last time I was there, and probably the last time I will ever be there. Not worth driving there from Vegas just to keep paying more to wait on lines all day.
The wife and I bought out tickets yesterday. Still got the old prices on getawaytoday
We can't wait to go again.
Inflation is through the roof and Disney is over here playing games. F em
Recently came across someone’s DL vacation video from 1987, where they panned across the ticket booths - $25 for 1-day and $36 for 2-day.
The last time we went the bushes were unkempt, there were weeds. Buzz lightyear was super rundown in the queue. Very disappointed to hear a price increase yet we're seeing Walt's standards drop.
don't know if you heard, Walt died a while ago
While prices keep increasing every year, quality of entertainment stays the same. If not worse in many cases where the amount of refurb walls and rides down was horrendous this year.
I remember when I used to say no way they will pass $100 for a day ticket, now I say there is no way $300. Better to just wait for 3 days for 2 price deals and then use the extra money to go to the Tokyo Disneyland Resort. Note highest park ticket price in Japan is around $109
I anticipated this happening. Everyone wanting raises has it's effects. Disney just agreed to the Union raise of base pay at $24 p/h. If any non-disney employee picketed on their behalf and support, then you also should have realized this cost was going to be passed to the consumer. You don't get something for nothing. I, for one, don't mind this increase. It could have been much worse. There was talk of entry cost increase, but I have noticed that even meal cost has gone up too. I will be renewing next year. And I absolutely LOVEand appreciate all the information provided by FreshBake. 😊
If Disney is working on removing the magic from the parks…….they’re on the right path. Pretty soon Disney parks will only be available to the rich or will be a one time experience for most families. I don’t like what I’m seeing.
PAINT THE NIGHT is RETURNING!! This is the news we have all been waiting for!! 😊
Simple math shows the value of INSPIRE Magic Key. 11 days breaks you even if you average out the single day tickets. So if you are going on a variety of days tiers and go for 22 days in a year you are saving a lot of money. Plus it’s a park hopper and gets you parking pass and discounts on food and merchandise.
I agree with David. A 6% increase is very nominal, considering the inflation. I'll take that all day compared to the 50%!!! increase on our auto/home insurance this year 😞 I love going to Disneyland at least once or twice a year, so I'll keep paying for now.
They don’t include parking in the math for the inspire key. Don’t forget parking is free with that pass.
Thanks David. This is very thorough. What is your prediction on when Magic Keys will go on sale again?
Also wondering this!!
I have the Enchant key. And I saw for next calendar year, I have less days but paying more
The problem is not that they raise prices, the problem is that you get less for what you pay for now. I always used to say that yes Disneyland is expensive but you get your money's worth, I can't say that anymore. I had been an annual pass holder for over 12 years and this is the first year I will not be renewing (exception of covid time) You pay a premium price now for a subpar experience which was never the case before. There is going to come a time when people are going to refuse to pay these prices for the subpar experience they offer now.
Wow. For a family of five on a tier 6 day is a $1000, to spend most of your day standing in a line. 😮
FreshBaked. David, being like Winnie The Pooh I'm a bear of little brain. So every year I find these ticket price increases as clear as mud. So A, I alway's seem to have purchased the wrong ticket and B, It's a blockout day when I want to use it. Still with these yearly price increases Disney has found there's more than one way to skin a cat. And how to sell one ticket 12 different way's. Cheers, Chris Perry.
I would argue that their price increases ARE in line with inflation, and that the governments inflation figures are drastically lower than reality.
And yes, that doesn’t mean everyone’s income is keeping up with inflation, and that is why people will be much more vocal about the increases.
Costs go up but my pay stays the same. Thanks America!
I would pay you to 300 a person if they got their “stuff” together. Example: open and maintaining all rides, low attendance to keep line wait low,
This business model is not sustainable. They are raising the "ARPU" (average revenue per user) to compensate for weaking average crowd numbers. As the crowds get thinner, Disney recovers their revenue by squeezing the existing people who will pay it. The BIG problem this causes is that more and more people go home "after" their trip is over and they feel "ripped-off". This causes them to tell their friends and family that it was NOT worth it. More and more people will NOT return to Disney in a year or two or three when Disney expects them to!!. This business model RUINS customer satisfaction SEVERLY over time! This will not hurt Disney "today",...but they WILL feel it drastically in 2-5 years.
If they would bring back carousel theatre and ppl mover for the 70th anniversary would be nice 🤞 wishful thinking lol
FRESHBAKED is DISNEYLAND!!
Theme park IQ guys RULE!!!
They need to create another key. That doesn't have the blackout dates.
And? Reservations. Inspire key is like having a second lower key From what?
It used to be.
As a once a year visitor I'm almost always going during one of those Tier 5 or 6 days, but it has nothing to do with price or experience. It's because those are the best times to travel when my kids are out of school and I'm not working. Disney can keep jacking up the price, but it just means we no longer do things like stay at a Disney hotel, buy park hoppers and certainly we get less food and merch. This year we'll be there the 22 & 26 and I'm certain it will be crazy busy despite the price.
They're making tickets way too complicated. I love Disneyland but jeez
November 11th is a holiday (veterans day), which is why it’s more expensive. So, it may not be as empty as you think.
I agree with the majority here. Maitenance is only done when the project that needs maintenance is on its last legs. Paint the Night is worth the extra 9 dollars monthly for one more year though.
I am sure they will only run it on the days I don't go
I remember when they first started selling cheeros. They were twenty five cents .
The issue is that Disney is charging more per year for a product that is in decline…
Note: not the demand for the product. The product itself.
They are creating a demand surge.
In a world where they have everything flex-priced based on value and demand, how is it that Disney STILL thinks the price of admission for both Disneyland Park and DCA should be the same? Disneyland Park literally has twice the attractions, twice the fireworks, twice the parades and twice the sentimental vibes. Im not saying Disneyland should cost more, but DCA should DEFINITELY cost less.
My local theme park top price is almost the same as the lowest Disney cost. The difference is that I can get a season pass for less than $300. As much as I love Disney, it’s to the point it’s not worth it.
its worth it to enough people to still make money
Disney wants lower attendance but higher revenue per guest. Ultimately operations become a bit simpler but they can still generate the same or even greater profit.
They priced out a lot of people this time. I’m sure some are mad because they just announced paint the night. Some cast members say it went up to offset the deal disney made with the cast members strike.
' Some cast members say it went up to offset the deal disney made with the cast members strike.'
They didn't strike, they came to an agreement. And no, it has nothing to do with that as the parks are very profitable. Disney has consistently raised prices above inflation for years. They raise yearly because people will pay.
@@stephenjames4098 inflation went up more than the prices the last two years so they have to make up for it, turns out printing money and giving it away is a bad idea, but still a good way to get dump people to vote for you
😊 yup just crazy
Don't go
Passes increase in price but the value of pass goes down with each increase. I think this might be last year of the pass. Diminishing returns for passholders.
Disney doesnt want passholders hanging out in the park. Their pricing strategy is very calculated.
Dang, my Inspire Key is going up. Don't know about a renewal next year. My beloved Disneyland is getting crazy EXPENSIVE! But, folks will still be refinancing their homes to go 🤭!
you don't need to refinance a home to pay 200 bucks, but you need to if you spend too much for cars and everything else in your life
Haha I take pride in being an unfavorable attendee! Especially because there’s a loophole for those of us unfavorable attendees that live in Nothern California where we can get 15% cash back on our magic keys. Perfectly legal and legitimate, and in fact, it’s actually advertised. You just have to put two and two together…let’s call it a “flaw” in the system.
Everyone saw this coming unless you’re kind of blind. They are still operating at a loss overall on the movie and TV show side, and with Disneyland forward being approved I knew they were going to get the money from somewhere.
Everybody talks about theme parks raising prices ( six flags, Disney, universal, etc) but where's the outrage with the auto industry. The average price of a new car is now $40k. Disney and theme parks are not a necessity; they're a luxury. The car manufacturers are the true price gougers; theit product are actually a necessity for normal life.
Boy, I hope you get to work for Disney someday.
Disney doesn't deserve him, he is pure
Management’s only interest in the parks is squeezing every last nickel they can out of them. There are better ways to run a business.
That's way more than the employees got
Im also wondering - yes the green days are half off - but its not the same experience capacity wise because the dates for Tier 0 tend to be refurbishment time. Yes right now we've had a lot of construction and refurbishments - but over the years those time periods that were traditionally slowest are now the busiest - but also when maintenance occurs. Isnt that still true?
Every day seems to be refurbishment day.
I have honestly thought we would see a $2K (or more) pass that perhaps does not require reservations. I feel like one of these days, Disney will figure out a higher pass for a bigger money grab.
Most people can’t afford it yet buy it with credit cards leading them further into debt. If the average car payment for a family is $700 a month, why not tackle on $10 more to their monthly expenses?
They had to offer discounted tickets this summer. They NEVER do that but that was the only way they could bring in people due to their overpriced tickets. Disney is pricing out a generation and those people will never take their kids to the parks because they will never develop a love for the parks. Disney is really damaging their brand but with short term thinking from Igor & company, they don’t care because they will be gone when the true ill effects will be felt.
The money goes to new rides correct the expansion of the park if so then i expect no rides to be shut down for the amount of money they asking if they need ride maintenance do it after hours not when parks are open for guest but also dont shut down rides so we can get less for our expensive ticket.. everyones going knotts 6flags n universal 💯
and you know, wages have not gone up the same rate as inflation since the early 80s. its not a new issue.
maybe your wages haven't gone up with inflation, but everyone I work with gets more than inflation every single year, its crazy, too much money people don't know what to do with it, ever wonder why people are all buying 60k cars, when you can get one for 30k
Hmm
Not happy... Not happy at all... Walt wouldn't approve by a country mile...
You have no idea what walt would do😂😢😅
@@alucard2010 Id think he'd be furious and shout for an answer for this.
@@Ericland_Entertainment_Inc once again!!! Proof not conjecture 🤡
@@Ericland_Entertainment_Inc apparently the passes are to cheap. The park is always packed
@@alucard2010 Well that's true. As Dave said, it's about supply and demand, Disney is the most popular vacation destination in the world for theme parks besides Universal.
You're probably getting world class entertainment, historic franchises and characters, and rides with never before seen tech.
I can't say anything for those willing to spend the money. But I'm more aware of what I'm gonna spend my hard earned money on.
Hi
Man the trollbots are running wild in the comments
It's called greed.
That's what Disney has.
if a company doesn't try to make money it is called a shareholder lawsuit, any companies corporate charter requires them to try to make as much money as possible.
I'll renew my 3 inspire passes, and I'm not a local, but for me and my family, it is worth it to go through out the year.
Strategic class division system the rich get full access the poor the illusion of access once inside
I hope people stop going the.
Lines are too long
It’s Disneyland. If it was $1,000 a day they would still go.
this is how I look at it, please continue to raise prices, maybe the people who start fights and have face tattoos will stop being able to afford it.
Of course fresh baked will renewal ..so why complain?
What’s the timestamp where he complains. Looks like it was just informative and a breakdown.
an expensive ticket compared to an expensive pass is still expensive. No matter how Disney spins it, its still expensive and a lot of people who used to afford it before COVID can't now. They should offer discounted passes for kids like they do single day passes, then we will talk.
Did anyone else check their phone for a text message @ 4:49?
Unbelievable, this is flat out robbery! While I understand the parks expand overtime and create new technologies, Disney price gouging everybody!
Then don't rebew
