  • After the project to slice up 2-inch titanium rod, we identified a weakness of the system: the high tool pressures were rotating the tool post despite being tightened down. Here we come up with an expedient fix and discuss the issues. In parts 2 and 3, we improve the approach from here.
Toolpost: Dorian V35tc. It is equivalent in size to an Aloris CXA
Insert: ISCAR TAG N3C IC808 EDP number 06003577
Kit: KIT TGFH 26-3C EDP number 2302289
Grooving blade: TGFH 26-3 EDP number 2301764

👍 you should check both faces of the toolpost to see if they concur.
If not the lathe carriage is probably out of alignment.
We had this issue with our TL1.
    Not a hard fix.
Might consider leaving the toolpost free to move as a failsafe during a crash.

Hello, It is important that the tool post stud to tee nut connection is perfectly at 90 degrees for best possible tightening. Personally prefer not to prevent any movement of the post under adverse cutting conditions. Decreases a more serious " wreck " something has to give. Personal experiences, IMO

I was thinking Tig welding a pad on each end of the slot and file/lap it to size.

Not sure I understand. Can you elaborate?

@@KPNH I was talking about the T nut part of the video.
I thought an option there may have been to Tig weld 2 pads instead of the shim, then file them down until you have a nice fit.
It was just what came to mind,
Probably because I had been Tig welding the day before lol.
Its probably a classic case of "The Law of The Instrument"
      P.S. love the video's

It's a very stout machine. I've loved mine. You need a tenth, it'll give you a tenth. Will not set any land speed records, but that's not what it's for. 👍👊
