Can you store luggage on the train to Bologna? Saw that you have couple of large bags
Yes there are luggage holders on the train. Fyi we had 2 large 2 small luggage items. If the train is busy though, the aisles fill up with them.
Hi Ray, thanks for your video arriving disembarking Ravenna. You mentioned the transfer to Ravenna by bus being a free / hospitality service. Was that specific to your cruise line or did you get the impression it was a regular service provided by Ravenna’s transport operation? We arrive from Athens in a few weeks time and are being offered costly transfer options, hence my question. Thanks again.
Hello Keith. Thanks for the questions. It was actually a small error on my video that the transfer bus was free. Its not to embarking or disembarking passengers only those b2b. The cruiseline will sell you that short transfer from port to Ravenna Station for about $10 per person.
We know the flights going into Venice marco polo and then the transfers are 2-3 hours to Ravenna port and are expensive.
We chose to fly into Bologna from UK and the transfer from the airport was about $40 to the port pp. Its only 1 hour from Bologna. On the way back we got that transfer to the station and then a train to Bologna for €8 each, stayed overnight in Bologna in a nice hotel and got €20 taxi next day to airport. If your flights are not solidified or you are not spending time in Venice pre cruise then you might want to enquire about Bologna. One of our videos cover Ravenna to Bologna and we will release a hotel stay in the city soon.
@@RaySuesTravelChannel Hi Ray, I'm glad I asked. We can now proceed to book xfers to Ravenna rail station. I didn't want to buy only to find out it was free. We arrive Ravenna on a Celebrity Cruise from Athens and are staying in Bologna for a couple of nights before our flight home; I've worked out how to get to Bologna by train (8 euro each) avoiding a £70 fee (for 2). Thing is I don't want to be in Bologna until mid/late afternoon when our room is available so want to spend a few hours in Ravenna (I've sorted left luggage storage already). Thanks again, really helpful.
Do you recommend the max flexibility ticket (max 80% refund and change departure time if needed) for making connection on Trenitalia Frecciarocia going Ravenna to Bologna transfer to Rome?
Hi David. I can't really make any recommendations regarding purchasing train connections to Rome. You should do as fits your plans. I would say that the trains are reliable and on time. The trenitalia site should give you the right options for a train from Ravenna to Rome where theres a change of trains.. They are also flexible so if you miss your connection through a train arrival delay it's as simple as getting the next train
Are there elevators to the platforms or do you need to be able to carry your luggage up the stairs?
Hey Joanne. Yes there are elevators for each platform. Rather small and slow, but functional. Usually people around to help if not working, they put someone there to carry your bags up 1 flight.
I will take the same cruise in July. Question. On the day the cruise arrives at port, I have a flight from Bologna airport at 10:00 AM. Do you think I'll have time to arrive? What time is the cruise arriving at the port of Ravenna? Thank you very much for your help
Suggest you speak to the cruiseline to see if they have early transfers to Bologna Airport. Ship usually arrives at port early and you could walk off with your luggage and get an early transfer. However, that's an early flight and Bologna is at least 1 hour 30 minutes from Ravenna. If you can, you might consider a later flight. Hope that helps. Ray

As I’ve only sailed Carnival in Europe, I’m not certain on how Celebrity handles bringing alcohol back from ports in Europe. Can you take back to your cabin? carnival is different in Europe. We were allowed to bring on limoncello and liquors back to room and no limit. How about bottle water? Thanks!
Hey Heidi. The cruiseline will take your bottles of alcohol and store them and give you them back on the last full day of your cruise.
Thanks. I live in western us...trains are not my thjng...can u pre purchase your ticket online?
Hi Dan. Yes you can. Go to the trenitalia website or if you have a train booking app on the West Coast, they may collaborate with european train companies to sell you a ticket. Buying direct online from trenitalia should be the cheapest option, but 8 euros is about 8 USD I think. So checkout out, via multiple outlets.
What time did you arrive at the train station?
Hi David. We arrived at Ravenna about 9.30 and basically got the next train to Bologna centrale. They run every hour I seem to remember.
what was the approximate time to disembark? approximate time to bus to train station (including walk)?
Hi David. Thanks for the question. It took about 10 mins to board bus from debarkation. Then about 25 mins to bus station. 5 minute walk down pathway to station entrance. The lifts are small on each platform so does take time to get to it. Train journey to Bologna was 55 minutes to Bologna Centrale.
@@RaySuesTravelChannel so then perhaps on the day of cruise Debarkation one could plan on being off the ship by 8:30am and possibly about an hour until boarding a train? Or said differently don't reserve a train ticket with departure PRIOR to 9:30am?
